Wilsons Irish Toast Menthol

Just opened a tin of this today, so I thought I’d give my thoughts as I’ve not seen a review of this yet. I’m a big fan of both toasts and menthol so I had high hopes for this one and was not disappointed. The base seems to be #22 so is light dry and fine as you would expect, and the initial menthol hit is refreshing and clearing but the classic buttery, leathery, smokiness is still discernable. The menthol, though sharp, only lasts about ten minutes and as it dies back leaves a grassy scent that compliments the classic toast flavours that remain in the nose for a good long time afterwards. In true experimental fashion, I took a good bump before walking the dogs, as I’ve always been of the opinion that the subtleties of natural tobacco scents are easier to pick up outside. Indeed, after 45 minutes the base notes of the toast were still very much in evidence (I had another pinch half way round, it’s very moreish) and remained so for some time. All in all this is certainly a firm favourite and if you’re a fan of either menthols or natural toasts I’d recommend it, though if you’re not used to toasts, apply the necessary caution due to the fine mill of this excellent snuff.

I just finished 5g of this and I regret not buying a larger tin. I agree the base is probably #22 and I like the fact that the menthol is added with some degree of sanity so there is a clearing effect while the excellent toast base is allowed to shine through. I’ll be ordering more of this one for sure.

Sounds good, will have to get some next order.
