I save my old tins and refill them with my homemade moustache wax. I give the 10g tins to fellow lip farmers and keep the 25g tins for myself.
There are companies that sell small metal tins that look an awful lot like the 25g tins from wilsons. Intended audience use is for seperating small parts for fine woodworking. I could also easily see beads or other small items stored this way.
@Filek Looks like you are starting a store
I’d rather like to build an ark for the apocalypse.
I have one or two that i use to keep spare screws and nails, the rest i throw out
There was an old Poschl blend that I can’t for the life of me remember the name of but it was in a green plastic box in the shape of a traditional flip top snuff box - they were great if you get the chance of acquiring one. If someone can remember the name that is:)
Was it Robby’s Top Mint? I have two:
Yes, thanks Alex - I’ve not seen one in 20 years - would look quite nice sprayed black, although you would probably have to use something like Krylon Fusion as I seem to remember they have quite a shiny surface.
I thought to myself, that I should tell you about my little dream for the distant future. Snuffhouse has been a fantastic place to be for all those years, with lots of great people that share the same passion. I’ve started collecting tins since 2005 and I’m quite pride to be the Polish record holder for having the biggest collection. I even thought that it would be a nice thing to one day create a snuff museum with a lot of snuff taking artifacts. By far I have around 500 different tins and a few gadgets from the snuff companies (even Roderick’s business card with an autograph So if anyone does not attache great importance to empty tins, but still may think that those can be important elements of something bigger, I would gladly accept them with an open heart and took care of the small valuable gems of history. I’m in Poland.
I make homemade snuff and always have a hard time finding good tins I haven’t bought a tin for a few years since I haven’t been able to afford to instead I pull aside a bit of rolling tobacco add some flavor extract dry it all out and put it in a magic bullet not as good in any way as storebought I really need to learn what they add as well
I do pretty much the same as Filek - I keep them all in the cabinet… but mine takes only one shelf.
Wife uses them for her sewing notions, though pipe tobacco tins are better for such…
Hahaha Yeah @Lunecat, I do the same, SG 25g tins are the most appealing to mee.
@Filek i probably have a few Indian ones on the way you might not have got. Will keeps the empties for you going forward
I thank you with all my heart. There’s a dozen that I don’t have. You can see how my collection looked like 2 years ago on the Polish records website: http://www.polskierekordy.pl/web/rekord/rekordowa-kolekcja-opakowan-po-tabace
