Mainly, the US large tins. I was planning to order all the US snuffs in large tins this year. Can’t do it now NicoRush has gone.
I had better go easy on mine, $8 a can is a bit out of my range. (No offense to you, Dave, I know some things are out of your hands)
$8 for a large can is a steal! Maybe the best way is to rely on the informal network to obtain these, AKA the trades thread. Not as convienent as online ordering, but we have willing members who can find many of these in their home areas.
That’s for a pocket can!
Yeah, but Oscar is looking for large cans. I stocked up on my favs already. Not sure where I will find Maccoboy in the future, as its not found locally even in small jars. I have enough for a few years though.
Same here, I just like the availability to have it at will.
For me, the US snuffs are incredibly important. I like every 3rd-4th pinch to be a Scotch to keep the vit N up. Ok, there are alternatives, but I find the Scotches much easier to snuff than the high N Indian snuffs for example. Scotches don’t make me cough.
I find myself gazing at all the large cans at my local grocery store, and I noticed that they are all sporting the new mandated warning labels, not just stuck on the old stock, they actually restocked with the new cans. Never the really good ones, no Rooster, but I have so many all ready. Just remember the old adage, snuff will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no snuff!
I live in SW Florida and at the moment i can’t find American Scotches anywhere locally, luckily i bought a bunch before Nicotine Rush closed but i guess overseas might be the only option soon. Sad that a American made product is do damn hard to find in it’s original country.
Depends on where you live. Florida’s demographic is not conducive for dry snuff sales.
Try Jacksonville. I bought my first ever snuffs there in 1993. I know its a long haul for you guys, but its closer than going to another state.
Which national grocery chains carry scotch snuffs? I can remember when I worked at United Supers in the 70’s they carried them but can’t find any here so far. I’m in Missouri by the way. edm
I would go North on a spree hitting every outlet until I found some! That is if I did not have any.
There’s not much north of you but open ocean.
Russia?
Well I would say Alaska, But Jux must know best as, I’m in the UK.
It is so difficult for me to get the US snuffs in. The taxes are very high of course (41.6% then 20% on top of the new total). But the real issue is it varies so much. The first couple of boxes got in for a couple of bucks tax per tin (hence I put them out at $5 and change) I just brought in 14 boxes (ie 168 tins) and Customs took $670 in tax. $4 per tin. With double shipping and labor, there is not a whole lot of room for profit. Mind you, I received an email from a lady who told me she pays $7 a tin at her local store. I wish it were different. Dave
Dave, I think we all understand the constraints under which you operate and fully appreciate the wonderful service you provide. I don’t think it gets much better than Mr Snuff! Taxes are such a bane on life. I’m never quite convinced that we get good value for what we pay in taxes, either.
This is why I wish we still had the old fashioned Whig party, low cost international trade beats taxes and tarriffs everytime. I don’t understand how governments don’t realise that they could actually make more money if they allowied companies to buy and sell on an international basis cheaply, and then tax the comapany rather than taxing the trade. Companies could sell their stock cheaper, but in higher numbers whilst still maintaining or even increasing profit margins because they paid a lot less tax on the purchase. The company itself could then pay much more tax on its income without affecting profit. I may be completely wrong on this, having not studied economics specifically, but this is what I make of it…
