I got myself a Sharrow snuff heartwood box with some pipe tobacco a couple weeks ago and have had a few different mixes in it. The best was somewhere around 1/10 WoS honey Menthol with 9/10 De Kralingse Macuba. Right now it’s 1/5 Gotard Latakia with 4/5 SG Celtic Talisman. Can’t wait to get my new snuffboxes.

O

Right now, I’ve got about 60/40 F&T Seville and Toque Camphor and Clove in a Rosewood.

S

About 50/30/20 WoS Grand Cairo, Toque SP Extra, FUBAR Grunt Or, substitute the Grand Cairo for some Tom Buck. Yum.

O

wow, sounds like everyone’s mixing. I’m just doing plain old Three Thistle.

H

My snuffbox is reserved exclusively for 6 Photo Natural, and when I get more, this particular snuffbox will still be reserved exclusively for 6 Photo Natural.

S

i have 9 Triple Techs i used to have filled with various favorite snuffs … but realized i couldn’t get through them all quickly. So now I rotate them … two at a time … current two are Whiskey & Honey and Toast & Marmalade.

B

Tom Buck. today.

T

Some mixes occur so randomly that I don’t think they’ll actually work but the Celtic Latakia is pretty good. Makes a new favorite even more interesting.

X

lil turn tin 50/50 grunt and fubar

A

My everyday blend: Toque vanilla, raspberry, plain toast, WoS sherry and Irish toast, equal parts.

X

@pieterclaassen came up with an awesome blend, if you’ve got the ingredents, half and half toque peach and WoS HoneyMenthol. Its about the only blend i consider a keeper for the cookbooks. Tweakng the ratio is ok though.

M

One box has a 7:3 ratio of G&H Dry Orange & G&H Cinnamon. Another has a 8:2 ratio of WoS Strasbourg & WoS Cinnamon; this is my Cotswold replacement as I’m convinced I detected more cinnamon in it than in plain Strasbourg, and it works well.

W

Toque Spanish Gem in a 3 tech.

Jockey Club in a wooden box, SP No.1/Grand Cairo mix in a small Mr Snuff plastic box, Dean Swift Specific/WoS Plain mix in a bakelite box and a few spoonsful from my ‘chuck the leftovers in here’ pot in a large Mr Snuff plastic box.

T

@Xander I was thinking of mixing peach Melba and honey menthol. I don’t have toque peach but I’ll make do with that next time I’m in a mixing mood.

X

@TomStrasbourg I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the Peach Melba. More like Melba than Peach.

T

Yeah it’s a good snuff to have for my eclectic tastes and I knew it wouldn’t be a pure fruit snuff. It’s certainly not a classic among the ranks of Tom Buck or anything, but I like the balance of peach and Melba, which I’m guessing is some sort of cream vanila thing.

X

Yeah its a dessert with vanilla ice cream: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peach\\_Melba

B

5:1 parts Klostermischung to O&G… It’s a wierd combo I Know, but I think it actually enhances the flavor of the schmalzer, while adding a little of the menthol but definitely not overpowering any flavor.

W

Triple tech with equal parts Doppelaroma and Virginie

J

In my small black wood flip top I have Viking Dark and Black Rappee, mixed and sieved .

T

I’ve got an order from mrsnuff on the way with 4 more snuffboxes in addition to some other new things. It’s good to have a thread with so many ideas.

Six Photo Kailash that came in a little paper baggie I got as a gift on my last Mr Snuff order. Thanks, Mr Snuff!

T

About 60/40 GC and toque vanilla in my snuffhouse box, the remnants of Celtic Latakia in my Sharrow snuff box, and 3:1 WoS Peach Melba and honey menthol in my new heartwood padauk box.

D

@tomstasbourg what do you think of that mix? That sounds close to how I mix it tho I just tap out a bunch of each then use a spoon to add one or the other to get it how I like it. I really should measure things out so I know my mixes

D

I just made a mix of QSnuff Sandalwood and Toque Apricot. Somehow they work incredibly well together. I also like to mix Quit with just about any schmalzer to get that stuff a little drier.

T

@distaind just tried it and am quite impressed. It actually is quite like a creamsicle and the scent has lingered nicely too. Vanilla is just a great complement to tobacco in general but it makes a great snuff more interesting too apparently. I got a fair amount of new snuffs with my recent order but I’ve only tried one. The snuff boxes and the mixes I’m making in them have taken priority.

@basement_shaman one of my favorites right there! First SG I fell in love with.

B

@TomStrasbourg I just can’t get enough but with most snuff I own I get board quickly. This richt kind is an enigma with the light menthol and the cornucopia of scents. And after the menthol fades your left with a fruity salad that just lingers the right amount of time.

Fourth day in row SG KB Original. When I thinking about cleaning a smashbox for a change to another snuff, the thought come to mind: “it’s strong, tasty, awesome grind - practical!”. Will top up some more and get a bulk.

I used to mix the very light and dry GH snuffs with GH Kendal brown so I could sniff it without getting it in my throat. I dont need to do that anymore and so I havn’t mixed in a long time. However just a couple days ago I opened up my turn tin which had some GH Western Glory, Instead of dumping it out I just threw some Dragun on it, probably 2/5 Western Glory and 3/5 Dragun. Needless to say, it was fantastic.

