Just today, I noticed that every few pages I load on snuffhouse, I see firefox attempting to connect to facebook. Is this just something in Vanilla forums that isn’t being used? I’ve got facebook (and their several other domain names) all blocked in my hosts file, and I’m not really looking forward to seeing snuffhouse break because of it. Is it some planned feature to be rolled out that I’ll be missing out on, or just another one of our random Vanilla forum quirks?
The particular facebook domain in question is s-static.ak.facebook.com, which apparently I hadn’t yet added, but it’s in /etc/hosts now. From what I gather on google, it’s some sort of interface to a facebook application. As much as I’m interested in using all the features of snuffhouse, I don’t want any of my info going to facebook.
I’ve got no information on that. There is an ability to interface with things like Facebook, but its not activated and I know of no plans or reason to do so. It sounds like a quirk.
@shikitohno you live at snuff house # visits since June 2009. 49,611 how is that humanly possible? That is three times an hour seven days a week for the past 35 months? All your info is here! safe on the world wide web.
@basement_shaman: I definitely get the feeling that visits count is either wrong, or it’s just counting individual page views or something like that. I usually check in to the forums two or three times a day, but thats it.
I’ve never had it happen to me so I didn’t think it was an issue. The FB sign-in has been disabled. If that doesn’t fix it then it must be a Vanilla thing.
