My first order of snuff, way back in January included a 5g of WOS Kendal Brown. I loved it, so on the last order I got a 25g. This snuff reminds me of F&T Bordeaux, Medium to course grind, dark in color, with the same cloying scent as the F&T. Both quality Snuffs for sure but the Florals aren’t for me. I had to check my account history at Mr Snuff to make sure I had the same snuff. The 5g was medium to fine grind medium brown, with a Naural tobacco and leathery finish. In fact when I later recieved some Toque Natural I thought they were very similiar. Thinking that freshness was the issue I put a few pinches in an old tin and left it open all day, it got very dry but it’s never going to get what I had originally. I’ve notice a few somewhat conflicting reviews on varrious sites and wondering if anyone had similiar experience, is there an old batch and new batch thing going on?
Something doesn’t sound right there. Mislabeld tin? Can you post some pics? WoS Kendal Brown (not a proper Kendal Brown by any definition) is not coarse or dark. However, proper KBs are.
I bought the first Kendal brown 5g without knowing what it was supposed to be like. after buying an SG kendal brown and reading more about it I see that WOS makes the only Kendal that I would like (don’t really care for the course snuffs) but this can could pass for F&T Bordeux in smell and texture. I’ll try to post some pics. Not a big deal, I’ll probably put it up for trade along with the SG, Viking Brown, WOS best Dark and Berwick Brown. This could go with the F&T Bordeux. I wish I knew what I had the first time, but Toque Natural was very similar I’ll stick with that. I’ll be avoiding “Browns” from now on.
I’m not sure what could pass for Bordeaux in smell. Its heavily perfumed. WoS Morlaix maybe? The WoS morlaix is not as heavy as the F&T Morlaix. Wilsons don’t have a lot of coarse dark snuffs so it shouldn’t be hard to figure out if its a mislabeld tin. We should be able to figure out which snuff you fell in love with. Now Wilson’s Kendal Brown is a fine snuff, don’t get me wrong. But it has nothing in common with snuffs of that name actually made in Kendal. I really wish they’d rename it, but then some people would be confused and we’d have 100 threads like this one.
Yea your right @Xander, comparing the two, side by side, their not the same, New order comes in your nose gets a little overloaded. I think the 25g is the right snuff. I’m wondering if the original 5g may have been mislabeled I see wos makes a natural that’s more the type of snuff I remember. It was my first snuff order, first snuff I really liked, Kind of like a first love. I guess I’ll never get it back, maybe I’ll write a country song.

You’ll just have to try all their snuffs til you find which one it was. So that’s their cunning plan, eh…
Yea @HR_pufnsnuff, but just like that first love, sometimes when you finally get it, you realize it wasn’t the Bomb you thought it was. I’m willing to work my way through all of them anyway.
I have a 5g tin of WoS Kendal Brown, its moist, coarse, dark and very floral.
Yea @hdsale that’s what this 25 is like, but the original 5 wasn’t, I no longer have the old can, gave it to a freind with some Sp in it, it was pretty well worn off any way. I even checked my order history at Mr Snuff the 5 was Kendal. On my next order I’m going to get a 5 of Natural, from the description, that’s what I think I had in the original 5. Not a big deal, all part of the education.
Could be that your 5g tin was just old and stale and lost most if not all of its flavouring.
I thought that at first, so I put a couple pinches in an open can left it all day and it got very dry, but that duck didn’t turn into swan it just got real dry.
