Wilsons Price Increase

Received a new Private List and Order Form today Prices have been revised as follows: Drum--------£25------£30-----20% 1/2 Drum—£14------£16-----14% Large Tin—£2.25—£2.70—20% Medium-----£1.25—£1.50—20% Small--------£0.90—£1.10—22% F&T were £3.10 and £5.40 - now £3.35 and £5.90 * Both figures are inclusive of 17.5% VAT Hope other manufacturers will not follow.

I received a half pound drum of SP today and was charged at the old rate, the ‘snuff by post’ leaflet they always put in shows the new prices however.

That’s quite an increase, and certainly above inflation. When did they last put up their prices?!!

To be fair the prices still include free P&P. They’re also still cheaper than Toque or McChrystals and about on a par with Samuel Gawith now.

How do I order directly from Wilson’s?

I just call them to place an order (01142 662677). It’s free shipping in the U.K. but they will ship to anywhere except the States for an additional charge.

I noticed the price of gawith hoggarth on mysmokingshop went up 9p on 25g not so long back. i wonder if this is just the price through wilsons direct or if it will filter through to the tobacconists as well. £16 delivered for half drum is not that bad Philips if i can ask where did you get the Private List and Order Form?

@Stu90 - If you open an account with them or order direct by post you will receive one with your purchase. The postal address is: Wilsons & Co. (Sharrow) Ltd PO Box 32 Sharrow Mills Sheffield S11 8TE The prices I’ve provided are correct as of April 2010. If you wish to pay by cheque then the payee is Wilsons & Co (Sharrow) Ltd. There is a minimum order of £10. Alternatively send an e-mail to Carol Walker at Carol@sharrowmills.com and ask for the list and order form as a Word doc file (Snuff by Post Leaflet (UK).doc). You can then print it out yourself, complete it and post it with your preferred payment method. With your delivery you will receive a hard copy of the list and order form plus a 2nd class prepaid envelope.

Thanks for info PhilipS

thanks for the info, guys!

So they won’t ship to the States?

According to their homepage (sharrowmills.com) they won’t ship to the States due to “new credit card rules”.

*cough* racket *cough*

The home page is indeed worded “…no longer ship…” but according to an e-mail response just received, Wilsons will ship to the US provided payment is made with International Bank Cheques, it’s US credit card sales they can’t/won’t process.

It’s definitely a case of “can’t” not “won’t”. All down to the card processing companies.

Yet there are UK based vendors who do have CC processors that accept US credit card sales. S’pose the US market just isn’t large enough for them to warrant switching processing companies?

No, I think the ones that won’t switch processing companies have been fed some goose poo by the processing company they have. My impression is that they think the ones that do ship here are somehow breaking the law.

I’m sure you’re on the mark there, Alex.
