The “Whats in you mailbox” thread used to be an announcement so it always appeared on top of the front page where everyone could see it but now it is not and you have to go searching for it, don’t know why they took it off all it accomplished is new comers starting up threads like this not knowing a mailbox thread already exists.

@JakartaBoy  I picked up a stainless silver spoon during the Leap Year free shipping event.  Felt like I overpaid… but now that I have it in my hands I love it!  Perfect size, balance, grip, weight, etc.  Totally worth the $$.

Oh I know:) I generally dilute it down with a plain tobacco though, it’s a semi sweet and the dilution stops it from congesting my nose. It’s got the best flavor of any I’ve tried too of the sweets.

@lunecat I have indeed. I have from the Kralinger molens , Bon Bon, Mississippi, pepermunt, St. Omer nr.1, Prins Regent. They are AL very nice flavours but they are very dry and the grind is mutch bigger than for example Poschl Gawith Apricot. And they give me a sharp back drip.and I need to blow them out. From Old mill I have 3 ordered and on its way. Antebellum Kind of blue Arrabesque I find the SG Celtic Talisman a nice and easy snuff and the review for the raspberry was good , I will let you know.

I just picked some snuff up at the tinderbox in Tacoma. I picked up the poschls gawith apricot and the poschls gletscher prise. I finally have a different brand than the silver dollar I usually pick up at the local store in phoenix.

SG CCC and several other SG snuffs the names of which I can’t remember just now, but which I understand have recently been discontinued. A guy on a Facebook snuff forum sent these to me. Apparently they’re all available at a small grocery store near him in Georgia. Next time I’m in the area, I’m going to talk to the manager and see if they’ve got more coming in or if they’re just selling what’s left with no plans to restock. Also, I’ll buy as much as I can of whatever they’ve got and make them available to you guys. Obviously I know how hard it is to come by some of these!

Dang, @Tobe, that is quite a score! I’ve never seen the big Swisher tubes. The large Bruton I have seen came in something shaped like a pint glass. Is Carhart US Smokeless, too? Those look like big tubes, too, unlike Bruton. Maybe it is the 4+oz Garrett I’m thinking of. If I like the Dental Scotch or Tube Rose, maybe I can talk you into a trade for a big one! Anyway, I just placed my first order from Old Mill. I’ve been trying to do this for months and finally decided I can’t afford NOT to do something nice for myself. It will be just a taste: Arabesque and PVT. I’m excited to finally put some OM in my nose and find out what y’all are raving about.

@TerrapinFlyer They had one tube of Bruton that was the exact same 4.65oz. I just wish they’d had more, particularly where Dental and Tube Rose are concerned since that’s what everyone seems to want. By the way, week of the 21st everything will be mailed, likely that Tuesday. @snuffsahoy I will definitely try it and see if I can do a half decent description of my experience. I wish I had the nose some members here do, picking up hints of elderberry, dashes of sandalwood, and so on, but at this point I’m less than helpful with my efforts. @Marielle32 Yes! Looking forward to trying some new snuffs!

@snuffsahoy I tried Buttercup and then a while later Honeybee, and found that the scent of both in the tin is exactly the same. The Honeybee was slightly darker and more moist relatively speaking, but those were the only obvious differences from the outset. Buttercup is very, VERY sweet, with the initial sweetness quickly giving way to a mild smokey scent that reminds me of a dying campfire. That scent lingers along with what I believe is a wild honey scent for quite a while. I like this snuff a lot, and was able to deal with its very dry, very fine nature with no issues whatsoever by using the “nose kink” method. Interestingly, it caused my nose to run where Honeybee clogged it up. Still, I cleaned my nose with saline nasal spray and waited a bit for the scent to fade away before trying some Honeybee, as I had an odd feeling… Now obviously I could be wrong, but in my non-expert opinion, these two snuffs are the same product. Admittedly, my inexperience with American scotches at this point might lead me to conclude that all American sweets are the same exact snuff, but I doubt it. If there is any difference, it’s that I didn’t detect that smokey scent with the Honeybee, and perhaps got a bit more of the wild honey scent, but essentially then, these would be the same. I like both and am glad to have a good supply on hand. Oh, and after a few nosefuls, my nose did indeed start clogging up, so… Fraterdentical twins, IMHO.

