New snuff box on MrSnuff site. Looks nice, like the Rococo plastic boxes with curved faces but no dimensions given.
Yeah, would like to know dimensions. Pic looks like the larger Rococo size which is what I like.
@MrSnuff Lets ask. Dimensions of Wilsons snuff box. Similar to Rococo box?
I want.
New fliptop and pour hole snuffbox?
I’m getting a security certificate error off the site. I’ll take a look when that’s been fixed
RE: that error- i get it too, but once through https all looks good again in the address bar.
i use https, but google chrome (my browser) gives a certificate warning. this is what i get. if i proceed, then access the site again in the next day, the https in the address bar flashes like it is in this screenshot then back to normal. Interesting considering i remember @roderick saying his site was compromised recently, but in a different way i think.
@MrSnuff Three different browsers, two different computers, both are saying your security certificate has expired. I did try both http and https in one of them - no joy!
@MrSnuff wrong thread Butt… I get a pop-up box that says ( Only secure content is displayed )
Looks identical to the Bernards snuff box to me, in which case the dimensions are 3.5x2x1"
Hmmmm. A little large then. The Rococo boxes are just right for my pocket and amt. of snuff. Of course I carry two. Yes it does look the same. Dimensions per the Bernard site: 8,5 x 5,0 x 2,8 cm.
@MrSnuff Thanks for the heads up Dave. www.mistersnuff.com is working fine without any errors/warnings So back to topic … that Wilsons box looks quite nice. Confirmation of sizes would be nice though (from whoever gets their paws on one first)
See post above on size. Sure looks like the same box.
Yep, spotted it, thanks. Just hoping someone who’s got/getting one can confirm for definite it is the same. Cheers
It looks exactly like one that I got from MySmokingShop and it is large! It is slightly longer and wider than the Mr Snuff boxes but at least twice as deep. I emptied a 25g tin of SP into it and it is not even half full.

That certainly is large! Why on earth would someone want a pocket snuffbox that holds 50g? I’ve just been comparing the dimensions to the Sharrow Slidebox which sits on my desk (too large for pocket carry IMO) and the plastic one dwarfs it, plus doesn’t have the fat wall, so holding >50g does make sense
@50ft_trad - Yes I was very surprised when it arrived. It is airtight but unless you filled it completely - and kept it filled to the brim - then there will a great deal of air in it so the snuff will dry out. So unless you consume a vast amount of one brand of snuff per day it is rather impractical. The chap in the “Gentleman’s Guide to Snuff Taking” video is holding a 50g tin and refers to taking a pinch every 5 to 10 minutes so I suppose if you take that much per day then a box this size does make sense. It is certainly solid and well constructed so could easily be used all day every day.
Thanks for the feedback @chris I think I’ll stick to my Mr Snuff and Snuffhouse boxes
A large box like this would be good for leaf chew ,or RYO tobacco.
#-o I can’t believe I never considered it for hand rolling … considering that’s what I do every day, that’s pretty short sighted of me :)) Thanks @basement_shamen that’s something else for my next order, along with GH Cherry and WoS Winter Warmer
@basement_shaman - I don’t use chew or RYO but it would be perfect for carrying flake pipe tobacco or even a couple of bowls of non-flake tobacco. Thanks for the lateral thinking
@chris I have used the bernard boxes due to there large size for fishing. One for bait and one for tackle. But boxes have been used for many purposes other than tobacco. They do have a nice feel and the flip top lid is the best to access.I use the rococo plastic box for flake tobacco and I have several pewter boxes I carry snus in. I do like the Ergonomic design
@basement_shaman - I don’t have any Bernard boxes so I can’t compare them. But since receiving the box - and in the interests of recycling - I have been thinking about what else it could be used for but in every case the box was either too large, or too small, for whatever item(s) I was thinking of using it for. Your suggestion of using it for bait and tackle sounds sensible but I don’t fish! I completely missed using it for other tobacco products until I saw your comment. Given the length of GH flakes I can fold them up to the correct length and get quite a lot of pipe tobacco into the box. At least then the box is still being used for a tobacco product - its intended purpose - a feeling that probably suggests that I am a sentimental old fool.
I just ordered one a couple days ago so I’m waiting for it to come in. Got the snuffhouse one in Orange and the Wilson’s is Black (Geek Squad colors, we can get a little obsessive) so I’ll be sure to post a picture of them side by side for comparison, as well as taking notes on the actual measurements.
@AgentMatt Thanks. I do like the Rococo boxes and find them to be a perfect size for daily use. I carry 2 with different snuffs in them. Seem to be well made. Tight and durable. Use the Snuffhouse ones for "special / trial snuffs)
Ok, as promised, the snuffhouse box is the orange one, Wilson’s is black, for further comparison I’ve placed a Fribourg & Treyer 25g tin about 1 centimeter behind them. Measurements to follow as soon as I find something more specific than a USD.
That is pretty mammoth! Thanks for the comparison pic @AgentMatt
i have a tin that was ridiculously cheap, and its supposedly 2.75" wide and round, with curved out top and bottom. im thinking of putting chew in it till i run out, and then using it for snus, because its so big to me. im more after a snuffhouse box size i reckon.
It’s an awesome box, I’ve got my HDT in there right now, just because I figure it would suffer least from the excess air.
