Hi all, I’m going to be ordering some new snuffs in the next three or four weeks, and would love some input from you all to help me pick the next five or six to buy. So…what are your top five essential snuffs? Ie the ones you can’t imagine life without, and that you get twitchy about when you’re running low. My five to date (in no particular order) would be: WoS Best Dark Hedges L260 WoS Grand Cairo Gawith Apricot Abraxas Those, to me, are a day in snuffs. Hedges first thing, Grand Cairo in the morning, alternately Best Dark and Grand Cairo in the afternoon, Abraxas in the evening, Gawith Apricot for bedtime. It was HARD to leave out the glorious 6 Photo Anarkali, in reality if I was permitted a sixth it’d be a tie between Grand Cairo and Anarkali. Over to you…

Wilson’s Tom Buck! Wilson’s Grand Cairo! Fribourg & Treyer High Dry Toast! (it ties with Toque’s Whiskey and Honey!!!) both are works of ART IMHO Toque Quit! Molen’s Gingerbread! 5 is about right for me. I’d say these 5 are the ones I take on a daily basis. Although if you stopped me in the street I’d have at ALL TIMES 2 or 3 snuffs on me. In my Tripletech I’ll have either Grand Cairo or Tom Buck. Then I’ll have a little smash box of Quit, and a tapper of either HDT or Gingerbread! At home however, I’ve got probably 30 different snuffs in my stash box. I’m starting to keep mason jars full of Grand Cairo and Tom Buck so far. I intend on filling a jar of each of the snuffs on my “top 5 list.” because I NEVER want to go without!

Thinking about it, 5 are actually quite hard to come up with… Wos Best SP J&H Top Mill Toque SP Extra McC Mild Lemon Then I’m not sure, maybe Toque Original, or WoS Royal George, SG Apple, SG Wild Duck etc, the list goes on and I don’t think I could tie down a 5th. Those 4 are definates though. (I love SPs!)

@Vathek lots of people seem to like O&G aswell. It’s interesting that even with all the new fancy flavors we just can’t get away from the classics.

1. toque original 2) viking dark 3) any medicated. I don’t collect scents, I feed a habit that keeps me off the smokes, the above list is all I need to the tune of 8-10g daily.

The only snuff I’d consider “essential” is USA W&H. I have no less than 100g on hand at any time. I carry it with me all day, every day. That being said, there are a few others that I really enjoy. White Elephant (can’t find my tin ), GH Kendal Brown are among my favorites. In the rare instance that I crave a menthol, L260 and McChrystals English Menthol satisfy the itch. 1. Anything rose. 2. unscented 3. any lightly mentholated toast sparrow cool for example. 4 anything jasmine 5 anything sandalwood. Mainly because I like all these scents and these are the ones that agree with my nose the best and seem to hold up to repeat all day snuffing the best. As far as brand goes being able to purchase in bulk means more then individual brand. Bulk is just better as bulk holds up better so you continue to have fresh snuff and I swear something happens when large amounts of snuff are stored together that makes the tobacco and added scents marry in a more complex manner.

I’m expanding my list to 6. #6 would be 6 Photo Anarkali. Wow! Just beautiful.

I can’t make a list of essential snuffs, but snuff IS essential for my sanity. But for years my essential snuffs were Black Rappee, Hedges and any floral Indian snuff, my favorites being Kailash and Motia from 6 photo. I always have menthol and a few plain English snuffs like Viking brown, London Brown( not available now but I have half a 500 gram tub), or Santo Domingo.
