Today yet again I came accross those people, yes those people who think they know it all. the oh my god your nose is going to fall of and that’s so discusting putting that shit up your nose … Now most people I hear this from are smokers themselfs and I always get a clever answer to give them about an hour after haha which got me thinking what’s your favourite reply to negative snuff use ?? Any story’s ??? I was at gears of war 3 ( xbox game) release last night and after half an hour waiting in the cue I had some snuff and wow the looks haha priceless … Sometimes saying nothing is better and just let then think what they want .,

S

Every one to there own. I never press snuff on to anyone. If they see me snuffing and seem interested, then there are welcome to a pinch. I rarely get funny looks but if I do I just don’t give a s**t.

A

This seems to be strictly a US concern. I snuff where I want, when I want and wouldn’t even notice if people didn’t like it. I am indifferent to some strangers opinion in any case and would deal with an excessive lack of manners in the same way I would with anyone under any circumstances.

T

I just shrug and say “at least I’m not smoking.” usually the first person to say ANYTHING is a SMOKER so…

S

It’s so true. The smokers are the worst.

P

When a smoker tells me he will never put “that crap” up his nose my standard reply is: “I can get rid of “this crap” by blowing my nose, what can you do to get rid of the crap in your lungs”?

J

I have had a couple of people say “that stuff does terrible things to you!” Both of which I’ve corrected, and one of which is a smoker…I explained the relative health risks Vs smoking and he was blown away, really pleasantly surprised and, as he’s been trying to kick the cigs for a while, I’ll keep chipping away and see if I can make a convert of him!

M

You could always offer some too.

T

I usually try to tell them why it is less harmful than smoking and if they say they don’t smoke, I also tell them that they are probably addicted to the other nightshade products and they are doing them more harm than my snuff. Good little snippet below. “WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE NIGHTSHADES? What is it that makes Tobacco, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Peppers, Capsicums and Aubergines so addictive? Why is it that sometimes only chips will do, or we are gagging for a pizza? Solanine, by inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine, stimulates increased activity of the acetylcholine receptors in the brain and this leads to increased flow of adrenaline. This increases the heart rate, blood pressure and leads to increased blood glucose levels. This mild increase in energy level is achieved, along with a reduced nervous sensitivity; producing a combination of calmness and stimulation. This provides short term relief in the face of the stresses and pressures of modern life. In the longer term it puts a strain on the nervous system as the receptors are being overstimulated. If the nightshade foods Tomatoes, Potatoes, Peppers, Capsicums and Aubergines were to be introduced to the Western diet today, under current Novel Foods regulations they would have to be tested for safety. It is unlikely that they would be permitted to enter the food supply, solely because of their solanine and nicotine content. However, like cigarettes, they slipped into our diet despite some voices in opposition and have assumed a major role in our “nutrition and health”, a role that, in a free society, should be accepted. However, moderation in all things is a worthy principle and it could be argued that, in our diet we have perhaps gone too far down the road of nightshade acceptance.”

P

Good point on the plants of the nightshade family, Roderick. Reminds me of a very old saying that isn’t commonly remembered (although toxicologists know it well): “It’s the dose that makes the poison.” BTW, nicotine is quickly metabolized into completely non-toxic biochemicals, as long as one is ingesting sufficient amounts of B-complex vitamins.

J

Now that’s a reply @toque thanks !

M

When I smoked cigars and pipes in public, it was much the same. Cigarette smokers want to be alone with their sticks. Remembering the days when they allowed cigarette smoking, but not pipes nor cigars.

H

Doesn’t even warrant a response!

K

To smokers: It’s the tenth of the price, the hundredth of harmfulness, and a thousand times more fun!

G

@KebAMP +1 -costs less -hurts you less -hurts others less -smells better -wider nic range (if you want it) and, the clincher: -I can do it IN THE SHOWER!!!, can you?

B

I like so where did you find that out? Is it something you just like repeating without any facts. Must suck to go through live blind and ignorant, suicide is highly recommended. Of course I’am exagerating but it is what I think.

J

Lmao @bob love it

T

My reply: mind your own business.

B

@tybalt +1

B

Reminds me of Begbie in Trainspotting berating his heroin addict friends whilst necking pints and whisky with gusto.

B

@brigstowe there are a few snuffers in Winterbourne if you look for us.

B

@bish777 Righto! I live in town, and have spotted the odd snuffer about the place

B

I’m in liverpool these days but am down once a month. lived in filton and winterbourne mostly but have lived in town, close to birds of baldwin street!

B

Bird’s is awesome. The guy was openly smoking a fag indoors last time I went in

S

Yeah, it’s a great little shop. I’ve been in a couple of times where customers were smoking their pipes and chatting to the guy behind the counter about something… I’ve also had a few in depth conversations about pipe tobacco with one of the guys who works there.
