Any one know who makes cafe royal? The reason I ask is that I have just had a pinch of Old Paris and it seems very similar to me expect CR has a coffee note and OP has a slightly fragrant note. I have never noticed this before and maybe its because my nose has had lots of other snuffs in tonight and im getting mixed up!I believe F&T is now made by Wilson’s? Do they make Smith and Sons snuffs also?
Mopey, read through this article. Smiths
So Sam Gawith Hoggarth makes the Smith and Sons snuffs? Where on earth did you dig up a 1983 NYT article lol? Am I right in saying F&T is now made by Wilson’s though?
Google holds the key! Your right about F&T. WIlson’s also makes the Frederick Tranter snuffs.
I thought Wilson’s made Fribourg & Treyer.
They own the FandT brand and make/distribute it (FandT being an old tobacco shop buisness that closed down in the 80’s) plus make Tranter’s snuff for them
I’ve had customer comments comparing Kendal’s Tia Maria and Samuel Gawith’s Black Coffee to G. Smith & Son’s Cafe Royale in the past. Some even tell me that they mix the two together and make their own coffee blend. I find that G. Smith & Son’s Cafe Royale is a little more ‘smoky’ - it is a lovely snuff! After reading the report clipped by Troutstroker above from the New York Times, I imagine there’s more to this than I first thought…
In my nose, the Samuel Gawith Black Coffee & the Cafe Royal are the most similar if not the same.
first as I was reading this I decided on Toque espresso but reading on I decided no to. I want coffee flavour!!