No snuff this time. I have several years worth, and don’t need more right now. I did however really need some spare CE4 vape cartomisers having just fitted my last one, and my local vape shop is a rip off at 5 pound each. Online at my favourite tobaconnists, they’re only 99 pence each, so it was a no brainer to place an order. No plain Crests are available in 25g tins, either. This may not be the best time to be exploring new snuffs, but it has to be done! If I like these new ones, I will be stocking up soon. It’s sad, really. I have been putting up pipe tobacco on a five-year plan, starting two years ago. I just had to free up money earmarked for something else, because our way of life may be ending sooner rather than later. Don’t feel too bad. *It’s for the precious children!* I know most of my Toque favorites and am very happy to be able to order bulk economically from the source.

Edit: Okay, the pic is upside down for some reason, but these are all 4.65oz cans. I had to put about four cans back, including Bruton, because it exceeded what I was trying to spend.

Omg man, how much are they charging anyway? I’m soooo envious heh.

$15.49 per 4.65oz tin and about $5 per tin per 1.15oz tin, with Dental being a bit more. Again, if anyone wants anything, let me know. Otherwise I’ll just add these to my collection, which really doesn’t need anymore scotches.

To find a tin with an upside down label is rare. That you found one in each of five brands would be rarer still. Here you find the exceedingly rare matched pairs of misapplied labels! That’s unheard of! You should get them while you can; they’re worth a fortune. I have an upside down Wilson of Sharrow label, myself.

Awaiting 35g Cheetah, 50g Dholakia Sparrow, 50g Bernard Gekachelter Virginie and a tin (plastic?!) of Taxi Red. Was going to replace my almost depleted tin of Viking Dark but I’m SO broke this month. I’m familiar with the Sparrow so hope one of the other three can match its magnificence albeit in another way. Toque Quit and Taxi Red will definitely deliver the nicotine. Some people swear by 41P WE, but I think Taxi Red may actually deliver more nicotine.

I’ve been spoiled with my 7-8 day deliveries.  If anyone has a friend that works in customs at Chicago, could you tell them to look for my snuff and get it on it’s way - that’d be appreciated.

@SeanOCDPx, I know how you feel. when I lived there, there was only one way to nudge a municipal issue along: make a “donation” to your local ward or precinct. Customs is a US entity,but still employs Chicago’s “finest” residents. Easily the most corrupt local government in the US. Im surprised you ever get any orders at all, without having to grease someones pockets.Good luck!

I am about to order 200g 6 Photo No.66, and 400g of 6 Photo Super Kailash.

I went to MrS because I wanted a bunch of Old Paris. I ended up deciding to get it in bulk, later. Instead I made myself a sampler of new-to-me snuffs. This rounds out all the current Sam Gawith and Wilson’s of Sharrow that interest me, but that I haven’t had yet. I’m trying Taxi Red and NTSU Black. From the windmills I got Son de Tonca, Limburgertabak, and FCV 400. I’m looking forward to trying de Kralingse’s new small containers. I picked up a F&T Bureau 50g because it was on sale. I think it’s 17 new snuffs. I did get one I’d previously tried: de Kralingse Mettaijer 100g. I love it. Of course, now I can’t afford that Old Paris bulk for a while. Ha ha.

Everything came in an nice bubble wrapping and was sealed very good except one.
Swisher Honey Bee Sweet opened and the entire contents was spilled inside the bubble wrapping. What I did was left Mr. Snuff a message on the chat box. Hopefully they will get back to me. I’ve never had this happen to me before so I’m looking around for some answers on how I can get my snuff replaced. I know that the Swisher was sent in a different package then the others as there was two packages.

Quick update:

Well Even though it’s opened I decanted the rest back into it’s respective container. Maybe I have nothing to worry about. I just took a pinch on the Swisher and forgave the postal service since it’s all their.

Anyone ever have this happen to them before?

The American plastic cans are not sealed really. They put paper over it but it’s just a slight compression fitting holding the cap on. To send it through the post, plastic cling wrap is very effective at holding both together without using adhesive.

@Mrsniffles, yes I had a can of Starr scotch open up last week it got all over the package and some even leaked out of the box. It wasn’t through Mr Snuff though. The other party was kind enough to send me a new one.

@jmahes Scotch Black is an essential part of my dark, plain “suite” of snuffs; London Brown, Black Rappee, GH Kendal Brown balance it out, with the SG Kendal Browns coming and going depending on mood.

I do miss SG McCombie.  It was like a bridge between the darks and the Crest series.  RIP.

@chefdaniel, I’ve never had the pleasure of trying London Brown or McCombie but I get a pretty good idea hearing the descriptions. I very much dig these darker “plainer” styles. Pure tobacco goodness!

Have any of you ordered anything to Arizona recently? I have seen a couple of posts about this but they are 2-3 years old.

