I love the menthols and eucalyptus, but they don’t love me back.
Preaching to the choir there!
I didnt either at first, then after about a year back into heavy snuffing something changed. I love them now. O&G and No.99 are my favs.
I did do a bit of playin around with sizes of pinch today and found if I take a rather small amount I get all the good effects and almost none of the bad. So I’m much more positive now about the menthols. Almost thought I might have to give them up in frustration.
I find them clearing at first and then stuffy after a while, I can’t leave then in as long as non mentholated ones.
It’s rebound congestion and judging from all the posts and comments over the years its a good 50% of people or more that can’t use them. I certainly can’t - a wonderful sensation of clear sinuses followed by a sensation of having concrete up there.
When menthol is added sparingly to a snuff it is excellent - some of the Dholakia ones are quite lightly mentholated and it makes a lot of difference.
After lots of trial and experience I find plain, dry snuffs do a much better job than menthols when I need to clear a stuffy head. I use a toast or a scotch and get much better results.
The whole purpose of medicated snuffs is to open up your sinuses and make it possible to get all of the mucus out of your sinuses next time you blow your nose. If you need to blow your nose after using a medicated, then it is working properly. (That’s my take on medicated snuffs anyway…)
As a previous poster said, you need to experiment in order to get the amount in a pinch that works best for you.
