Evening. Can anyone shed any light on this? Also, any recommendations for coarse, moist Indian snuffs would be much appreciated.

Dholakia Africa Is the only one I can think of. The color is black .The grind is heavy/ course ,The moisture is medium. very similar to taxi green ,with less ammonia, This is slightly mentholated, easy to use with a spoon, not so easy to pinch. I don’t care for the dip like tin so I transferred into dark glass jar. It’s a good representation of an african snuff ,but I am not a big fan of menthol. I like mine plain, If you like a slightly mentholated snuff like taxi green, you will enjoy this one.

Cheers @Basement_Shaman. I’ve heard good things about 6 Photo Kailash, but I take it it’s a fine snuff?

6 P. K. The grind is medium/fine with a high moisture content and slightly medicated to give a cool clear snuffing experience. Black and messy best used with a spoon

Kailash isn’t coarse, but thanks to it being oiled (I think it is, anyway) it’s not that powdery, so insufflates rather like a coarser ground snuff. Its’ lovely, and only very slightly mentholated. And certainly worth a try, it’s a bargain at the price!

6P Chetak moist may match your liking. It´s the coarser and moister 6p I´ve sampled… but is “very indian” (light menthol and remarkable inciensy/perfumy). Very similar in texture to african snuffs, but not in flavour. About high nicotine in indian snuffs, I think it is due to the N. Rustica in the blend and the percent of alkali (lime) used.

@snuffvillian Yeah, I think it definitely has something to do with the PH regulators. I think they also impart them some of their characteristic “freshness”. On topic: Kailash mill might be fine, but I found it difficult to get past the sinuses and is in fact one of the most agreeable snuffs to my nose. However, I presented a friend with a sniff once and he didn’t like it, at all. Strange thing having account of his preference for Hedges, which I find to be finer in grind and much stronger in menthol. I guess it takes training, and every nose is different, but it is a very rewarding snuff: complex base with good quality tobacco notes, delightful perfume and (almost paradoxically on a so heavily perfumed snuff) no cloying at all.