@hadryeal, I’m also in Arizona. Arizona does not have any extra restrictions regarding tobacco orders. I have not ordered from Mr snuff yet, but have ordered from Old Mill with no problems. There are a few arizonans here that have from what I recall, but haven’t seen them on the forum in awhile, but still within the last year. What part of Arizona do you live in out of curiosity?

@Psicko It isn’t so much site specific as it is apparently there is a law against ordering any kind of tobacco product online or by phone if you aren’t like a smoke shop owner or what ever, I was wondering if people were having issues with that law here because I ordered from them before I was aware. Also I live in Glendale.

@hadryeal the law you are most likely referring to is the pact act. It was designed to stop online cigarette and “smokeless” tobacco sales and has exclusions for pipe tobacco and cigars. You will be fine. Certain states like Washington and a few others (I think Maryland) have outright banned online tobacco of any kind and any shipping to those states. Even between private parties with a huge fine if caught. Basically the pact act made it more trouble than its worth to do online snuff sales within the states. Between private parties you can mail any non cigarette tobacco provided they don’t live in a state where it is illegal and there are restrictions on how much and how often you can mail those, as well as having to declare the items to a postal worker. Also both parties must be of legal age of course. You can’t use the automatic computer stand. If you get caught they send you a nasty gram and may confiscate said tobacco. Also, I lI’ve in Flagstaff, but come down to the valley once a month which will be this weekend. I used to work at ye olde pipe and tobacco in Phoenix.

@TerrapinFlyer, definitely! this time I could smell the ammonia in the KB, not so with the plastic tub

@jmahes. I will have to revisit both GH KBs now. The tubs I have gotten of them are just over half full and not moist. That tells me they’ve lost quite a bit of water and probably scent in the process. Usually Ambassador and Almond are filled almost to the top. The KB Scented I just got seemed less scented than the regular I got a year ago. The packaging might be why they don’t have the greatest snuff reputation. GH’s pipe side is awesome, so it baffled me a bit. Edit: Does this KB seem moister to you? I can’t believe the consistency is meant to resemble birdshot.

@TerrapinFlyer, yep it’s moist all right. My little tub was too, so I lucked out there but the tub wasn’t filled all the way either, so don’t know what was up with that. The “new” tins definitely seem fuller and fresher.

Nice @Kingslayer, those are all good choices.  I don’t know much about the bullets, but the flavors are good.  Most don’t stick around that long (which isn’t always a bad thing), but that Apricot is quite persistent.

Not sure where I had gotten the idea that WoS wasn’t good (possibly a friends suggestion) but seeing so many buyers on here pushed me over the edge.  I went English on this one…I’m excited about this order. 

Fields of Juniper sounds amazing, as does CoC and Morlaix.  When I’ve had a moustache (wife hates it) I use a ylang ylang wax, I love the smell and can’t wait to see what WoS did with it.

Kindof got enough snuff at the moment until I seen Mr snuff free shipping. Now I got even more on its way.

Order came in. 6 New toque cans. Yay. 20 year menthol smoker and 4 year menthol vape, so I thought I would like menthol… nope. Tried blueberry menthol first. After about 4 snorts I got tired of it. Tried sp extra next and it had menthol too. Then I opened Almond Toast… wow my favorite snuff for sure. Smells awesome and I’m sure my can will empty quick. Next was Cheese and Bacon. It seemed to have some menthol in it but it faded quick and I liked it. 20 minutes later and I could still smell the cheese and bacon. Ill use it for an out in public snuff since it stays with me so long. Next I tried chocolate and yuk it has menthol in it too. Didn’t even smell like chocolate. Thought I would like it. Still haven’t tried th he straight menthol. Don’t really care to honestly. Glad I didn’t order bulk of menthol. Definitely getting a 400 gram bag of almond toast. I noticed your post here and - unless something has gone very wrong - Toque SP Extra does not have any menthol in it.

You might wish to try it again with a clear nose as it is a very good example of SP snuff.

@Chris hmm, I will give it another shot today. This was just my personal open tin and take a snuff review. I may need to Air it out too. Since I’ve been into snuff a month my opinion should not be taken as fact. I just got up, took a wiz and washed my hands, and shoved 4 pulls of toque almond toast up my nose… loving it. The SG seems really dry and did not seem to have much scent in the nose. I think the seal may have broken during delivery as there was a fine layer of snuff in the delivery bag. Perhaps that is reason why. Regardless 7 days is pretty impressive.

I also purchased some Sir Walter Scott.  I went with Fields of Juniper and the high artesanal quality is evident.  It’s one of those tins that I won’t give any opinion on until it is done.  The complexion changes a bit with every pinch.

I bought about 7 little tins of WoS.  They’re all great but the scent is gone far too quickly, with the exception of the ylang ylang which ghosts your olfactory for hours.  

