First of all wanted to stop by and say hello to all members here. I’m very glad to have found this forum since I learned a lot about snuff from the posts I found here so yeah : thank you. I’m fairly new to snuffing about a month now and I have to say this snuff stuff helped me a great deal in quitting smoking. Much better then the patch, the gum and other products that I tried; there is something about the snuff that just hits the spot for me like nothing else and helped me make the final push and give up cigarettes altogether. Unfortunately the pact hit right after I got into it and I was able to place only a small order with nicrush ; I live in LA California and I still have to find a brick & mortar store that sells snuff…if anybody has any info on that please let me know!!!… I’m a little confused with all this pact thing to be honest; if I would order from a UK based store for example would they deliver in US? Is this only for US retailers or applies to everyone? I had some dried irish flake from peterson and I must say after grinding and a drop of whiskey turned into a pretty good snuff with a good nic hit… : ) anybody know of any other good pipe tobacco that can turn into good snuff??? I’m not desperate lol I have enough snuff to last me for a while but I do enjoy experimenting and creating my own as well…I was reading around here that some of the RYO American Spirit and other natural RYO or cigarettes tobacco would make a good/OK snuff. Anyone here who has tried it and can comment on the taste and the nic hit ? Ok time for a second coffee and some snuffing before work…
I have yet to be disappointed with the flavor of a ground up English pipe blend in the nose. Good to hear you are having luck quitting as well. After a month or so of snuffing, the thought of a cigarette disgusts me. I smell second hand smoke and cringe instead of crave. Snuff is 10x more enjoyable and satisfying than any old cigarette. Mr. Snuff, SnuffStore, and ToqueSnuff.com are all UK based stores that are still currently shipping to the US. Check the ads on the left.
Same here, snuff scratched the itch good and now I feel I can enjoy cigars and pipes better puffing them vs before pseudo inhaling them as a cigarette substitute. Snuff really was the only thing that cut it. Ken
hi ra.stanit . i live in redondo beach the local smoke shop has a few poschl snuffs and couple of gawith hoggarth and garret snuffs if you go to a local smoke shop most have at least one or two american snuffs just look around
@devilock76 you are absolutely right, i also enjoy my occasional pipe a whole lot more now that i’m not being obsessed with inhaling the smoke; actually to be honest after i start snuffing and quit the ciggs it was the first time ever i smoked a pipe without inhaling… happy to hear that i can still order from UK… i know a smoke shop in Glendale (tobacco planet) i used to buy my pipe favorites there but i didn’t actually had the time since i start snuffing to go check it out for snuff… by the way i love Latakia blends for my pipe; anybody can recommend a Latakia snuff blend ? thanks. Ra.
@ra.stanit, the best latakia I’ve had so far is De Kralingse Latakia Ao1860. You can do yourself a favour and check Snuff Reviews.com for reviews on this lovely snuff.
I actually started on cigars. Albeit cheap cigars. Moving to cigarettes was a convenience factor. Snuff has proven MORE convenient in the modern times. Ken
I don’t think there are any snuffs containing Latakia tobacco on the market any more. De Kralingse Latakia AO1860 doesn’t have any Latakia in it.
The only way I’ve found to get a really dominantly flavored latakia snuff is to get some pipe tobacco, dry it out and grind it up.
@ BradMajors :The Kralingse Latakia 1860 does not have any Latakia in it ? Are you crazy ( LOL ) - it’s ONLY Latakia, and a lot of there other snuffs have Latakia as a base ingredient !
He’s not crazy. Its not real Latakia: http://snuffhouse.org/?CommentID=17169
OH! I feel stupid now. But WHY. It’s the same as calling banana yogurt Strawberry yogurt. You got me there Jaap! Excuse me Brad.
I think the real stuff is cost prohibitive, especially for a non-profit outfit.
@Micheltn: No worries ! Wilsons, Samuel Gawith, G. Smith and Frederick Tranter all used to do Latakia snuffs but as Xander says, it’s possible that real Latakia is now too expensive.
I got into snuff as a non-smoker. Okay, I’ll admit to the occasional cigar, (I have a small humidor I used to keep a few handy in), but I never liked the smell of cigarettes. I mainly like snuff as an aromatic pursuit but the nicotine lift is a nice bonus. Anyhow, congratulations on quitting. I hear it’s easier to give up heroin than to escape the cigarettes.
i don’t know for others but for me was definitely the hardest thing i ever had to give up and thanks to the snuff i did it, now after a month whenever it happens to smell cigarette smoke i find myself wondering how in the world was i able to smoke that shit for so long; … thank you all for all the comments i will give The Kralingse Latakia 1860 a try even though is not real latakia if resembles the smokiness and flavor i might like it , a lot!.. Ra.
Yes nicotine is more addictive then herion. Debatably the withdraw isn’t as bad but that isn’t what makes something addictive. I’ll put it this way it’s easier to find a former junkie that can’t quite smoking then it is to find a former smoker that can’t quit junking (???seems like the right word)
Straight Latakia is available from most tobacconists as a blending baccy. Seems like it would be easy enough to grind some up and add it to whatever?
The story I heard is that there was a huge warehouse fire that destroyed a large percentage of the Syrian Latakia crop a couple years ago. All that was available for a while was Latakia from Cyprus, which is considered to be of significantly lower quality. Syrian Latakia has since come back on the market, but demand has kept the price sky-high. Personally I loathe the stuff, and won’t buy any pipe blend or snuff containing even a small percentage of Latakia. But I know many people cherish it, so to each his or her own. As far as cigarettes go, I think snuff has finally gotten me off the damn cancer sticks completely. Even with snus and the occasional pipe, I was still smoking one or two a day. But I haven’t smoked one for a few days now, and I don’t really miss them.
