Hi All I saw some Padauk wooden boxes that seem to be a good size for use as a snuff box. I am pretty new to snuffing but know that this wood is used in a lot of Collins snuff boxes and wondered whether they’d be suitable. Is the slide top asking for trouble? Your advice is appreciated. @eeldergill they look very similar to the heartwood boxes sold by MrSnuff. I myself am tempted 
I’ve never had a problem with any of the Patrick Collins snuff boxes, except possibly for the one that inadvertently went through the wash in a trouser pocket… and that one was fine once the base dried out and the newly warped lid, still wet, was sandwiched between two flat boards in my workmate for a few days until it was completely dry. In fact that box now seems completely immune to moisture! I have one the same shape as those in the link but in teak, and that has always been fine. Certainly it’s a good price. Just checked the other link. I have a box like the one numbered 2573. Again, never a problem.
If you check there payments they do not have a secure server just http so be very very carful giving your credit card details its not secure!
That is the cheapest price I seen on boxes. I also have one like 2573 I had got used but mine stands a full inch high. when I first got it the wood slide door worked to good; after I waxed it with paragon pipe wax it restored it to original shape. They are heartwood I have several. they are marked with a small heart shape on the bottom of box top left hand side.
I really like mine. The slide lid keeps secure and tight.
Just had 3 boxes delivered from Wooden co uk and they are the heartwood boxes very good quality they only charge £2 odd P&P but i would sugest calling them to pay as there site is not secure for payment PS: the 2573 is out of stock

Thanks all for your replies and BeeMan for test driving them. I will buy a couple tomorrow before they go out of stock. By the way, ermtony, I’ve ordered a Patrick Collins Tripletech from the States because of the recommendation. Ed.

@eeldergill I have a couple of Patricks Tripletechs on order i hope they will be here in the next day or so. has any one tried the double ones?
I have a double box, they are thinner than the tripletec, don’t hold as much which is good if you like your snuff fresh, nice for the variety and pretty much disappear in your pocket.

correction–I was going from memory, sorry. The double is just as deep as the single, the wells are 1.25" x 1" each. The single has a well 2" x 1", and the tripletec has a well 1 5/8" x 1". The depths for the single and double are the same, 6/16" while the tripletec is 7/16".
