I go to medwakh.com they’ve got a lot of dokha and usually some of the kizami (which is cut hair thin, almost hard to believe-at least the koiki brand which I have). I’d suggest taking a long enough time to search through the product descriptions, and to try a lot of different samples so you can find a bunch of favorites as well as what you don’t care for. If you include some of the flavored ones there are a LOT of different tastes there.

I got a toast line up SG IDL ,GH ID,WoS #22#23,fubar snafu,Fubar medic, templation purple & grape.gotard rum. and a black rococco box. the SG was open before it left the warehouse red tape on tin. and the Irish D dusted the entire shipment.Oh and some viking blond just had to give her a go.

@supervape it has so much menthol in it. It will contaminate all the other snuffs with the scent of menthol. Especially tap boxes.

@joesnuffer so my entire order might be ruined? or after you open it and store them together they will smell of menthol?

@supervape It happens sometimes. I learned the hard way to order mentholated snuffs separately, but really it just depends on the packaging. If the containers are super air tight then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the UK Royal Mail who simply dumped the package on my doorstep. They didn’t even bother to ring the doorbell - just knocking once on the front door. Luckily I heard that and got to the door within a few seconds but the postman had already disappeared, Had I not been working from home I would be very surprised if the package had still been there when I returned. It is not surprising that people use couriers rather than the postal service. Anyway many thanks to MrSnuff and I will probably bore you all over the next days as I sample the order.

I’ve tried all but the chocolate and the #21… The raspberries were ok… Still think I prefer the Ozona… The F&T was ok. Kind of tasted like the dust or ash from and old hunting lodge, mild flavor. The #22 is awesome! Excellent rich flavor, very smokey! Lastly, Grand Cairo. Wow! This is some amazing stuff! I do miss my tap boxes… How do you guys manage these tins without making a huge mess? I just dug out a very dry hank of Cotton Bowl, think I’ll turn it into snuff and scent it with tangerine oil (maybe).

How exactly do you go about scenting it, @mouse ?

I must be tired, I read your question as ‘screening’ rather than ‘scenting’ and wrote this: I start with a coffee grinder, then into a tea strainer, then a fine nylon mesh cloth, bigger bits go into a mortar and pestle, repeat as necessary. @basement_shaman That bottle is post 1966. The name Conwood appearing (with their logo) and the font of the Net weight are the tells. Here is one I have that I date at about 1965, since it has no Conwood logo and some other info written in red type across the label. Also the blue tape across the top reads “Federal stamps no longer required”. Not sure about this, but I think 1959 was the last year for stamps. @Troutstroker is the go to guy on that). Also they corrected the weight, since the old bottles claim to be 5 ounces and the newer ones 4.65, although they are the same size bottles as far as I can tell.

I have a 5.58 oz. that is a bigger bottle than my 4.65 oz. bottles. All are marked Conwood.

I’d try to just get the Sam Gawith’s and the Gawith Hoggarth’s in the 25g containers. With the tap boxes you’ll have lost so much of the flavor and moisture that it can be hard to even get a decent impression of them. Most of the ones that I’ve gotten in the tap boxes I’ve ended up trying to give away. The German ones aren’t so much of an issue… A lot of people here would tell you this…

From 1932 to 1955 the tobacco plant series stamps were used. Starting at #102 & ending @ #125 in 1955. So makes it easy to date a tobacco plant stamp. Each year it goes up by 1 number. Starting in 1956, the tobacco businesses had a choice of either paying the tax directly to irs with their daily shipping figures or continue using stamps. Only the smaller companies continued using the stamps. The government quite providing stamps in 1959.

I built an ark. So far, a canvas shopping bag hung up, a plastic shoe box, a metal ciggie carton box and a little organizer drawer- in other words where there’s a will (or a lot of snuff) there’s a way. Necessity is the mother of invention- and it takes up less space than my pipe tobacco collection…but nothing fancy, maybe I should build a nice mahogany snuff-chest with a nice inlay and classy brass handles (and I’m not being sarcastic or silly)…

@howdydave, why are you learning ASL? Just curious. ASL is a wonderful thing. There is something intriguing about visual language, ASL reminds me of ancient Chinese characters and fires up the visual centers in my brain in a way that printed words can’t. However, I only know one word in ASL: “whatever”, lol. It’s come in handy a couple of times.

A book and a DVD (ASL sign language lessons) are sitting in the office, currently inaccessable to me… The mailman delivered them on Saturday but, due to security policy at my apartment building, I can’t get them until the office is open on Monday morning! GRRR… Isn’t inhibiting the delivery of the mail a felony?

@Mouse – I learned SEE (Signed Exact English) about 20 or 25 years ago when I worked at NTID (National Technical Institute for the Deaf.) The vocabulary is the same, but the grammer is different. The Abbot at the monastery wants me to become an ASL Interpreter for the monastery. I don’t think that he has a clue about how much work is involved in that task… We’re talking about taking ASL 1 - ASL 7, plus Interpreter courses, plus transliteration courses, plus ASL linguisitcs! I’m gonna’ see how they want to proceed when I visit the monastery again for Christmas.

