Completely true. I am by no means disparaging his purchase and if it works then thats a great thing. Worst case you have a nice can to put other stuff in.
Damn, it looks like a soap box, just got it in. Way to big to be a snuff box… I think I even smell the soap still… Trying to send it back, and get my money back.
NO!!! Keep it, it’s history you’ve got in your hands there!!
Does it have anything like a good seal - you’ve always got a desk top snuffbox if keeps snuff ok.
I closes ok, for on a desk, but I think It could hold up too 100 grams of Snuff
Well, then put 100g of snuff in it. You are the only one in the universe with a snuff box like that!! Rub it with your bare hands until it’s “clean”, make sure the inside is clean and…fill it up!
Use Perlesreuter. It comes in a 100g bag.
I have a large desk snuff box. I only fill it partially, snuff from it all day long at my desk. I partially fill it as needed and so on and so on. I like the way it works, I also have a glass candy dish, shaped like a fish (you know it dose’nt seal tight) it dosen’t have to I ain’t going to tote it around. For the price you paid, I would keep that sucker use it like you have good sense and not care what anybody else thinks. IMHO
Ok, you guys convinced me. Mine to keep
What I would do with something like that is keep some tins or bags of snuff in it. As a stash box.
You could keep smaller tins in it. As a tin box.
Am I really that hard to understand?
I don’t think anyone has mentioned this yet… but you could put some of your small tins in it…
Yeah, but it would only hold 2/3 tins. I contacted the guy, he has no problem me returning it. It’s going back -period.
I have in my collection an old silver plated brass snuff box from the ocean liner “Bremen”, that sailed between Bremen and New York before WW2. It was later used by the German navy for transporting troops during the war. There are still lots of these interesting “merchandise” snuff boxes around. Hope you’ll find a nice snuff box!
Beautiful item. I would leave it as is, and if it were mine I would keep it at home to be cherished when you are sitting down at night, not to carry during the day. Keep a snuff tin for that. Leave the container as is and admire the aging that it came to you in. Lovely item. Whatever came in it originally, I think it would be ever so nice for a snuff container. I myself would keep something really special in it, Toque Christmas pudding lets say. Get a nice 50 or 100gm sack and make this container your special treat when you come home at the end of the day. You are so lucky to have found this. great work.

I’d put a bar of Irish Spring in it.
Guy’s it’s gone! Byeeeee Fake Snuff Box
See you later container of controversy!
