Gawith & Hoggarth - Yay or Nay?

@ar47 Have you (or your good lady wife) tried SG’s Black Arabica? I’m wondering how it compares to the Cafe Regal

Hey @Bizzle no I have not. Not a huge fan of SG so far except the pinewood. I have Red Crest (fine brown grind) and KB and wasn’t too excited by those but … just like GH they came in tap boxes so maybe not a good representation. I’ll try the BA next order. Do you like it?

@ar47 I did like it, when I was snuffing the first time round between 2012-15. I have a tin that I bought with my first round of orders a few weeks ago when I decided to start again, but I haven’t opened it yet. I’d definitely stay away from tap boxes with SG (and GH snuffs) if you can. Its a more expensive option but the tins are very good and give you a much better representation of the product

yes what Bizzle said. The tap boxes make the snuff loss scent and moisture. The tap boxes are not a good idea for that type of snuff.

Got a 25g of GH SP from Mr Snuff, very strong seal, heavy on ammonia before airing & tilling, batch 23 269. Another instance snuff so much better in this form over the tapbox. A very simple SP, but because it only does two things (tobacco, bergamot) it’s able to do those two things very well.

I have a small plastic tub of the their Mitchell’s blend, its dry but once a bit is rehydrated for use its very easy on the nose. I have a tin of their KB special somewhere…

There’s some rose in GH SP, too. Rose and bergamot.

Well I say GH CM is one of the best out there.

I’ll have Gawith Hoggarth CM and it’ll be my first snuff from this company.  I was going to try Special M as well but decided to ask about it here first, since there’s no information online

I guess it could be Special Medicated or Special Menthol, but that’s as far as my guessing goes.  I’m curious as to what’s in it

Cheers

I have a 25g tin of CM.  This is good snuff.  I like how the camphor sort of hits my throat.  I must’ve been slightly congested due to the weather here (rain) and it cleared me up without feeling intrusive.  I also like how I can still taste and smell all the flavors without any fading away

The menthol is good.  I didn’t notice it till a few minutes after pinching.  Not too much or too little, probably slightly above medium but it works without overpowering the camphor and other elements that I’m having fun at trying to figure out
