Acid Snuff

You’re right , all way too expensive. Life’s too short to try and rub snuff through that coffee filter.

I wonder if a piece of nylon pantyhose would work for an extra fine screen.

Addressed that one in the above post.

Stone mortars are intended for grinding by rubbing (trituration) so don’t try pounding your snuff like I do. You can wind up chipping your mortar or pestle. Andy’s snuff making article will give the basics for using your type of mortar: Making Your Own

What proportion of mint to tobacco did you use?

I usually use 1/4 tsp. mint to 1 Tbs. of tobacco. Works pretty well.

Dholakia’s Manjul snuff contains both cloves and mint. If you want to try and add powdered cloves to tobacco; start with a very small amount, maybe 1/8 tsp. to 1 tbs. tobacco. I don’t recommend using the oil of cloves. It’s just too easy to use too much and do some serious damage to your mucous membranes. You can moisturize your snuff once it’s ground. The article link posted above contains methods. How did your first batch turn out?

I found for clove scenting snuff if I leave a whole clove in about 10 grams worth of snuff and that seems to work wonders. Same scent less burn.

Yeah you can get whole cloves from any grocer last time I needed one I asked one of my friends moms if I could have a clove. Another nice thing is you can reuse it at least a few times.

Whole cloves should be available at any grocery store. It’ll take about a week to fully scent the snuff this way. Again, don’t add anything to snuff that’s not intended for internal consumption. Oil of cinnamon is another one to avoid.

And don’t add any perfumes, colognes or artificial fragrances directly to the snuff. You’ll will waste the whole batch.

Drew Estates and a couple of other manufacturers pack their cigars on a bed of tobacco leaves inside the box.

Bumped up for mustangii

when you guys are grinding up your cigars, in a mortar and pestle fashion, do you include the wrapper? Or just the filler? Just curious, because I’m planning on giving it a try.

If it’s an all tobacco cigar, I use the entire cigar. I don’t use the composition sheet found in cheaper cigars. It’s just paper made with tobacco scrap instead of wood pulp.
