Kendall - Lavender Dark. Medium coarse grind, quite moist, dark as my soul with a fairly musty aroma reminiscent of a root cellar in spring
NTSU black after having just finished a tin of Viking Dark.
NTSU to me is an order of magnitude stronger than Viking Dark and the grind is more consistent.
I think I prefer NTSU green over black. The light menthol compliments the barnyard funk to make a certain richness.
Dholakia Swiss Chocolate.
Red Bull extra strong now. This is my first box of Red Bull in over a year since I tend toward O&G and Lowenprise for menthols. I think itâs worth using more often but maybe only 2-3 boxes per year. The additives drown out most of the tobbaco flavor.
Jip! Seems to go well with the spell of cold weather weâre having here at the moment.
Samuel Gawith Elmos Reserve . Vile shoe polish that I canât put down . Itâs another snuff scent like Spanish Gem that I donât especially like , but itâs kinda fascinating .
That scent settles a lot as it ages. I find this note can be a bit sickening, but itâs also the note I seem to find most appealing. I like Elmoâs Reserve, but itâs never going to be an everyday snuff for me.
McChrystalâs - O&G later followed by McChrystalâs English Menthol. Both newly opened tins. Iâm at times quite sensitive to medicated/mentolated snuffs as I often have a âreboundâ effect where initially my sinuses clear followed soon by excessive mucus production clogging my nares. Iâve dealt with this by reducing my usage of same or just using on one side to allow for relative clarity, at least on one side. Iâve had little trouble with McChrystalâs however. But of the two the O&G is my favorite
Shoe polish yes thats the tonka bean. I found the elmoâs improves as it airs. The chemical / fakeness seems to disipate a bit. But it doesnât compare to the real thing couple of beans in a tin of wos plain is fanatstic, do need to try them with KB plain
Taxi - Blue. Coarse, dry taking a little finesse to place. Pleasant
Dholakia - FUBAR Mango Madness later WoS Wallflower. The Dholakia is funky indeed, totally unique and quite tasty. The WoS is also good but not exceptional
Poschl Kloster Andechs. Probably the most interesting and smoothest of the Poschl snuffs that Iâve had.
Samuel Gawith Firedance . From a freshly opened tin I got nothing but a hilarious fruit pie filling scent . After a bit of sess Iâm starting to pick up a more artificial vibe . Thereâs a note to it like sweets (candy) , like eating too much Pez or something .
Never tried Firedance before , had a bad track record with SG fruits and avoided it .
A lot of people swear they get juicy fruit gum from Firedance.
I find it changes a lot depending on a lot of factors. Itâs well known that Iâm a fan of Firedance, but find its best in outdoor air from a slightly warm tin - in those conditions i get a natural scent of crushed blackberries.
This might be the result of an overactive imagination
I get the blackberry straight away ,no doubt . But I also get something a bit more sherbet-y than Juicy Fruit coming later .
I am enjoying it though . Ar the moment Iâve got Kendal Brown , Gold Label , Elmos Reserve and Silky Dark rotating through my tapboxes and none of them are really satisfying me scentwise . Firedance is a hilarious diversion .
50/50 Kendal Brown and Best Dark, good but the Kendal Brown seems to be dominant.
Todays Roundup includes WoS - Vanilla, WoS - Blueberry and McChrystalâs - Highland Ice. Today I liked the McChrystalâs best which was a surprise. In a most peculiar way I am getting spearmint gum and menthol. Quite decent on a cool afternoon
Bernard - Pariser No. 2. Delightful, understated, easily quaffable. My bottle says made in W. Germany. Thatâs been awhile. Still Grand stuff.
Todayâs roundup for me includes:
O&G
Löwenprise
Andechs
Silky Dark
Red Bull
SWS Pontefract Priory
SWS Aged Border Rappee
Bernard Fresco
Bernard Charivari
Do you find Highland Ice and O&G to be different at all?
