Which snuff gives the best whiff of Bergamot? Im interested in trying the snuff with the strongest bergamot flavour. So far I’ve tried:- WoS Grand Cairo Toque Origonal Toque Toast Toque Toast and Marmalade SG Kendal Brown GH Kendal Brown SG Irish D Light

E

Best SP I reckon. Of the ones you list only the first two have any bergamot flavouring.

S

Wilson’s of Sharrow Irish D High Toast #20 is good

C

Well, only 2 on your list have Bergamot in them. I would say Best SP or SP Extra.

G

I thought the Kendal brown was soposed to have a light citrus flavour (which usually I do not pick up) but I sopose its not from bergamot.

P

Toque SP Extra

E

The citrus flavour in KB is orange rather than bergamot.

S

Queens Extra Strong!

G

@snuff_n00b SG Irish D light is my current favorite, I would like to try Wilsons Irish High Toast No 22 with my next snuff order.

G

I think I will give Tom Buck/Queens extra strong a go as well

K

Toque SP Extra -Kidnapper

McChrystals S’nuff (this has a lot of bergamot from memory) McChrystals SP Wilsons Queens Extra Strong/Tom Buck Wilsons Irish D No. 20 Wilsons Best SP Wilsons SS Toque Original Toque SP Extra Samuel Gawith SP No. 1 High Mill (as I recall - I ran out of this one a while back)

Molens Prins Regent has a nice Bergamon scent to it. I enjoy it a lot.

“I thought the Kendal brown was soposed to have a light citrus flavour (which usually I do not pick up) but I sopose its not from bergamot.” KBO is indeed described by Samuel Gawith as having a light citrus flavour. However, it derives from one of the many types of Pelargonium - something rather similar in aroma to Quantock Millenium, which has an orange-like scent. SG won’t divulge which is used. By the way, if you can’t detect the scent then you are using a useless tap-box from which virtually all flavour and moisture is lost. Irish D Light is strictly unscented tobacco. The best known bergamot snuff is that now marketed under the name of Best S.P.by Wilsons (Sharrow). Bergamot and its Italian origins are described in ‘Snuff Yesterday and Today’ by C.W Shepherd. Because it is a hybrid many people say oranges and lemons - just like the bells of St. Clements.

Toque SP extra I think is the strongest, but I thought that was a bit overdone and one dimesional. Bergamot is like salt; great in tiny amounts. For me, Grand Cairo is the best of the sronger flavoured ones and Wos Best SP is the best that utilises it as a ‘background’ component.

@PhilipS Yes its a tap box, and it was dry right from the start. I will try adding a little mist of water. Ive taken to storeing the tap box in a sealable plastic bag (the sort that the Toque tins are sealed in when sent by post) then I put that in a biscuit tin with a tight fitting lid. I have sone air tight glass jars with glass lids and a rubber seal that fasten with a metal latch (they used to have pate in them). I put my WoS tins and Toque tins in these bottles (3 tins in each one), but unfortunately the tap boxes do not fit in them. I realy liked my 1st sniff of kendal brown, so I intend to buy a larger tub of this, one that is not a tap box. @snuffster I realy like Grand Cairo. I will try either Best SP or Tom Buck
