Compared to a GH or SG tapbox aka sneezebox, a WoS tin is awesome. Never had a dried out one, except vintage ones found on ebay.
WoS Grand Cairo beats Tom Buck (in terms of Bergamot, that is, they’re both excellent snuffs). For a real bergamot kick, try WoS Brunswick. It’s superb, like being hit over the head with a pot of Earl Grey.
I’ll suggest Gawith Hoggarth Dry Orange as well. Not exactly bergamot, but probably to closest flavor to Earl Grey for Me
Earl grey or Lady grey?
Toque SP Extra is heavy on Bergamot, at least to me - very citrusy but hard to pin down…
And who could forget J&H Wilson SP No1 for a nice simple bergamot with a good nic content. Toque Sp extra is also great for a heavy dose of Bergamot.
I agree, j&h Wilson sp no1 is a lovely snuff with delicious base tobacco. Just wish they sold bulk.
The title of this thread just cracks me up! What is the old saying…There must have been one hell of a bergamot salesman at one time! McChrystals S’nuf is strong in the Bergamot.
Toque S P Extra is most like earl grey I taste it and bergamot is the only thing I think of.
Try WOS Gold Label. It has bergamot and lemon in a Virginia tobacco flour.
You can scent any snuff with bergamot oil, as I have recently been doing. Moisten the end of cotton swab, drop it in, close it up, wait overnight, and there you have it. Last year I got some tins of JH Wilson SP, from the 1960’s. Dry as a bone and without flavor, I did the bergamot treatment and it became useable and actually pretty good.
Wilson’s of Sharrow “Tom Buck”
Wilson’s of Sharrow “Irish ‘D’ High Toast” is quite nice as well, if a little harder to take.
