Sprangalang, Schmalzer is a typical German snuff. The tobacco which is used to prepare it are the Brasilian mangotes, tobacco fermented with rum and than spun into strings. Mixed with other types of tobacco and fermented again. Some lime is added and formerly mixed with Schmalzer (lard). Nowadays other types of fat (oil) is added. Jaap Bes.
