I have been here about three days and I haven’t seen a topic on the Aniseed Extra from Wilson of Sharrow, so here is my take on it. This was my first snuff I ever shoved up my snout, and I thought that my nose was either on fire or stricken with frostbite! The first flavor I noticed was the High volume of menthol or eucalyptus (definitely not camphor), it was in the front for about 5 minutes then it gave way to a strong anise or licorice flavor that just would not leave. I’m not complaining though since I have been known to eat whole bags of black licorice in one sitting while sipping on sambuca. The anise flavor stays in the 'ol sniffer long after you clear the nose, and is a favorite when walking the dog because it masks the smell of dog crap that I dispose of. All in all I believe that it is most likely a love or hate snuff just like black licorice. This is my first review/topic and I hope to learn more about this hobby as I spend more time here. Cheers! ~Kyle
the idea of licorice in my nose is revolting.
It can really burn your nose hairs off, don’t you agree?
I do enjoy the licorice effect from the Toque Absinthe. Your take on the WoS Aniseed prompts me to add it to my wish list for next months order. Thanks for the insights watadork.
Does anyone have any insight about how WoS Aniseed Extra compares with WoS Ice Licorice? I have the Ice Licorice and boy does it have a menthol kick - so much so, that I really don’t perceive much licorice flavor.
Aniseed Extra is flavoured with aniseed not liquorice. If you want liquorice, try Snuff Store Liquorice or Poschl Lowenprise. I am not that keen on liquorice in snuff, but the Wilsons Aniseed Extra works brilliantly (it’s my favourite Wilsons menthol).
@istuke. To me it feels more like my nose hairs have been frozen off instead of burned, but that’s just me. Whenever I use this snuff I always end up with a runny nose lol.
Ice Licorice is Licorice and menthol. Aniseed & Eucalyptus is Aniseed & Eucalyptus (no menthol). I get the distinct taste of fennel from it though.
