@lunecat - you’d have to go back to the “Hampden Park Bloodbath” of 1904 and the 18 player deaths in the1905-6 season to understand the origins of the players’ protective equipment in Gridiron.

Many thanks, lunecat, for reviving painful memories (though it was nice to hear the great Gerald Sinstadt again.) On the other hand I should like to point out to Vostok, in a rather mean-spirited way admittedly, that the Latics did pull off a fine 2-1 victory against Walsall earlier today.
