Hi, Tried the small tin of WOS rum and blackberry. The snuff itself is OK but does not resemble the above flavours in my opinion. Eventually mentholated it with a touch of Hedges L260 and it was better. I don’t think WOS snuffs are to my nasal taste so far. Don’t like Royal George or the rum and blackberry. Can anyone add some suggestions that may change my mind lol Cheers

The more popular WoS offerings are popular for a reason, but caveat emptor most WoS snuffs are dry and fine grained so don’t expect something else will show up when you pop the lid. Here are a batch I enjoy and think have pretty universal appeal: Irish High Toast #22, SM500, Tom Buck, Aniseed Extra, Crumbs of Comfort, Camphor & Mild, Grand Cairo & Gold Label. There is also WoS Brunswick which is a moist-ish very dark colored snuff with a complex citrus/floral scent that I really like.

Yes. Give up on the stuff. It’s hopeless. If you want high quality fruit flavoring go with Toque.

This snuff gets a ba rap, i like it. Dont really detect rum, but the blackberry aint bad and leaves room or tobacco.

WoS Rum and Blackberry was once, long ago, one of their “special offerings” with a different label design, same old tin and base flour. I think Irish Coffee, Vanilla, Tangerine and a couple others were in that category until they decided to drop that nonsense and mainstream them into the primary range. That was maybe 15-20 years ago. They weren’t bad, just not special other than the scenting was different from their main catalog at the time. I got them in 25’s from Mars Cigars for pretty cheap-about $2.50 each. None of them had the intensity of scent that would have put them in another league; weak, with plenty of room for the tobacco to come through, fleeting scent and a finely milled, dry flour. I tried some of the current version a few months ago. Nothing’s changed. Good, not great, snuff. In those god awful crappy tins. We know they can do better; they have F&T so the technology doesn’t elude them. Most likely they’re sitting on an inventory of 76.6 Gazillion of them and don’t want to jettison them into the Thames just so they can join the 21st century packaging revolution.

@ivan some very good suggestions. Camphor & mild, especially, I tried it recently and was very happy to. Their SP range is unrivalled, imo- gold label really stands out for me. I agree with @fredh, as well, for fruits, get Toque.

I do not have but two tins of Toque ( Toast and Marmalade , Whiskey and Honey ) so I cannot attest to their fruit offerings. I do however have a tin of the Rum and Blackberry from WOS - and I kinda dig it, actually .

I do like the Rum and Blackberry. To me it’s one of the “fun” snuffs, akin to some of the Toque varieties which are nice for a change of pace. I like a few of these more light hearted snuffs, including Chocolate Orange and Irish Coffee Like many Wilsons snuffs (dependent on storage conditions), they can occasionally benefit for a little extra hydration, which doesn’t just take change the dusty back to fluffy, but also helps refresh the flavour a bit too.