At least I already have my BS so I won’t have to go for a degree!

A ripoff notice from Canada Post claiming I owe $55.69 duty. I am 99% sure this is for a snuff order I have been waiting for a couple of weeks. If so, the total value of snuff is approximately $31. I had some smash boxes and a snuff box in the order that may put the duty owed to near that amount but as far as I know there is no duty on those items. I have to stew over this all weekend because the post office isn’t open until Monday X( Have any Canadians here disputed their duty assessment before? If so, please let me know how the process went for you. I’ll be surprised if there is any point in even trying.

@n9inchnails they have a very large jar of it where you can buy as much or little as you like loose. I am assuming they just opened a few tins and put them in there so you could try before you buy a full 50g tin but I am not sure. I would have bought a tin but I needed a bit to tide me over until next week when I know Santa will visit and replenish the stocks.

@puffpuff - I’m using mine right now, great snuff boxes and as far as I can research it one of only two genuine silver snuffs still made, excluding any pill-boxes that are made well enough to hold snuff. They usually leak a bit, easily solved by wrapping in a flannel or such like and applying a bit of squeezing pressure; mines now completely leak free.

I just received a Mister Snuff order! I’ve got: Abraxas Connisseur Cerise 15 gram Regensburger Pris Zwiefacher Aert Althayerischer Schmalzler And a Wilson of Sharrows small tin gift pack containing Jockey Club, Menthol, Aniseed Extra, Country Mint, Gold Label, and Lemon Grove. I can’t wait to dive in to this pile and try them out, but I was hoping for an HDT in the assorted pack like the one on the photo on the website. Still, these are all going to be great.

@Maneikis You can try Wilson’s Super Menthol as a temporary substitute for O&G. I think of their menthol range of snuffs that one comes closest.

A Cold Steel slim stick - what a weapon; the best of the tactical canes that are starting to come out from various makers. Light as a feather with a solid aluminium ball on the end, and it’s beautiful to look at. Next present I’m giving myself is the Cold Steel viking sword >:)

@Abraxas - That looks like a very useful asset - I am sure that it is not a weapon :)) - and presumably completely legal to carry on the streets in the UK. I have just found the Cold Steel UK website and may well order myself one of those.

@Chris - completely legal as it is simply a cane, but in real, justified and, most importantly, proveable need there would be no issue with using it in self defence and the law allows for that, providing it was not carried for that reason - in which case it would be classed as an ‘intended offensive weapon’. UK law is very strict about weapons and it is the intent that is the key thing when carrying ordinary objects. I have arthritis in my spine from multiple injuries when I was a cop so for me it is an essential item. That aside, I really recommend the slim stick - it is incredibly light and strong and very good looking. I’ve also got one of their faux Irish blackthorn sticks and whilst that is pretty heavy it is a very good product.

Needless to say I would never carry anything with the intention of using it as a weapon but many items do have “secondary” uses. Funnily enough the day before your posting about the slim stick I was having lunch at a pub in the countryside where they were selling a range of locally produced wooden sticks. I was tempted to purchase one but it occurred to me that - while I would have no problem with it in the countryside - the police in Central London might find it rather suspicious. In older days, when many people carried a cane / stick, there would have been no problem but these days one rarely sees this unless the person has medical grounds for carrying one - which I don’t. I will have to think carefully about this.

@chris I can assure you it is entirely lawful to carry a walking stick, whether you are disabled or not, nor can it ever be the grounds to be stopped, searched or questioned unless you are doing something stupid with it. It can only ever be an issue if you use it to harm someone with - and that is a different matter entirely and when the law has to be satisfied you acted with reasonable force - but you can not get into trouble for carrying an innocent, lawful item and you do not need a reason or excuse to do so, no more than to carry an umbrella. Whether sticks are in fashion or not has nothing to do with it. If you are worried there is lots of info online including the CPS website, but after 20 odd years in the police in London I can say that walking sticks are perfectly legal and lawful and you don’t need to have a medical need for one - thank God, there are enough restrictions in this nanny state as it is; if walking sticks ever made it to the list of offensive weapons I would emigrate to a desert island.

I almost got General Los, but decided it would be too much trouble for now. Also wanted to try Ettan, but I’ll save that for another time. It kinda sucks that snus is so expensive relative to snuff (especially shipping), but it is what it is. Hopefully one day General and others expand further into the US market.

The latikia is there but mild. Not a heavy presence at all. I’ve smoked about three bowls and I like it but it is not as strong in the nicotine department as they seem to think it is. I’m undecided about how this will figure into my future purchase plans. But once I get through this pound I’ll know!

