Which snuff has the best The pleasure/ pain balance

Just curious to hear what snuff people feel has the best balance between pleasure and burn. I’m relatively new to snuff however Hedges the snuff and wilsons crumbs of comfort both seem to fit the description for me. Steve

HI Steve, when you’ve used snuff a bit longer and tried more types you’ll actually find that those two are pretty mild. For a long time user there really wouldn’t be much burn. The real pleasure/pain types would be US Scotch snuff, High Dried Toasts and some of the Indian snuffs. These are all very fine and dry and with a good dose of nicotine. The real issue with these snuffs is the grind; they are very penetrating and easily taken into the throat or even lungs as it takes quite a while to get the technique right and keep it just in the nose. The greater surface area of a fine mill will also tend to maximise the nicotine hit. Hedges, in comparison to these types, is smooth and easy to use. My list of pleasure/pain snuffs would be Dholakia White FandT/WoS HDT Dholakia Kamal plus a lot of the US snuffs My own technique is to take a small pinch between thumb and forefinger, insert the fingers slightly inside the nostril, inhale very gently. Snuffing is not rocket science and the technique should be easy to master with patience. Enjoy…

Snuff stops hurting after a short time. I really don’t get any burn anymore. Which I don’t mind.

Actually, I often find the burn to be enjoyable, especially with menthol snuffs. Probably due to the fact that I smoked menthols for decades. The pleasure of a familiar sensation.

I have an indian snuff which is fairly tough to take without getting some kind of burn and if you really mess up it can hurt quite a lot, but it gives the most wonderful nicotine hit! Dunno what it’s called.

J&H Wilson’s Top Mill No.1 for me. It never seems to lose it’s pleasant burn for me. Part of the reason is that I can’t get it in large tins, so I use it very sparingly. I doubt that if I could use it as an all day Snuff as I would like that it would cause this, but oh well. It gives my nose a bracing little tug that I enjoy. “No pain, no gain” as they say in the US Military.

Toque Quit fills that bill for me.

Fubar Grunt! Of course.
