Your First Sniff

What was your first snuff you ever sniffed?

For me, it was Wilsons of Sharrow - Tom Buck.

@Transistor : I read that that was your first snuff too!  Damn good snuff.

If there is a duplicate topic somewhere that I over-looked, please feel free to close this bugger lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Molens Latakia AO 1860 - I still love that stuff to this day.

Garrett Scotch

W.E. Garrett Sweet & Mild…only thing they had at the corner liquor store/smoke shop, but turned out that was okay.

Copenhagen, because I had no clue.  Well, it says “snuff” on it!

After that I think it was either Three Thistle or Railroad Mills.

Toque Original, then F&T Old Paris. I definitely got off to a running start.

Levi Garrett, followed by Tom Buck

Gletscherprise

Navy in the mid 80’s. Those two pinches lasted me 20+ years. Toque Pomegranate was the one that truly started me on this path.

O&G

Mid 80’s in the highschool lunchroom one day we laid out giant lines of Tube Rose across the table and had a contest to see who could take the most in a single snort…not the greatest of ideas but was my first ever.

O&G. A friend brought me over a tin from England. Though nice, the menthol felt like sacrilege and I quickly found one of the few places in Toronto that carries McC’s SP. Eventually I was ordering from Wilsons (Sharrow). But I still keep a tin of O&G about and take a daily pinch.

@mikemoose TB was one of them but I think my VERY first was SG Raspberry to be honest- however that was from a sneeze box so I consider TB to be my first REAL experience

Navy Sweet. Certainly not the best for a first pinch.  Dental was my second.

Navy Plain.   Yeah…it hurt (I was somewhere between 8-10 years of age).  Luckily, it didn’t scare me away forever.

About 1971. I got a Rumneys, a Hedges and a Top Mill No 1 and tried each plus one in a silver coloured plastic tin that must have been very space age for the time. I was seven.

Come to think of it: can any of the ‘old masters’ on the site remember a mentholated snuff that came in a metalised, silver coloured, plastic container the size of a small, round WoS tin?

Sounds like Singleton’s.

Molens Prins Regent.

It was very out of place with the rest - metalic/silver plastic was like something from Mars compared to dear old Doctor Rumney with his eyes, behind which was playing a mental soundtrack along the lines of ‘I will kill and dismember you’, and had been playing, soothingly as long as he had lived?