McChrystals Mild Lemon and Sturco are ok…nothing to write home about.

The SG black rappee and KB Original are the stars of my latest purchase.  I bought the black rappee because it was referenced in an old English book I was reading from the turn of the century.  I love the scent and raw presence but yeah…so wet and unruly.  KB Original reminded me of what snuff is all about.  Every once and a while I’ll try a product that begs to know why I keep fooling around with anything else…KB Original brought back that feeling.

@canadiansnuffer Unless you plan on using them all immediately, I would strongly suggest decanting the best dark into a glass jar. I have lost a few tins of best dark to rust due to the snuff being so moist. I have since bought Best Dark, Brunswick and Burgundy in plastic tubs to avoid this happening again. Princes and Grand Cairo are also ones that can be susceptible. One of the UK tobacconists has actually stopped stocking the metal tins of these snuffs for this very reason.

I definitely prefer the whisky note in this one to the original and the honey is more subdued and less chocolatey. First time with Rustica as well, my goodness what a beautiful ride it takes you on. Not overpowering at all, but opens your eyes to tobaccos history as an entheogen and powerful spiritual plant. Not just the nicotine, but there are other alkaloids at work here that make it a mindful experience. I don’t know what the ratio of rustica is in this, but this makes the pure stuff seem daunting.

JosephJames, this is my first order in the world of snuff. Really looking forward and appreciate the feedback. The only thing I’m working with right now is a container of Maccoboy Rose Scented. It’s very mediocre (believe it was sitting on the shelf for quite some time though). I’m located in the US, so I don’t have many options. Hoping my order will help me identify my ‘taste’!

@Tshaq I am in the US, also. I live in the South, so the grocery stores usually have a few snuffs like the old ladies used to put in their mouths. Some of them must still do it since the snuff is taking up retail space. Square and Superior are two decent ones the grocer carries. Otherwise, the options are indeed limited. We had a pipe shop that carried the Toque Silver Dollar snuffs. 

I haven’t tried Crumbs of Comfort but I did try Extra Crumbs of Comfort and it had a nice spearmint flavor to it. Anyway, you have some nice selections there. 

My order just arrived today. I went heavy on the deKralingse snuffs. The two I sampled so far are very good. I also grabbed some more Viking Thor’s Hammer. I expect any day for the government to shut off our avenue of snuff, so I am trying to stockpile as much as I can. 

@JosephJames, stockpile like crazy! Use the fridge for the SWS / Abraxas and the cabinet for everything else. I feel eventually we’ll be legislated out of an easy way to obtain snuff. And with the loss of Old Mill, we Americans have only overseas commercial choices. Btw, what would a lifetime of snuff be? Like 30 pounds , 50 pounds ?

It’s odd that the government has such an anti tobacco attitude. Federal buildings in DC have tobacco plants carved into them, the Senate has a snuffbox and the government derives a load of money from taxation on tobacco. 

In fact, I am somewhat curious as to what snuff they put in that Senate snuffbox.

I’m on day 15 now and my Mr.snuff order still hasn’t arrived - I hope it’s not stuck at customs. The “maybe tomorrow game” continues. That’s the way she goes

Don’t despair Orion, we have all been through the mr snuff waiting agony here in the states. Just remember, first world problems lol. Funnily enough, my last mr snuff order arrived in 5 days while my simultaneously processed Toque order took a whopping 14! Usually it’s the other way around, but my mr snuff order was all “tinned” tobacco while my Toque order was a 400 gram economy bag, customs? Yea you bet. Most recent order is two days ago, 50 gram bag of rustica from Toque. I loved the whisky and honey USA which has rustica in it so much, I decided lets go for the gusto and try the pure stuff. Or snuff as it were.

After 16 days I finally got my mr.snuff order in. Couldn’t wait to get some white elephant up my nose. the 100g pot luck was sorta a disappointment mostly just because I have 5 cans of WOS Brunswick and I can’t get a single one of them open. The 30g FUBAR SNAFU tin they sent me is also only half full but still seems ok, even though the idea seems kinda sketchy (personal issue).

@jmahes 750 grams if white elephant?! That would indeed last me a lifetime. I can’t snuff a lot of it. I wonder what Customs thought when they saw 750 grams of white powder coming through @orion The potluck is a great deal, in my opinion. I bought it once and got a great variety of snuffs. I have had tins of WoS get stuck before. I used a pocket knife to very gently push up the too, working my way around. I gently pushed the top back on and was able to open it after that.

