WEG. just over two years ago I got interested in snuff. I read all the reviews on the Yahoo group, nasalsnuffbox. I mean ALL the reviews. Finally found a can of WEG in a sketchy part of town in one of the chain drug stores. Cost less than $3. I sat in my truck and pinched some up. I knew to take it slow from reading posts, so it didn’t kill me. It was amazing! I loved the smokiness and of course the nicotine. I ordered a bunch of WoS from Mars which I enjoyed, and I didn’t pick up the WEG for another six months. Now American snuffs are part of my daily rotation.

I was trying all tobacco products when I was 16. I went to my favorite tobacco shop (wonderfull place that no longer exsists) and saw the tins of dean swift said what the heck are these the owner of the shop demonstrated so I bought a tin liked it and bought three more convincing my friends to each buy three or so tins to makes sure we could try every flavour in the shop (unfortunatly just the full dean swift line). Then snuff disapeared from my town then I found mars then this forum and it’s been happy times since then

B

ROAM, I’m with you. Gawith Apricot! Loved it but it made my nose run like crazy! Kept at it though and finally came across Rooster. The rest is history. Heaven ever since! LOL. Tom NicotineRush.com

years ago, at college in sheffield. old fella and his wife became friends in local boozer. tried his wilsons sp no1, in little blue box. much sneezing, much laughter!

D

lol @rod ah and here i am sniffing it i thought i was doing something wrong lol farley i dont live in the area anymore but i do visit their quite a lot the next being in a few weeks (kids half term) so they can stay with their mum and nanni and i can escape i think a good pint and snuff session would be fantastic !

When I was about 14 or so I got a tin of Dr. Rumney’s medicated when I was at the tobacco shop buying some cloves. I had no idea what to do or how much to take. I took a big pinch and huffed it. I thought my head was going to explode. My eyes just about melted and I lost about a gallon of fluids from my nose and eyes. After I recuperated in an hour or so I thought not bad. I took a smaller pinch and sniffed slow. I was hooked.

S

I can’t recall any certain Kodak moment but me and my friends use to occasionally pick up a tin since they were right there on the candy aisle. Back then it was very easy for a kid to get tobacco, especially snuff as some of the tins looked like candy. I just remember it always turned out the same way with an incredible eye-ache and lots of tears and sneezing to go along with it. I couldn’t figure out why the hell anyone would pay to do this, but it never stopped me from trying again. It always appeared to be a cheap, convenient and discreet way of using baccy.

J

I am glad to know I’m not the only one with masochistic tendencies.

L

My first was Poschl’s Raspberry Menthol. It was given to me by my boss. This one didn’t burn at all, but sure made me sneeze. That was about 6 years ago, and I haven’t been able to find the Raspberry Menthol since. I’ve got some plain Raspberry which has a bit of menthol to it, but if my memory serves me the Raspberry Menthol was much better. Does anyone know if they still make this one or where I can get some?

J

Mars and mysmokeshop both have the ozona raspberry.

L

I’ve got a tin of the Ozona Raspberry, but the first snuff I had said Raspberry Menthol on it. I wonder if they’re the same thing, but the name changed?

T

M

I found this (below) on one of the websites I used to order from. I also went to the corporate website http://www.poeschl-tobacco.com/ and they don’t mention rasberry / menthol.

L

Apparently the raspberry menthol has been discontinued. Thanks for your help all.

T

leman, Don’t know if you will get the old stock or new but Smoke Shack has the raspberry listed with the old label as seen in the pic I added above. But they only sell their snuffs by the case. Raspberry @ Smoke Shack

The Toque is better

I have a feeling that I’ve commented on this topic already somewhere else. My very first encounter was at the age of about 14 and the snuff was Singleton’s Super Menthol. It was in a round silver coloured tin with a dispensing hole oin the side. And guess what?!! It’s still been made, here in South Africa, and I bought a “tin” today. Only the tin is now made out of plastic, it’s larger and it’s very cheap at R8.25 for about 12.5gram. Don’t know why it’s called “super” menthol because the menthol is quite mild and it’s got a nice sweet something in it. Funny also the warning says “Causes Cancer” but that may SA law. I will use it for the next couple of days and see how it goes. I also tried chewing tobacco at that age but it all but killed me. I swallowed the juice and it made me sick for 2 days. Never tried it again!! Regards Pieter

Interesting about Singletons - not seen that in years, who bought that one out then? My first experience was finding an old empty tin of Top Mill No 1 in my Dad’s workshop. As he was only an occasional pipe smoker, he had no idea what it was. I thought the tin was very cute (I was under 10) so I got hold of a new tin and had a go, blew my head off and didn’t touch it again til I was in my teens. At that point a few of us at school - for what reason I can’t remember - got into Hedges and me and another guy were the only ones left taking it when the novelty wore off. I got into smoking heavily but always used snuff on and off until a full time switch over when the smoking ban came in merry England in 07. Best move I ever made. I still have that kids fascination with it, which was sparked off by that cute tin all those years ago. I remember as well having a go on my Dad’s pipe, which he used to fill with Condor and getting very sick and also of making pipes out of Mum’s old lip stick containers and smoking tea with my brother. So my earliest ambition was to become a tobacco user which probably explains why I am a cop not a lawyer or doctor.

