I’m not planning on popping off just yet, in spite of last year’s little problem… Actually my younger daughter has suggested that it might be a good idea to let someone know what to do with the snuff, pipe tobacco, snuff boxes and pipes when that time comes. She seems to want me to make a proper inventory of it all. Hmmm… sounds a bit too time consuming to me. At least she knows that a good home could be found for everything among the members here and on Smokers Forums. Or maybe I should get around to making a will. No good Alex! Most flights into or out of the UK are cancelled at the moment due to the volcanic ash cloud from that eruption in Iceland… I guess I’ll have to work after all. I must say the mill is well worth a visit. I’ve been there once before, picking up snuff of course.

Drat. I must have missed the volcano news. You’d think they could fly a few hundred miles southward to avoid the plume. When sailing, if a low pressure system was hanging around Cape Farewell (Greenland), we’d always change our ship’s course south to stay in calmer seas. An extra day to a ship is not a big deal.
The problem is that the cloud is above the UK and Scandinavia. No way to avoid it In Shetland they say they can even smell the fumes!

The shipping is very inexpensive as well. With shipping included, a 1/2 drum of jasmine is sitting in my cart and the price works out to about $0.06 a gram!! Go for it Xander!!

On volcano ash; In Hawaii the ash in the air is called VOG it is abrasive and used to cause me sinus infections when the winds turned towards. Maybe my math is wrong, but the WEBLAUNCH code isn’t 50% off. My subtotal was 25.98 and the discount was 7.63. I would have thought to take the subtotal and divide by 2, should equal 12.99? the current discount does cover the shipping cost, but it doesn’t appear to be 50%.

Was so happy to see this when I checked in this morning. Placed my order about 9:30 Central time here in the U.S. I noticed on the sharrow mills website it says they close at 2pm on Fridays – which meant my order was at about 3:30pm their local time (BST). I suppose this means I won’t be hearing back from them until Monday - when I’ll be on the road unfortunately. So if it is a phone call, I just hope I’m able to receive it. Either way - nice to be able to order direct from the manufacturer!

Order number 55 and 12 mixed small tins and half a pound of Camphor and Mild on it’s way to me! Also did a bit of bug spotting as I found out as it is there is no clear way to edit your shipping address to a different place than your billing address as the links direct to the same page. I’ve sent them an email but if anybody is having trouble with this in the mean time simply replace the “23” at the end of the URL on the contact edit page to a “24” and it will take you to a page where you can tick boxes to apply your changes.

Well after some usual struggle managed to place an order for half pound drums of Grand Cairo and Irish High Dry Toast- that’s same as F&T HDT, right? About 20€ for a pound of snuff, not bad at all. Dole or state pension here is 200-240€ a week, so even with basic income you can snuff like aristocrats used to. Progress is a good thing.

@Whalen - I´ve had the same trouble until I decided to sign up there first and try again, et voilá it worked. Ordered: SM Blue, Peppermint, Brunswick, Burgundy, Kendal Brown, Cinnamon, Rose. Waiting for IHT#22 and Best SP from snuffstore and already have IDH#20, Tom Buck, Lemon Grove and CoC in drums. Kinda made me realize I love WoS Snuffs quite as much as Toque´s.

It seems that the shipping estimate screen is hung up and will not compute the USA shipping, the checkout will not index without this input. I have tried other countries, and other states with appropriate zip codes. Without the estimated shipping and taxes the checkout will not complete. Been at it all night with multiple browsers and computers. I think the sub routine has crashed.
I’ve got an order set up right now to see if I could duplicate what your describing. I intentionally did not select the shipping estimation. Item in cart checkout selected billing info / shipping address selected delivery option payment is where it’s at right now, 1 step from review and completion One thing that comes to mind, could be completely wet here but mayhaps you should check the address you have in your account. Wrong zip for your state, some little detail like that?

@PhilipS. You have a point. I have just found the sting in the tail. Minimum postage within the U.K is really high at £2.50 ($3.75) so if you buy a 90p ($1.35) small tin, including postage, it costs £3.40 ($5.10)! Having said that, the postage is the same for 10 tins, but its something to bear in mind, especially after the promotion.

Sales like this are awesome for the bussiness involved. One thing it gets people to try their service which equals a lot more money in the long run because someone that trys anything is more likely to do it again. Plus the other thing with sales is that people tend to spend more money when there is a sale then they normaly would. Example if everything is half off someone will usaly buy more then double the amount they normaly would. Also how much does wilsons normaly charge a retailer??? Like how much do you think dave or tom spend per tin??? So my point is I don’t think we’ll have to pay for this sale latter. It’s pretty basic how this will make the company more money in the long run. Damn being totaly broke right now.
Even after the sale is over, it is still much cheaper to order a 1/2lb or 1lb drum directly from the mill.
The normal list prices are affordable for everyone and the freshness factor is unquestionable. Funny how much people want to save of the cheap, do they also haggle at pound shops etc.?
