Which Crest is Best?

I am curious what the masses, or at least the enlightened ones, believe is the best of the 3 crest’s that Samuel Gawith produces. I can see the similarities with Yellow and Red, but not with the Blue. Can someone educate me a little? My experience with them is as follows: Yellow Crest was my first one of the three and I enjoy it best outdoors. I find it has the scent of corn feed, or otherwise an animal farm. I get a decent bite from it, moderate nicotine and a nice lingering finish. This one stays in the nose well and doesn’t lend itself to blowing. I just got Red & Blue crest from NicotineRush three hours ago and I’m already reviewing. To me, the Red Crest was lackluster. The upfront nose of this one is rather cigarish. I got the same nose when I ground up some of Stitch’s first offering. I didn’t get the big burn :frowning: but after a few minutes the scent gave way to the same as Yellow Crest. Blue Crest is something completely different. I get a new carpet odor lingering in there. It’s got a burn on par w/ SP No1 TM and the scent is fantastic. The base used in this one lingers nicely but I’ve found that I have to blow this one out within about 10 minutes. That’s ok…just making room for more. My Pick as of now: Yellow Blue Red

I’ve not had the other 2, but was disappointed with Blue Crest after a days use. It smelt far too ‘doughy’ to be an all-dayer, which was what I was hoping for.

I wouldn’t burst into tears if they stopped manufacturing any of them to be honest, but if I had to choose one, it would be Blue Crest. This is the easiest to have a “session” with and is the most neutral of the three - plain, light tobacco. The Redcrest is pleasant in small quantities - dark handrolling tobacco. The Yellowcrest is pretty good, but the barnyard aroma I recall is not always something I’m looking for in a snuff. Hang on, I will dig them out. Yes, they are all quite nice, but the Bluecrest is my favourite.

Yellow, Blue, Red is my order of preference too. Be mindful that there are scented and unscented varieties of all three. (Take a look at Greens of Leeds). I’m not sure which mine are, but I think they are all unscented.

I’ve only had the blue crest. It was okay, but I wasn’t overly impressed. That being said it was better than the other SG’s I’ve tried.

Yellow gets top spot for me. It smells farmish to me too, and since I grew up on a farm it takes me back to a simpler time. The texture is light and fluffy which I also enjoy.

Does anybody know if Nicotinerush carries the scented or plain variety of the yellow? The blurb they give seems to indicate the scented but I’m not sure we can go by the blurb since it is from the snusreviews.com Or maybe Tom can give us some insight?

After snuffing blue crest most of the night last night I can now see some similarities with the others. I still like Yellow the best by far and will always have some. Time will tell if the others make it to re-order status. I also notice that these are in white plastic cans. Other SG’s I have are in black plastic cans. Maybe the white ones are the scented variety. I don’t have the ability to discern if they are or not. Learning this, of course, is going to make me want to search for the counterparts which ever the case may be.

I just got some SG Kendal Brown Original and some Kendal Brown Special and they were in white dispensers also. I think they just changed colours.

I think the SG tin colours are random. They certainly are in my collection,

@Wicked: Yes, they are just using two different colors. Snuff is the same regardless. I’ve been doing the RED all afternoon. I’m a fan! Good stuff IMHO! All 3 I carry are plain. Tom

Thanks, Tom! Now I’ve got to ask what the difference is bet/ the scented and non?..until I get to try them, anyhow.