C

My first experience of snuff was in 1978 (Dr. Rumnneys Eucalyptus), been snuffing on and off ever since. Had no idea how many different types and makes of snuff there were until recently. My current favourites all belong to the F&T family.

A

Dr Rumney’s in the flip top tin with a picture of the good doctor on the front? Classic.

J

You have got to love the good Dr. I wish I had some but all I have is this pic off the net.

A

That tin brings back memories! How d’ya fancy that fucker treating you for piles!

S

Just had my first snuff moment today. I found a tin of Poschl Ozona President today (the only type they had) at a local tobacco store. It’s got a nice menthol scent/flavor with a hint of aniseed. I sneezed most of it out the first time, but after the second time, I dealt with it okay. It burned a little at first, but I’m a snuser that uses strong portions, so it didn’t even phase me, really. As a matter of fact, I found the nicotine level kind of average, but snuff definitely gives you a nice little boost and almost euphoric feeling that snus just can’t compare to.

W

Theres an indefinable lift that snuff gives you that no other tobacco does. Thats why I love snuff more each day. Stefan

I started using swedish snus to quit smoking. It went ok first, but I relapsed into smoking due to the pain in my gums from snus. I got interested in snuff, from collecting snuff boxes, and the first snuff I tried was Irish High Toast, Wilsons. I was living in South Canaan, close to Pocono Mountan in NE PA, and I remember it was like 28 degrees celsius frost, and I was so fed up with going out for a smoke! Then I ordered some IHT and my first pinch nearly killed me :o) I went half-blind, went reeling round the room sneezing; then I tried to walk down the corridor at the dorm where I lived to get help - moaning and sneezing insanely!!! Well, eventually I got over it, and decided never to do that to myself again. But of course - a few weeks later I ordered a half pound Tom Buck, and this time pinching went much better! However I only became a snuff user, when after graduating my Master’s in 07 I went back to Denmark. I haven’t tried that many snuff varities, but since I am friendly with the sales representatives at Wilsons, and that has turned out to be my favorite snuff mill, I stick to their products. Today I could not imagine a life without my snuff box and a good pinch :o) Lately my chain-smoking mother of 63 has become very interested in Dholakia Kamal, and I had to give her a silver snuff bux with a little mirror in the lid, of course full of Kamal :o) Eventually I pray she will give up smoking for pinching.

J

My first snuff was nutmeg. Very mind dulling. I never really got into it due to it’s toxicity. Good thing it was not addictive.

T

I had no idea snuff even existed until around a year ago. I heard some of the guys on alt.smokers.pipes talking about this ‘nasal snuff’ stuff. I looked it up online and found some videos, and yeap, here were some guys taking tobacco up the nose. One day at the local tobacconist, I saw they had Gawith Apricot, and seeing that brand in a video online, I bought a pack.

J

Get the wilsons jockey club it is so much better. It is best SP and a little floral.

V

Yes Wilsins Jockey Club is really good - I just started on a 250g container :o)

J

I read about snuff on a local forum , a few guys were asking if anybody traveling abroad could bring back some snuff and was a bit curious , after 6 months or so i finally found some at a shop, bought 3 packs (ozona president , gawith apricot and lowenprise ). I took a good deal of each but couldn’t feel any flavor but the menthol, it took a while until i did.

S

My work banned smoking even on the sidewalk, so went my search. NRT - Nicotine Replacement Therapy this and NRT that and then Howdy Dave website came up and Nicotine Rush was in it. I said Oh! I’ve seen that red canister at Walgreens. Garrett Sweet. after work I picked it up. overpriced at $5.29 but said what the heck. Little pinch here and there and my first order was Santo Domingo, Wilson’s R&B and Packard’s Club + 2 gr of Rooster… Looking back now; what was I thinking? the Bulk concept has changed. Oh yeah. Sparrow is butter. Give it a chance.

N

Pruning in the Vineyard. January 2008 I just received my sample from Toque. It was Original. I’ve been snuffing ever since and haven’t touched a cigarette since!

P

My first pinch was purloined from an uncle’s snuffbox sitting on his desk in a flat in Putney in about 1963. I now know that the snuff in question was Bordeaux, but in haste whipped down to the tobacconist to buy what I could - which was a tin of J&H Wilsons S.P No.1. I’ve been hopelessly addicted ever since.