@JosephJames well the WoS tins are kinda corroded and rusty on the outside. Still think what’s inside could still be good? I attributed the stickiness to the rustness

It’s worth opening them to see if they are good. I doubt if the rust is inside. My cans of WoS have jammed from snuff between the lid and bottom of the can, or from them getting dents. It doesn’t take much to dent one.

I have some Toque Quit and some Toque blueberry on the way. Also ordered a snuffmaster lite to give that a try.

@Tshaq Winter Warmer and Christmas pudding are really good. I also have tried Dolakhia Black and have 50 grams if it. Strong and pungent. Almost like animal dung smell but not disagreeable at all. I see Grand Cairo on your list. That is probably my all time favorite snuff of all. It would be my stranded on a desert snuff. I hope you like it. You have quite a selection. @RobertAnderson, hey man I just did some of this Toque today , after storing it for over a year in glass- amazing snuff! and very strong

I have only tried a handful of different snuffs and it was my favorite so far. First tin to go empty. I find I can do it all day long. Some snuffs plug me up and some snuffs leave my nose caked. This one is clean and gives me an upper nostril buzz that I crave. Until I try better… It Is my brand of snuff. Wish I had cash to order a couple thousand grams and store it.

I am relatively new to nasal snuff and I found this forum to be very helpful.  Evey time I walked in the local tobacco shop, the tins of snuff sitting on the shelf always caught my eye.  So, about 2 years ago, curiosity finally got the best of me and I bought a tin of Brutons Scotch snuff.  When I tried Brutons for the first time, it felt like someone put a gun into my nostrils and pulled the trigger.  That ended my career with snuff.  When I came across this forum, I found that my experience was not uncommon.  After reading a few threads, I found some great tips on how to make my snuff-taking a pleasant experience.  I gradually began using Brutons regularly and, soon enough, snuffing turned into a passion that I share along with my cigars.  So, I must say that I am grateful for this forum and for those who posted their suggestions!

So why am I posting this here?  Well, the local tobacco shops where I live sell either Brutons or Garret’s snuff.  When I came across Mr. Snuff’s website, I was amazed at the selection.  I began experimenting by placing a few orders, but I always resorted to Brutons as my regular.  Now, I would never have suspected that a mentholated snuff would soon be my regular - I had this bias when thinking about menthol cigarettes.  No offense to menthol cigarette smokers, but it’s not my cup of tea.  So now Hedge’s L260 is my holy grail of snuffs.

I just received my order from Mr. Snuff a couple of days and I was very relieved when it came in.  Usually, I have been getting my orders from Mr. Snuff in about a week.  However, this time it took 17 days to ship and I began to think that it was not going to make it past customs.  Tracking my shipment online showed that it sat in Chicago’s customs for about 2 weeks.  But my 12 pack of Hedges L260 and 1 can of Swisher Honey Bee made it through!!!  Thank God!  I searched high and low, I could not find any other vendor of snuff (except Brutons or Garret) than Mr. Snuff.  So, I must say that I am grateful for Mr. Snuff and I trust their reliability.

I thought Swisher Honey Bee would be an interesting buy.  I’ll post my review of it after giving it a fair try.  You never know when a snuff will one of your regulars!

My order arrived today. Toque Almond is excellent. The Toque Raspberry is good but I liked the menthol addition that silver dollar had. I haven’t opened the Lundy Foot yet. I ordered a Posh bullet. Loaded it with Toque Raspberry and it works very well.

@Aamon, the uncle squinty review is probably the best description. It’s very toasted, has what seems to me like a faint cocoa scent ( no cocoa in this snuff actually). Grind is fine but not like white elephant. I think " foot" refers to some geezer’s last name It has Rustica in it and has a great nicotine feel.

@Bizarrestaff If you haven’t tried the Toque Rustica yet it is by far the strongest snuff I’ve ever had. You can mix this with your weaker ones to rocket the Vitamin N off the roof. Its a fine snuff although I find it easy to snuff straight because of the moisture content

@jmahes Hi, I got my Toque Rustica in & have compared it to my Peruvian Rustica & there two completely different snuffs the toque will do good to have half the strength of the Peruvian nicotine wise, although it has a better flavor scent, but I have acquired a taste for the Peruvian. The Toque is a fantastic snuff & would probably appeal to most more so than the Peruvian unless like myself you snuff mainly for nicotine. I would say you need to try both yourself but you have to grind and make the Peruvian snuff yourself as it comes in a big log of tobacco, here is a picture of the Peruvina Mapacho Nicotiana Rustica.

