Wilsons Of Sharrow Snuff Rum & Blackberry

Wilson Of Sharrow Rum & Blackberry Snuff. At first I noticed a pungent scent. I was expecting to smell something close to Rum & Blackberry. The scent (flavor) of Rum & Blackberry is very modest. This snuff is slightly moist and course. An experienced snuffer would like this one I think. It has a strong scent and a rich tobacco taste. It has a hard hitting punch (sting). I could not detect the flavor of Rum and Blackberry or any sweetness. It’s definitely a snuff gentlemen would prefer. I would not recommend it for a beginners to try first. If you love and enjoy strong cigar this could possibly be a favorite in your collection. This snuff definitely stands in the category of traditional tobacco snuff. The snuff is a soft medium brown color. I even had a Cigar smoker try many of the snuffs I’ve been collecting over the past few weeks. This was his Top favorite. “ I love a good Cigar”. The Tobacco in this snuff was very satisfying to him. I even ended up leaving it there with him. Since he was such a good sport to taste a few snuffs, even though snuff was not a favorite of his. His memory of snuff was like mine. Grandmother using snuff and that old musty house smell it had. I wanted him to see how much snuff had changed and what snuff is like outside the USA.

This is a love it or hate it snuff. There are many on this forum who hate it but I am one who likes it.

I almost didn’t want to try it because of the smell. But what the heck! I was looking for fruit flavor, but discovered a good tobacco.

Magnet Peach is explosive in fruit flavor and in a good way. Its like shoving a fresh ripe peach up your nose. Very tasty!! Haven’t tried the banana but I hear its got too strong of a chemical taste to enjoy.

I hate the rum and blackcurrent and for some reason it always reminds me of parmesan cheese, the smell of which reminds me of… With the exception of Gawith Apricot, I’ve not found a fruit flavoured one I like. Nice review Kim,

love the rum and blackberry. Not what I expected it too be. I just liked the level of sweetness and flavour soo much.

Snuffster thanks I’m working on my writing skills. Looking forward to trying Wilsons “Best Dark Snuff” & Wilsons Best SP They will be a birthday gift for someone. But I’m sure I will have a chance to try them. Since I turned him on to snuff and he sits there and tries everything with me. Next Time I’ll try that Magnet Peach Troutstroke. Snuffster I have at less 1 pinch a day of Gawith Apricot.

I’ve been on the Best Dark this evening. A very tasty snuff - coarse, dark and moist with citrus undertones. Basically a dark SP and very tasty too. Hope you like it as well.

I too enjoy the Wilsons Best Dark, but I find it is far to moist o first opening a new tin. I leave it opened for at least an hour before it is usable. A good full bodied snuff, and as ermtony stated. It has citrus in there.

bumping this 3 year old thread … i have read in other threads about folks reacting strongly to rum and blackberry from Wilsons(all love or all hate) … i either have an older, well-aged tin passed along to me from a friend, or my smellin’ is calibrated differently … but this particular snuff gives Toque’s Blueberry a run for the money as favorite berry flavor to me. I read in a different thread where snuffster say it smells like “vomit” … thank goodness i am not picking that up, would induce me to do the same!

Straight, sweet blackberry … can detect very little rum. I really like it … and besides Blueberry, best fruit snuff to me. Toque’s Raspberry comes in third. i am glad this was given to me.

I too got that “bile” scent from Rum and Blackberry. Though, to be fair, it was very old and dried out and probably a poor example of this snuff. A local cigar shop had been keeping it in a large glass jar on the shelf and it was probably a few years old. I suspect it is quite different when fresh but I haven’t gotten around to testing that for myself yet. Too many other snuffs for now but someday I plan to revisit this one.

I loved this one but, like a kid eating to much candy, I’ve taken to much. I must have a tin of it sitting somewhere in a box. Will dig it out and try again.

I’m rather neutral towards this one. It was the first snuff I bought, and I recall being kind of meh about it back then. I basically enjoyed it enough to look for something better. It smelled okay, but like neither rum, nor blackberries to me. Also smells kind of artificial. Not one of WoS’s best, but also not terrible.

I rather like this stuff I find it has a good berry flavour, not an everyday snuff but good for a change of pace

R&B blew my socks off when I first tried it. What was disappointing was how fast the flavor and scent faded after the tin was opened. It’s happened twice to me now.

It’s an odd coincidence that every thread I’ve looked at as a new member here mentions something I already have in my stash. I discovered a three year-old unopened tin of the WoS Rum Blackberry. Maybe I’ll have to open it up and try a pinch. I bought a dozen snuffs, tried a few…then Mrs. Squinty began to object to my use of snuff. Don’t exactly know why, as I never complain about her half pack-a-day cigarette habit…

@Uncle_Squinty… They can be do difficult at times!

I was just using some WoS Sherry and this is right next to it. so many good snuffs .I just revisit it ,very nice. soon to be in a box when available.

I only got a trace of fruit when I tried it a few years back. About 1/10th the fruitiness of a Toque fruit. It’s weird how noses differ! I ended up a disliker myself, gave it away.

WoS Rum and Blackberry is one of my favorite snuffs. When fresh, the aroma is just captivating. One review I read compared it to Chamborg, and I’d that that’s right on target. I use it in rotation with other snuffs. I do have to agree with the above comment by Hooked that the scent dissipates from an opened tin but no more than other snuffs. I’d recommend WoS Rum and Raisin too, a little sweeter than Rum and Blackberry, but very nice too.