J

It has a pleasant dry nutty herbal fragrance with none of the fishy scent.

My Tirple Tec contains WoS Orange Chocolate, my red Mr. Snuff plastic box contains 6 photo Motia, my glass bullet contains Ice Lemon (non-tobacco) and my little round stainless steel box contains leftovers of a mix I made: 30% Crumbs o’ Comfort, 30% Wilsons Prime Minister, 20% MC Mild Lemon, 10% Red Bull and 10% Ice Lemon; the tobaccos (all four years old) were freshened by 48 hours’ storage in an airtight container with a lot of lemon peel and fresh mint. This stuff is so good, I might patent it. LOL

G

@Uncle_Squinty

my glass bullet contains Ice Lemon

Is it tastes so good or some nose cleaner scent?

B

Home made Starbucks Vanilla coffee & Pepsi cola flavored light toast

U

@ Geok - Not a nose cleaner. It’s a non-tobacc energy snuff that’s delicious, if used sparingly. I just filled a twist box with Poschl Konigsprise. Vicks Vape-O-Schnott. Once the noz is a bit clearer, I’ll probably enjoy a snuff of 6p Motia…exotic and delicious. That’s in my red Mr. Snuff box.

T

@Uncle_Squinty how do you like the WoS chocolate orange? It was one of my favorites but now I find it only hits the spot at certain times, usually evenings.

J

The snuff box is made with a lemon peel half turned inside out with a fig, Meyers rum, brown sugar, honey, butter, vanilla bean, cinnamon, nutmeg reduction poured in topped with generous amounts of Bruton Scotch Snuff. I ate the figs with Ice cream and pound cake for desert.

J

WoS Jockey Club in wooden flip-top (as always), Staubinger Echt Fresko in a Mr Snuff metal turn-tin, and a mixture of about 3:1 WoS Plain and Six-Photo Special in a little Bakelite box.

N

@Juxtaposer how well did the lemon peel box turn out, does it scent the snuff much and how fast does it scent the snuff? I’ve been meaning to make some lemon peel and tangerine peel boxes for a while now

J

@n9inchnails Well I just turned a half inside out for a bowl to put the syrup in for mixing. It’s not exactly correct due to the end alignment but it’s drying nicely. I took the snuff out after mixing to run it through a sieve and it’s now in a jar with some vanilla beans. It is difficult for me to see using a peel for a pocket box as making a tight sealing lid seems to be a challenge. Ultimately I would like to have a lemon peel lined tin for that purpose. The scenting is immediately there though I did use a fresh peel as a mixing bowl. As for a finished box I can’t say how much influence it would have on a snuff. A simple craft item for a snuffer to do. Go for it, make a few, learn as you go, have some fun and good luck.

I can carry 10 for half the price of one antique. I still collect them just another one of my addictions.

T

@LadySnuff I love your idea of using a tin to organize bullets. I’m carrying around 3 bullets as well as 2 boxes, and I keep forgetting which pocket I keep which bullet in, or if I put a bullet in my purse or not. I’m going to use an altoid tin from now now on to organize my bullets. Oh, back to the subject…what’s in my boxes today? If we’re talking only boxes, I have Quit w/Snuff Irish coffee (mixed with a bit of Gletscher Prise) in one box, and WoS Lavender in the other.

@linguist Can you share some recipes?

I bought 50 gr of Celikhan raw tobacco. Celikhan tobacco was used for snuffmaking by turkish government company until 1980’s. Then the production stopped. This tobacco is very expensive $50 for 1 kg. It is moist and ready to smoke. I dried 50gr tobacco in microvawe for 20 minutes at the lowest heat. I ground it very fine like toque snuffs. For HDT i cook it untill some smoke appears. For scenting and maturing i use sodium carbonate and table salt 1/1 ratio (very small amounts) mix it with 2ml water. Add essential oils mixtures as you want. For plain snuff no oils. For scented 1-2 drops(it is like toque) For parfumed 6-7 drops (F&T like) and for exterem parfumed add 13-16 drops ( indian snuff like) if you want oil based use haff amount of paraffin instead of water. Mix them all with tea spoon. It doesn’t become like mud don’t afraid. It tastes salty but if you wait 24hrs at least salt disappears slowly.

L

here is some of my 450gr stock. Top the plain snuff stock. I use it as a base for my scented snuffs. Left 2 my HDT’s and other dark snuffs are single scented snuffs 6-7gr each. I can make infinite numbers of mixed scented snuffs.

J

Very nice! What are some of your favorite scent combinations? I make my own too but I have yet to use essential oils. My toasts are made with 100% stems that have been toasted whole then ground and sieved. Very fluffy!

T

Best Dark in my orange snuffhouse box. That box is perfect for pinching out of!

My favorites change all the time i am not stable. I sieve all the tobacco and always some particules left at the end after sieved 5-6 times. Then i toast them and sieve again. Result is the finest ground ever not fluffy.