Having so much snuff in bulk, and so little cash in the bank, it’s been a loooong time since I placed an order. However, I really wanted to try Toque’s Pumpkin Pie, so I’ve just ordered a couple of tins. SW Scotch is perfectly toasted, great leather,smoke  and tobacco balance.
Chocolate Eclair is nicely choco-fied. almost seems to have a chocolate liquor essence to my nose…lasting aroma but not sweet / candylike… Gonna do some more , right about now

@jmahes, I like the chocolate eclair as well. That scent can linger for awhile in a good way. Last time I had some, about 2 hours later or so I picked up the chocolate smell again after it faded. I need to get some more snuff from cobguy. Haven’t tried the south west scotch yet, but sounds good. I have the desert campfire which is good.

@Bizarrestaff you might like Viking Thor’s Hammer. It’s strong, moist and not a fine grind. I find F&T Santo Domingo similar to Thor’s Hammer.

@Bizarrestaff the only Viking product I have tried is Thor’s Hammer. It’s strong. Not white elephant strong, but plenty nicotine and easy to take because of grind and moisture.

sometimes there is smaller chunks of the Mapacho logs for sale but make sure you get the log & not a already processed version of the tobacco as I believe the processed versions are cut with something. G’Day Sir

EDIT: I forgot to mention you have to make the snuff yourself from the Mapacho Logs

@chris It was his last tin of Royal George. All he has left now is WoS Aniseed and Eucalyptus, Red Bull, and McC O&G… which basically means I need to find a new Plan B as I’m not a fan of “medicated” snuffs … Every other tin of snuff I’ve seen in town has been mentholated too.

Just received one of my orders from Lil Brown, not as good of a selection as Mr. Snuff so I just ordered some Wilsons… SP Crumbs of Comfort Best SP Irish Toast & Dr. Rumney Also got 10 packs of BJ Long pipe cleaners.

These aren’t the most convenient tins as they just open up and they don’t really allow you to tap little bit out at a time.  I’m guessing that it would just be best to use my Czech pipe tool to scoop some out and up my big sniffer.  How do you all do it?   Every time I open the container some snuff spills out… is there a technique to this?

@hawky454 the WoS containers are always overfilled (a good thing) I tap the bottom of the tin on a flat surface to settle the snuff. As for getting them in your nose simply take a pinch and snuff it, there are several guides to pinching on the site if you search.

@Hawky454 Here is how I do it: I take the lid of the tin and scoop a small amount. I tap it on the area of my hand between first finger and thumb. Sniff and enjoy. Another scoop for the other nostril. For me, I found pinching left snuff on my fingers and I don’t like to waste any. With the method I use, I don’t waste anything.

I just ordered a 50g bag of Toque Rustica. What am I in for boys?

It’s strong. I have had it in the custom Spanish Gem and the Toque USA Whiskey and Honey. Uncle Squinty did a review on it and suggests using it as a mixer, not pure. It has a unique smell. I put my bag of custom Spanish Gem in a bedroom storage area. Next day my wife is asking what the smell is. It is in jars now.

@Spekk I kind of enjoy the burn and the tear that it almost always brings to my eye when using it straight. Though I usually use my Rustica as Joseph stated as a mixer, I use it for snuff I love that im either running out of and need to amp up the nicotine or to make a nice weaker snuff into a mid to top nicotine level snuff. Defiantly worth getting and 50 grams should last you a fair while, just keep it in air tight jars for storage as usual.

I just went to snuff.me for the 1st time and ordered a whole bunch of Jaxsons, all types, and tried to order a drum of SG London Brown. The owner emailed me and said it’s only available as a special order, so I’m waiting to see if he gets back to me.

@mrmanos I think you’ll like the Jaxons. I have a real soft spot for SP Premium and English Toffee. Coffee Cream if quite nice too. I do have a couple of others that I haven’t tried yet, but I’m leaving them sealed for now to avoid having too many tins open at once.

That is a huge amount of snuff ? How often do you order ? Where did you order from ? How long does it take you to go through all of that…

@yisraeldov, 70% of the varietes are reorders, and most of them are 3xeach ( the 25g plain for example) for long term storage, (I am also cellaring lots of pipe tobacco) the rest of 30% (the 10g or smaller) are usually first timers out of which half of them I give away if I don’t like. I have a rotation of 4,5 varieties daily, and consume approx 30g per week.

Too bad that I’m certain these OSP snuffs are goung to be ridiculously priced and finicky to store like all ‘artisan’ snuffs. They all sound amazing.

