I’ll start with saying I threw the whole tin of it away. I took a few pinches and it is truly disgusting. It literally smells like something you check the bottom of your shoe for, hoping it isn’t there. There was a banana scent lurking behind all that, but I couldn’t stand it. Also, two of my friends agreed on the smell so it can’t be my nose’s fault. Horrible!
Ouch, that bad ? I could never get myself to throw away a snuff or a pipe tobacco. I have this in my shopping cart. I wonder if it will make the final cut after reading the above.
I very rarely do it, it’s a waste… But I couldn’t see myself storing this one and revisiting it later. If you order it, let me know what you think of it.
If I remember correctly WoS Banana was more like banana bread rather than a ripe banana
@basement_shaman That’s what I heard too and it sounded great.
Bananas are a bitch. I’ve got caramelized bananas in rum getting acquainted. I’ve strained the rum twice, so this is round three…just to get the concentration needed for application to the leaf for Bananas Foster. I can understand the temptation to use the cheaper and easier artificial flavor…a temptation I refuse to indulge. If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right regardless of posterior pain events
I tried WoS Banana in early October 2013. It was pretty good, as I recall, and in my notes it is recorded that I rated it a 4 out of 5 back then. I have thrown snuffs away in the past but this stuff was way too good for that. But if I had the same experience with it that you did, @Jernej I would not have hesitated to pitch it into the trash, just as you did. To me, only the good snuff is worth keeping around. However, like so many snuffs, the batches change and it may well be that a batch change is what has happened with your WoS Banana. For me, the classic batch change was FUBAR Grunt. I had read reviews that said it had a nice, rich coconut flavor but the batch I got stank of old, cheap cigar ashes, and stale cigarette ashes. I rated that a 1 out of 5. Nasty stuff indeed. I threw it out. So I don’t blame you a bit for tossing the tin.
SG Banana is so bad. So very, very bad. Somehow it’s even worse than SG Plum, and that’s saying something. Which is a shame, as I think a well-done banana scent could be a top snuff for me.
Well, I contacted Wilsons of Sharrow as @basement_shaman suggested. They told me it had been discontinued quite a while ago and that they’d ship me a tin of something that is still being made. Great costumer service.
I quite like SG Banana, it’s very much like the banana shaped foam sweets I used to get as a lad.
Well, like I said; I contacted Wilsons of Sharrow and was told I’m getting a tin of something else. I got this in the mail today and was very pleasantly surprised.
