Fine dry snuffs, just cannot take them

@Salmiak: distilled or demineralised water can be bought in a drugstore and even some supermarkets sell it. But why don’t you use just tapwater. The Dutch tapwater is of high quality. Jaap Bes.

If your city water has quite a bit of chlorine in it, put your tap water into a glass and let it sit on the counter overnight (or longer.)

Just pack up all your fine snuff and send it to me, I will dispose of it properly

Don’t have much now. Would have swapped you for some moist snuff.

@ausDave I could do that but postage would be more then the snuff. I say Hydrate with favorite fruit rind or fresh mint leaf or other fragrant vegetation or flowers in Small amounts; Like 3 days worth of snuff

Guess I am with @lunecat‌ here, as an new snuffer I went strait to the finer dryer snuffs, now most of the snuffs I enjoy are toasts, HDT, the Indian madras snuffs and white elephant being my favorites this week

Can’t stand them myself.

@ausDave‌ This is half the fun of snuff I think, so many to try and everyone likes something a bit different, be that the grind, moisture content or flavors. Got to love the snuff taking “hobby”. Its good to have a small collection to dip into… many times I have regretted buying a snuff, then enjoy it later… (Toque Berwick brown and WOS Jocky Club springs to mind)

I still have a lot of trouble getting really coarse, moist snuffs to stay in my nose. I can do it, but it takes thought and work. I don’t get this implication that fine snuffs are “more advanced” or “more hardcore” or anything like that, anymore than I’d say smoking a pipe is more advanced than smoking a cigar. Just a different product is all.

I’m awful with the German snuffs personally. They’re pretty coarse so you want to sniff hard but I find they are much more prone than others to shoot to the back of your throat anyway, which is a disgusting sensation. It doesn’t happen enough for me not to use them but they’re not ones I spend much money or time on.

With fine dry snuffs, try to breed on your pinch while you open the pinch it a bit, like when you wanted to show your brother your really bad breath when you were young. Keeping it in your mouth doing this, the damp air from your lungs tame the dry snuff quite a bit. Then use only your most blocked nostril. The nostrils go through cycles of being partialy half closed and full open, so after a couple of pinches you might find the other nostril is more closed. Another key, and probably speaking for itself, is to snuff veeeery gently whilst carefully rubbing your pinching fingers together releasing the snuff in a fiiine haze to cling on to your lower nosril inner walls. This might sound a bit confusing but I’ll answer any questions if there are any.

Easiest way is plugging, put a pile of snuff on your thumb, stick it against your nostril and just swallow a few times. the snuff is now in your nose. Not much fun but it works!