@SandwhichIsles I actually completely understand your or anyone else’s apprehension regarding the cost if my (or any other) Artisan snuff. It’s an indulgence. It’s no different from my reluctance to go to our local roastery and pay four dollars for a cup of coffee. I do it once or twice a year, but I consider it a treat. I would like to defend myself on your assertion that I am ridiculously priced, though. I work full time at just over minimum wage at a factory that breaks my body, and father three children. I managed to squeeze an extra 30-40 hours a week in to build OSP, by getting up even earlier and staying up later. I funded this setting pennies aside, and best case scenario, if I manage to move every tin, I’ll recoup what I spent to make it. I didn’t even charge for my time. Technically, I’m even taking a hit on packaging (54 cents per tin) and shipping (15 cents per order). I did this as an artistic endeavor, and set the prices as low as I could afford to so as to share it with as many people as possible. I don’t say this to attack you, I say it in defense of myself when you put quotations around the word Artisan while referring to me.

Chris, I’m with you on the coffee analogy, and I don’t entertain those expensive cuppas either. Aside from the cost, I don’t like the taste. I’d rather just have a cheapo cup of instant. I’m bizarrely in a similar situation with snuff. On the occasions I have splashed out for something hand crafted, it hasn’t agreed with me due to grind, or backdrip, or whatever else. That’s not a criticism of the snuffs, just my bloody awkward face. I hope when I get some funds free and can sample your OSP snuffs, that my face is more compatible with them. I wish you every success in your endeavours my friend, but I won’t be able to join in at present due to health induced financial reasons. Good luck, keep at it, and remember that every obstacle, failure, or adverse criticism is just another lesson and building block in the foundation of something great. Have at 'em! :-bd

@hitsuzen. I shouldn’t have used the word ‘ridiculously’. I understand the amount of time and care that goes into handcrafting a product as I am a homebrewer. I really do wish you all the best in your endeavor.

I’m quite the opposite. I spend the extra money on craft and local brews, artisan alcohol, Artisan snuff, etc. My thoughts are if I’m going to spend the money on something, life is short and might as well spend the extra bucks(within reason) and get the better quality and tasting version. This includes the stipulation that I can actually notice the difference of quality between the standard stuff and the more expensive stuff. When I started snuffing and found snuffhouse, the first several months I was using Old Mill almost exclusively(until the passing of Chefdaniel). I don’t use much snuff. Im not an ex cigarette smoker, I just enjoy tobacco in the form of snuff, pipes, and cigars. I figured since I don’t use a lot of it, I can afford to buy artisan snuff from Chefdaniel and enjoy his blends. I’m glad Chris has started up his project. I will probably buy the snuffs rather than trying to make them myself, as the swmbo is already annoyed at the amount of hobbies I have. I do like making things, I’ve tried my hand at blending pipe tobaccos, home brew, and many other things. It’s always satisfying making your own stuff.

I was raise to learn to save money. Spend it where need and really only when you have to have something. This philosophy has so far worked for me in life. So about 90% of the time I get what I want. Works for me!

@nicmizer, Understandable. I don’t live beyond my means anymore(when I was in the military, I did). Now that I’m older and wiser, I don’t. I make sure all my bills will be paid, I put enough money in savings, and I give myself an allowance each month for discretionary items. If I still have funds in my allowance account, such as artisanal snuff, gin, etc. Ive become the type of person that would rather have quality over quantity. I’d rather go out to a restaurant that has better food but has regular sized portions, rather than go out to chili’s and have large portions that can feed me for 3 meals of mediocre food.

Have the following waiting for me at the post office, but I have a delima. I have a friend that I see on Friday mornings, before I’ll have a chance to pickup the package, who wants me to bring him a tin of “strong mint”. At the same time I have friends that I see on Friday night ( after I have picked up the package ) who rely on me to share a strong mentholated snuff. Now I’m just reviewing my order and I only see 2 mentholated, Extra Crumbs of Comfort and Vanilla Ice, neither have I tried before.

So the question is should I bring my friend my personal tin of “Extra Menthol” and take my chances with what I have in the package, or will we be left, stuffed up on Friday night ?

Maybe there is a mentholated snuff that I’m missing.

This doesn’t really count, but I almost bought a Cokesnuff display with 6x6 “unopened” tins (they’re tap tins, and since they’re from the late 60’s, I wouldn’t guess they’d be usable).  Been kept in “heated storage” for the past 40 years.  I think $240 was the asking price.  As cool as it would be for a snuff collector to have, I had to restrain myself.  I’d be the only one that would actually see it and give a crap.

Seems kind’a cool but never have seen or for that matter herd of the sort. Possibly a counterfeit or just somebody’s whitty idea. Certainly be wary IMO.

at that price I wouldnt be surprised if its loaded with cocaine! looks interesting though, maybe they were sued by coke for copyright infringements. Maybe @ArtChoo our private detective can find anything.

