I want to order a plain snuff, preferably in a 10 gram tin. I found Wilsons of Sharrow’s Natural snuff and as I didn’t find useful reviews on the Internet, I thought I’d ask here if anyone has tried it. Other recommendations on plain snuffs available in the previously mentioned amount are also welcome.
I’ve not tried WoS Natural, but assuming it’s an unscented tobacco the SG Crest range are worth a look, you’ll find discussions on them around here.
It is just my opinion, but if you want to try an unscented snuff don’t pick Wilsons of Sharrow, it is like ordering a hamburger from a sea food restaurant, not their forte, WoS does an excellent job of putting every scent under the sun onto a couple of very basic, not super high quality tobacco flour bases and thus will not be a good representation of a ‘natural’ tobacco. If you just want a 10g or smaller tin Touque Natural, Natural Toast and Touque Quit are all very good. If you are willing to go to a slightly larger (15g) tin give Sir Walter Scott’s Lundy Foot, Havana Toast, Thrice Brewed or St. James Parish a spin, all of the SWS are the “craft” versions of natural snuffs and are all of the highest quality that can be obtained. Finally, the unscented Crest series, London Brown/Black Rappee, Irish D Light, Scotch Black, Kendal Brown Plain, or Viking Blond, Brown and Dark all mfg by Samuel Gawith (only the 25g versions as the 10g tap boxes are dried out) are the best natural snuffs that can be had, for a very reasonable price per gram.
I do agree with @Ivan here. WoS Natural is good but far from exceptional in the world of plain snuffs. The Wilson’s toasts are really great though.
@willc you are right of course, WoS Irish High Toast #22 is an exceptional natural tobacco toast.
