Since I like moist snuffs so much I thought I’d just ask and see if anyone has any good suggestions. So far I’ve tried and loved these: Klostermischung, Brasil Fresco, Best Dark, S.M. 500, Queens Extra Strong, Dynamite (The last two are by far my favourites!)
Yes I prefer the moist snuffs also. K.B. Original, WoS Princes. Old Paris (if I could get it) Trying the Samuel Gawith line now and would like opinions: Black Rapee or London Brown for next order?
Abraxas Premium Batch and SWS Auld Alliance for me =P~
Haven’t tried Black Rapee or London Brown - Gonna order some right now
Abraxas - PBS Coarse, Cerise; SWS - Auld Alliance, Creme de Figue, Mull of Oa; SG Grousemoor; Fubar Shot of Rum - fairly moist.
I haven’t tried any Abraxas snuff… might have to give them ago
Both Abraxas and SWS produce outstanding snuffs - you owe it to your nose to try them.
Should have included the Abraxas and SWS. Sorry bout that. Let me know about the LB and BR snuffs
I can’t wait for them to arrive… Snuff usually takes 20 days to get to New Zealand, then there is a three day wait for customs to go through the lot! Anyway that gives me time to finish off what I have here and see if I can make a snuff as good as my grandfathers snuff.
Viking Brown, definitely. I feel like I’m in burning village somewhere in Norway while taking a pinch. And I’m running. But wet, dirty and big Viking man with an axe in his hand and decapitated head in his other hand is right after me. And I’m running faster. Running. Faster. And suddenly I realise there is no escape. So I must take another pinch.
@Viertel - Wow that is inspiring… I’ve already got viking brown… now I feel like some so bad. Also from memory the Viking that usually chases me is Big, hairy, very hairy and he wants a hug
SG Black Rapee, Mull of Oa, and Kloster by Bernard; though I think this thread has piqued my interest in re-trying Vikings Dark & Brown.
Copenhagen
Personally, I enjoy nice dry snuff. But I do get a craving for Kodiak, Grizzly and Copenhagen from time to time.

When I visited Samuel Gawith in Kendal, Bob Gregory told me Black Rappee and London Brown are exactly the same snuff. London Brown was what it was called when they made it for another snuff seller (Smith’s perhaps?), and they just kept the name on. It’s unbelievably moist, dark and delicious if you can get it into your nose. Bob laughed when I told him that when I opened my tin I wasn’t sure whether I should snuff it or plant my tomato seedlings in it.
@HR_pufnsnuff Thanks. Guess I will find out as next order will have one tin of each. Just fine as it should be acceptable to my nose according to the reviews. Grind OK also as my nostrils accept the SWS and Abraxas snuffs quite well.
I’m becoming quite fond of London Brown. It took a little getting used to, but once you get the technique it’s very pleasant. One of the few I have to blow after though. It’s like it melts in your nose, lol.
I have BR and LB side by side. They are not the same. LB is brown, with flecks of slightly different colored tobacco, while BR is all uniformly black, or almost so. LB also has some light, very light scent, whereas BR is only tobacco flavor. I think the person at SG wasn’t being 100% truthful when stating they are the same snuff. But I like them both very much at any rate, and when levels get low, I sometimes mix them. I also do the same with Cob Dark and Princes dark, mix together. They combine to make a very good snuff. I only wish I had a giant tub of each instead of the 20gm tins which I must make last a long time due to economic circumstances.
SWS Auld Alliance
SG Black Coffee and Viking Dark are my go to moists, need to bulk up on these.
Haven’t had much experience with moist snuffs, what would anyone recommend? I usually prefer mentholated but like fruity ones sometimes and do regularly use Tom Buck.

We could be long lost brothers.
SWS Auld Alliance, Viking Dark
Thrice Brewed
SG Black Coffee, but at the moment ol’ Walt’s Roslein is running it a close second (until it’s all too soon all gone).
Noisette has become my favorite, followed by my Toque bespoke almond.
Currently SG Elmo’s Reserve. The tonquin scent lasts a long time.
