Check this out!!

How do you order? I wanna get a little pocket bottle…

My experience with snuff bottles is that they don’t carry well in a pocket; can easily come uncorked. But there are some beautiful bottles out there!

I like this one best: http://www.snuffbottle.org/snuffbottle.aspx?id=1432

Those are pretty pimp. I’ve never owned one, but they look like they are meant to be table top containers…is this right?

I have a few dozen bottles of various types. Not good for storing snuff but fine for carry around. You will be limited to spooning or off the back of hand unless you don’t mind wasting a little. I think they are cool and worth looking into. There are a few that are reproductions and useless though, also some are not so air tight. As a rule I have found that any of the ones with bone spoons are the most useful. My favorite is made of jasper stone and has a little London brown left in it.

I might be reading too much into Juxtaposer’s comment, but I’m getting that “beware of ebay, and do your research before buying vibe”. Not to knock ebay, but the number of snuff bottles i see listed, and some of the low prices raise a red flag for me…I’m glad this thread was started since now I understand that there are precautions to be taken to ensure that you are getting an authentic snuff bottle. Oh, and my earlier question was answered, Thank you Juxtaposer.

I bought a jade bottle from Hoffman’s http://hoffmanjade.com/index.html several months ago and it was up to specs. He uses paypal and I got the bottle in less than a week. According to the Asian art curator at a local museum, the bottle was made from good quality jade.

Whoa, I didn’t know there are so many people interested in Chinese snuff bottles. Thanks, Pieter. FischTix, I understand you. They sure look fishy, but Asian eBay vendors usually work some sort of magic and sell things at ridiculously low prices (specially in free shipping items that look like they cost less than the shipping alone). snuffgrinder, Hoffman’s bottles are gorgeous! I wish I had enough money to buy one too, but, well, having good snuff is enough for me, so I’ll deal with it. Oh, and ddavelarsen and Juxtaposer, if I may ask, where did you buy your bottles?

@Menma Thanks for the info…I like to hear a trusted opinion before jumping into anything sight unseen. That makes me feel much better about choosing one, and getting a quality bargain off of ebay.

Oh, you’re welcome @FischTix . I understand you. Buying things you can’t see in person beforehand can make you feel uneasy, so it’s normal you want to hear someone else’s experiences. I think the ones who can help the most in knowing where to buy cheap ones are ddavelarsen and Juxtaposer (the ones in the page snuffgrinder showed are great, though reasonably not cheap), so we’ll have to wait for their answer.

E-Bay …What I did was get a few super cheap (free shipping) examples of the different types. I have found a few resin carvings not hollowed out, and some bone and Tibetan coin models with tiny holes. My favorite types are the stone and the bone ones. All in all it’s fun getting little boxes in the mail.

@Juxtaposer Agree…I love getting boxes in the mail…I like the more natural materials as well, and will keep an eye out for some decent stone, or bone bottles. Thanks for the info!

I really think that some of the bottles on this page look fu***ng awesome!

sorry for double post

OK, Thanks Juxtaposer! I’ll look around eBay. And yup, it’s great when the things you order finally arrive. Oh and it’s true that things made with natural materials are usually more lovable (and more pleasant to touch). Prismaster, yeah, snuff bottles sure are great
