This might sound a bit silly, but I somehow prefer the left nostril. I mean I always snuff with both, but for some reason its much more likely to get some snuff in my throat when I use my right nostril. So Im curious, do you have a favourite one too?

Quite the same in my case, except the fact that the right nostril is the one I prefer.

LMAO I was thinking this SAME THING! I was beginning to think I was the only one with this problem… I have to be more careful with my right than my left for some reason… and I always end up snuffing more with my right because sometimes it just goes to my throat

Left nostril works better for me too because my right nostril clogs easier. Often I just pass the right and snuff with the left nostril.

I’m the same way. Usually what I do is most of my pinch goes in my left nostril. Then I use my right nostril to ‘clean’ off my fingers. I read on here how even though you’re thinking about using whichever nostril works best, your brain still takes in air through both. When I’m feeling adventurous and try to use my right nostril. I just pretend I’m getting ready to use my left nostril and don’t concentrate at all on the ‘bad’ nostril.

Right nostril. With age my hands have gotten spastic. Left hand + left nostril = tobacco all over my shirt, all over the desk, all over one of the cats, etc.

I’m quite happy to say that since I kicked the nasal spray I can use both just about all the time. I’ll never touch that stuff again.

It bothers me a lot of one nostril is plugged and I can’t snuff in both. I end up taking pinches of “irritating” snuffs and blowing until they are both open.

Same here, by Zeus! Although I’m in the ‘preferring the right nostril’ brigade. Using the back-of-the-hand method, I often tend to hoover up most with the right, then ‘finish off’ with the left.

I’m ambi-nostrilled. I use both about the same.

Left nostril works better, nose has been broken a couple of times and the right one is just not what it used to be. Nose leans that way a bit now and makes the right one a bit smaller.

Great thread @nunoH – Pinches are with the right-hand fingers, begin with a wee whiff in the right nostril, followed by a bigger snort in the left–from the same pinch, repeated as necessary; tap boxes are held with the right hand and snuffed from the left hand, into the right nostril first and cleaned up with the left; bullets are held with the hand and twisted with the right, then the bullet is shifted to the right hand, and will hit the right nostril, repeated at alternating nostrils as necessary. (At least that’s how I did all these as I just now tried.)

Left. Right one seems half clogged more times than not these days. I think I need to neti pot more often. I’ve gotten out of the habit of using it daily.

I always pinch with my right hand and go to the left first then right. I go to the left first because the nasal passage on the left is slightly narrower than on the right, so I have to sniff slightly harder. If I went to the right first, when I sniffed harder for the left Id snort the snuff already in the right…if that makes sense? Hell I’ve confused myself…

I usually take a pinch, do the right, take another and do the left. I dont know why but the right side feels better. Maybe its because im right handed… I used to always use the left with other substances

I never paid attention to which nostril I used first until I saw this thread. I guess I usually do the left first.

I’m one of those folk who can only ever breath through one nostril at a time, so whichever nostrils free!

I usually use both nostrils. I cant stand when i am using only one. I want to have the feeling on both holes.

I use both, but there is a catch. I must pinch in my right, and spoon or back of the hand the left. Any deviation from this results in throat and sinus “injury”.

Woah…wild topic. Hi guys… such a coinsidence going on here. While I’ve only been snuffing a lil over a month now I found the topic on hand a commonality amongst the poster. Wow… lets bond Anyway I too noticed this recently. While snuff up the left side brings the most pleasant and easy snuff experiance, the right side I have to try and be more carefull with ( I usually fail) and some snuff ends up too far into the sinus’s or worse yet (cough, hack) on the back of the throat. Why is this such a common place? I mean Most people are experiencing the same thing on the same sides. It can’t be because of the right hand left hand thing. I know I’ve tried swapping. FAIL ! A Spoon does seem to make a milder improvement. Oh well… I’ll just enjoy my snuff anyway.

I don’t get on with my left nostril. My right nostril is better for snuffing as its slightly blocked by bone and stops the snuff hitting my throat. For snuffs which irritate my throat (mainly toasts for some reason) I put plenty up my right nostril and much less in my left. As others have said, I thought I was unusual in this respect.

Hah, gotta love Snuffhouse.  I took a shot in the dark to see if anyone started a thread on this, and sure enough, others have written about this subject.  I’ve got one nostril that’s better for Schmalzlers, and the other is harder to get snuff up (better for toasts).  Maybe it’s because human’s aren’t perfectly symmetrical.  Anyway, there’s the cool video above, so I thought I’d bump this.  

For me it depends what side I was sleeping last for instance if was sleeping last on my right side last my left<-nasal seems more open/clear and if I was last sleeping on my left my right-> side seems open/clear.and if I was on my back both nostrils seem the same(little stuffed up) Every1 is not the same and have their their own superstitions / rituals I guess :-SS lol But if I had to pick a side I usually/mostly go with me right->1st.

I load the left first. I used to think that my right was either more tolerant (less burn) or took in less airflow which resulted in less burn until I tried right first and realized that it is no different. I think what happens is that your first nostril takes on the initial but all to pleasant shock and by the time you get to the next nostril your brain has adjusted to what is coming in. LOL

786  I love both of mine equally!  Unless there is blockage or another extenuating circumstance, I have always gone right nostril then left.  This is true whether I’m using a pinch, spoon, boxcar, anatomical snuffbox or bullet. 

I favour which ever is more closed at the time. Less chance of the snuff going past the sweet spot

I can shovel 41P WE up my left hooter without much trauma, but no matter how hard I try I cannot avoid pain and suffering via the right one.

It depends entirely on my consumption of adult beverages, so I usually aim for the middle one and hope for the best.    8-}

Left is favorite here with the dry ones the right one will deliver the snuff in my lungs in a heartbeat

My nostrils change  back and forth pretty often. Guess they’re both competing for my attention
