I detect something salty about this snuff. I like it by the way, but its the only snuff I have where I detect salt. Is it known for this does anyone know?

I

Many describe WoS Irish Toast #22 as “buttery” or “yeasty” 2 flavors that might also translate to salty or maybe you got a batch with a little extra sodium carbonate?

C

Salt is added to some snuffs so there is likely some in there. The saltiness may be more apparent to you in WoS #22 because there are no additional flavours, just plain toasted tobacco.

in my batch I didn’t detect salt. But I don’t take this snuff any more. It lands immediatly far at the back of my throat when snuffing. But the look is good, very bright colour.

The saltiest of them all is GH Sea Breezes, IMHO. Nº22 is saltier than HDT, indeed. PD: SEA breezes, salt, tobacco… this all together brings a song and album art to my mind! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOj3kJKy-\\_U

If you’re already a F & T HDT fan, you’ll like The Double Deuce and vice-versa. They’re not identical, but…close. I love the mill of the #22. It’s very silky, and after refining my technique, it rarely hits where it’s not supposed to. I’ve only sensed salt in the #22 on the back-drip, and then only if I’ve taken quite a lot of the snuff. (Or have sniffed too hard on one of those rare occasions mentioned above). This one is currently one of my favorites. At my tolerance, the nicotine isn’t overwhelming should I choose this one for all-day. Cheers and a jolly nose-full.

Yes the 22 is a good un and for a toast fairly easy to take. I like it, and have it up my snozzler as we speak!

For that god awful ten minutes I thought I was out of HDT I hit my secret stash of Double Deuce (gotta love that) and all was well while spending my last pfennig on a tin from Sir Dave of Snuff online. Thankfully I found a full 50 somewhere in snuff limbo and proceeded to destroy it spoon by spoon, inch by inch…Niagara Falls (for all you stooge fans).

I think the 22 is very good but I like the No.21 a little better. The No.22 is a High Irish Toast whereas the No.21 is just an Irish Toast. Does anyone know exactly the difference is here? Xander explained it once in a thread but I cannot find that right now.

I’ve got both the 21 and 20 on my to try list. Looking forward to them. So many snuffs so little time.

I’ve always had Wilsons No. 22 on my list, but I’ve never got around to ordering it. I’m just so happy with HDT that it hardly seems worth the trouble of comparing it with something that sounds so similar. I almost clicked on it the other day, but nah. Another 200 grams of HDT it was. Getting more conservative and less adventurous in my old age. I feel the same about Toque Toast. More likely to try a Scotch or an Indian quasi-toast or one of Sir Johnny’s latest toasty creations if I feel the need for something new.
