Hey all, I just ordered the box described above, and naturally it wasn’t until after ordering that I noticed it is marketed as being for table-top use. Does this mean I won’t be able to pack it around in my pocket? If so, how come? Cheers.

It’s likely because it’s either too large to conveniently fit in a pocket, or more likely, because the latch isn’t secure enough to prevent it opening in your pocket. You wouldn’t want to fill it up with your favourite snuff and wind up with a pocket full of snuff.

Its probably heavy enough to pull your pants down too, unless you wear suspenders.

I have two of this type. They are a bit large and heavy and the tops flap a bit but if you don’t put to much snuff inside, you can carry them in your pocket with no loss of snuff.

Works great in my truck. Makes it easy to take a pinch during long drives on the freeway. Not something I would want in my pocket. Too heavy.

Got it. Thanks Gents. Any suggestions on a good old-timey metal snuff box that I could buy that will not kill my bank acct.? I need a really good one that will stay closed and not leak, look at home in a time machine, and be comfortable in a shirt pocket.

I know they are a bir pricey but you could never go wrong by investing in a silver box - once you’ve got one it will last forever so might be worth considering. Apart from the snuff store ones, if you do a search on ‘very small silver snuff boxes’ there is a link to a site that sells them for about $40, and silver keeps snuff in fantastic condition. Apart from that you are really stuck with pewter boxes that cost about the same as silver and are not a fraction as good. You don’t see plain metal boxes very much these days and to be honest most of them were crap and very leaky. I don’t know if Rajeks are still in business but they were the last store where I saw plain metal boxes advertised.

Thanks a lot snuffster I’ll check that sight right away. It’s all a great excuse for more silver which is my favourite metal.
