http://www.snuff.co.in/m/ Well, if you’re only a short hop away from Gujarat, maybe you should drop in and say hello to the Dholakia factory. It would make sense that they have an outlet in the town in which they are based.
PS Send me a kilo tub of Dholakia White while you’re there!
@JakartaBoy - Ha ha. Well, it can be anywhere from 6-10 hrs travel I guess. Considering my schedule at work, I think if this ever happens, it has to be after a few months. Why don’t you let me know if you come down to India and we can explore together?
Sounds like fun! I’ve only ever done one short trip to India, to Kolkata and the Sunderbans - where I saw a tiger in the wild on my very first hour out on a boat! Amazing! My guide said he saw his first tiger after six months of regular visits. But I read a lot of Indian literature, Amitav Ghosh is a favorite. A snuff pilgrimage sounds like fun.
Ok, I researched. Bhavnagar from Mumbai (where I live) is close to 600 kms and thats an easy 10-12 hours by road from here. Perhaps some day in the coming months for a short vacation. There is a place called Sihor in Gujarat state (same state as where Dholakia has their establishment) which houses some snuff manufacturers.
We must try and see if the snuff pilgrimage comes to our priority and fruition.
This was my first (or one my first) posts in this forum, and one and half month since the time I posted this, I have now managed to try quite some Indian snuffs. When I say “try” I mean try - there are so many that I possibly couldn’t give an experienced review as of now since I am getting confused and psyched trying to figure which one should I use when. Also, I want some time for the next 6 months or so to ‘know my nose’.
I love the fine dry variety, and I am edging on getting overconfident or think I am an experienced snuffer since I don’t choke, cough or gag on any fine dry variety (be it the Cheeta, WE or DW) even in larger than apple seed sized pinches - Let me know your thoughts!
Right from the entire range of 6 photo and a few snuffs from Dholakia, to the now recently tried 41 photo range (except for the Golden one - thats pending), I think every manufacturer has it covered… They are all good and have their topmost ones. I think they’re all winners in the kind of snuffs they make - and trust me, they are DIFFERENT. You cant compare their snuffs apple to apple.
Comments welcome.

@goaninsanity - Hey, I did PM you but you haven’t responded yet. Stating the message here in case you missed the PM notification. Yes, I would be glad to share the snuff I have with me next week (I am traveling now) by meeting sometime at a mutually convenient time.
Please connect with me on my cell number I sent you in the PM.
This thread was a great read, especially as I’m most intrigued by the snuff’s offered from India. I have some ordered and on the way…a 6 Photo selection. As for snuff in my region, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada…it is non-existent. I have a better chance of seeing a Unicorn. Our area is cigarettes and vaping mostly, with a small selection of cigars and pipe products. Now that Cannabis is available legally, it has come to a more “open” prominence. As someone who wanted tobacco but did not want to smoke…my only options are to order on-line. I order snus, nicotine pouches, and snuff all on-line. This is a little frustrating, but with a little planning and forethought I’ve managed. I enjoy my cigars in the summer months…out on the deck with Woodford Reserve to sip. It is funny how the government here says how harmful smoking is, then they turn around and legalize cannabis and set up there own stores (Outlets). (Google: Cannabis NB)