@yisraeldov - For the quandary of friends looking up to you like you are their snuff Lord, take a small plastic box and distribute it and so you have half of it for yourself, and then reorder. Sometimes friends get greedy, but then I don’t blame them since I am advocating snuff all the time, so they catch on. The key is, keep backup of stuff you already know your friends are going to ask you for, given a pattern. Everybody has one. :)

I got another package from Toque on the way and the OSP, 

Above photo of order without packing, just snuff I see is 839 grams or .839 kilos. Well over a kilo when you add the weight of the metal tins, cardboard boxes and ship packaging. The # I came up with is for just the physical snuff powder only.

I made a huge order fro Mr Snuff a month ago and still haven’t received anything. The first time I ordered I had no problems and it was pretty fast. Did anyone has waited more than that ?
 

@snufferdemedicis I have only had one long wait over ordering 260 grams, which has been converted to other sizes since 260 gram is no longer available. Order placed January. Still waiting. Not as long as some have waited, so I am being patient.

Hopefully only customs hold up. Had this happen to me also on past orders. You might be able to use tracking # to locate progress in transport.

I opened the Spanish Gem first then “Ambrosia”, primarily due to having read all the comments about it on here. The “tin note” from them both is amazing, I want to say a ‘chocolatey’ aroma although not by any means as cut & dry as that, I can’t quite put my finger on it yet but I will try and review them in due course.

One other thing I did notice was how much lighter in colour the SP Extra looks compared to the last tin of it I had?, last tin I had was around late summer or early autumn/fall last year. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has noticed this?

@Andy_B I got 400g of SP Extra earlier this month and the color is consistent to what I’ve seen.  How’s the scent?  Color compared to your tin of Quit?

The ‘lightness’ in colour I thought I saw, I think?, was only the ‘flat’ surface of snuff that’d been smoothed/made flat by the inside of the lid…giving it a wee stir causes it to appear darker of course

It looks really close to the colour of Quit a tad lighter maybe but only very slightly. Closer in colour to a fresh tin of Tom Buck…the scent & experience is as I remember it…‘citrusy’, bergamot of course but Toque SP Extra has a wee something extra (go figure lol), don’t know if it’s floral, spice or what but what an awesome SP!

@jmahes I’m loving the Latakia Blend too, but have you noticed how quickly it goes dry and stale after opening it?

@Hisuzen, yes it does go dry pretty quickly. I tend to take just little amounts out a time to avoid this. I might try hydrating to see if it will hold a bit more moisture.
Toque Ambrosia is the polar opposite, somewhat moist even after a week in an almost empty tin

@basement_shaman Thanks, the Anis can go in the bin - I absolutely hate it. The Helvetic edition seems to be the same as Gawith Apricot, but in a shiny and more expensive 7g tap box instead of a 10g. The other two should actually be Mythos Haudegen and Mythos X-Mas, both of which interest me as they are Swiss made with Swiss tobacco.

@Aviator64, frieburg and treyer used to be its own company, but they closed in the 1970’s I believe. Wilson of Sharrow bought the recipes and are producing them. From what I understand.

@Aviator64  You can hydrate the Cheetah to make it easier to use. and you can add it to less powerful snuff to bump up the vitamin N . The Special has been a long time favorite of mine. I always have some handy if I get clogged up.

Just received today from MrS: Sir Walter Scott’s Aged Border Rapee Sir Walter Scott’s Thrice Brewed Snuff Fribourg & Treyer Santo Domingo Sir Walter Scott’s Lundy Foot Snuff Bernard Gekachelter Virginie Samuel Gawith Black Rappee Viking Dark Sir Walter Scott’s Roslein Snuff Did a few toots of Bernard Virginie and F&T Santo Domingo. They are quite similar in color and taste, the Santo Domingo has a nice pleasant slighty perfumed taste while the Virginie is a more solid unadulterated tobacco flavor. I like 'em both a lot! Also with the same order: Snuff Turn Tin: Silver ABS Snuff Turn Tin: White ABS Snuff Turn Tin: Black ABS Snuff Turn Tin: Brown ABs Snuff Turn Tin: Gold ABS I got 2 of these on my last order and really liked them so ordered more. Very clever simple design. Perfect small size with a micro thin ring gasket that seals nicely and works like a sturdy tap box. Fits comfortably in the pocket. I love these things!

@MichaelP, from MrSnuff. Dave ordered 5-500gr sacks of it. There’s 3 left ( 1.5kg ). Very much reduced from what it cost last year too. Quite moist and the freshness is amazing. I think only Aecht Alt Schmalzler and Klostermischung come in this large amount.

I think this Father’s Day, I’m going to get lit on it