Take inventory of reorderable and after a week, if I had not found I need anything else. place order . Then the very next day there is something new to try or at lease it seems like that’s the case so start the process over

Received my first pipe! Nothing flashy or fantastic, but it works as I’ve ran 3 bowls through it now! To test it I purchased three different flavors of pipe tobacco from a local tobacconist. Two were local blends; one was an aromatic named Pure Comfort (tasted like a black and mild cigar) and the other, named 14-karat, tasted like a more complex version of Prince Albert. Lastly, I bought an ounce of HH Vintage Syrian (which I really enjoyed although it was borderline too strong).

Mostly I get licorice or anise from Coltsfoot Snuff. The coltsfoot herb that I have used in non-tobacco smoking mixtures doesn’t have much in the way of aroma, it is recommended by herbalists, primarily, for breathing issues like asthma.

6 months!? wow. I think I’d go crazy.

i have been patiently waiting for about 20 days, i know customs can take their sweet time, ill survive … but its certainly not 6 months , id be pulling my hair out, and cursing the snuff gods !

An ode to patience… Placed order and they were out of one item which was in in a couple weeks. product shipped and apparently arrived here in Kalispell, MT safe and sound, but nobody at the post office bothered to notify me. As I did not pick it up (since I did not know it was here) they sent it back. I contacted Mr. Snuff wondering what was going on and received the above info. So they finally repackaged and sent again. This time Royal Mail messed up somehow and it was once again returned. So I eventually contacted again to say, ‘hey, where are the goods?’ was informed of second snafu. Well, for whatever reason, when the goods were returned both times the stock was returned to the shelf (I suppose) because both times I had to wait a week or two for an item to be back in stock. Finally, was hoping to be shipped and suddenly out of stock again on two items. I just said to send replacements. So, as indicated, just 4 days shy of 5 months I have the goods and am glad. Am I mad at Mr. Snuff? No not really though there are some true efficiency challenges. But I am frustrated with both USPS and Royal Mail for their gross inefficiency. Andrea has been great to work with and has been most kind when I have expressed my frustration. A true professional. So, I have just learned that patience is a virtue… and that Mr. Snuff will come through in the end!!!

Yay, my first order came in at long last! I got 10 toques straight from their website: rose, almond toast, raspberry, whiskey and honey, rose, chocolate, spanish gem, quit, ginger, and peach. I still have a Mr. Snuff order on it’s way, I placed two just in case one got delayed. A side note: I think the chocolate I got is something else? I’m not sure what it is, maybe camphor and clove just based on the cooling feeling it gave me, but definitely not chocolate. It’s a snuff mystery! Edit: Okay, it is definitely chocolate. Now that I’m used to the smell of the toque base tobacco it’s very easy to see, funny how different it smells now that I’ve become accustomed to it.

The trick is to fill up a 25g tin from the 250g bulk and fill your snuff box from the tin. Minimises the frequency of opening the big tub.

1lb St. James Flake 50g tin of Sam’s Flake $6 “No Name” estate pipe- very happy with it. Its a huge chunk of briar with some nice grain. Oh, and free pipe cleaners. I can’t rave enough about surprise “freebees”. Anything at all(in this case $.59 pipe cleaners) is such a monumental joy. Only thing i could complain about to Mr.Snuff, its much more fun as a complete surprise.

We had photo radar here for awhile in the 90’s. Every time I hear it mentioned I am reminded of a story I heard back then. Some fellow was caught by photo radar and received a speeding fine in the mail along with a picture of his vehicle at the location and the date/time of the infraction. He then laid out the amount of the fine in cash, set it out on a table and took a picture of the cash which he mailed in as payment for the fine. Maybe you should give that a shot. Let us know how it works for you!

@TobaccyLassy sucks doesn’t it! I have the option of paying the fine and taking the points or going on a speed awareness course, costs the same as the fine but no points. Waste a day being told you are scum for driving too fast or a hike in insurance premium, hmmmmm, I can always switch off on the “course” lol

Those damn cameras are just another way to get tax dollars for the broke Gooberment. I’m not sure, but there is a fine legal line about the fact that the information is cataloged by a computer and not a human. I’m not a lawyer, maybe someone else knows.

90% of the fine goes to the security company that installed the cameras, at least here, probably the same deal elsewhere.

Hey, I was just going with the flow. The guy in front of me was going the same speed for a good 20-30 minutes. I didn’t have time to hang out in court either, especially a court that was a 6 hour drive from home (going the speed limit), so I ignored the ticket for a full year. Eventually I HAD to pay it. Surprisingly it was only $200. The actual ticket was only written as 90 in a 65. Actually now that I think about it, it might have been in a 55. Eh, whatever. I try to keep it under 100 these days.

Got 30 of 25 gram tins from TOQUE today on my front door step … Immediately took one toast and marmalade ( which I been out of) and a peach and also a apricot ( all 3 great wake up … Early morning snuffs ( breakfast of snuffions ) Major kudos to Roderick ( I overlooked the 6 for 5 deal ) but his company threw in the 5 anyway on the 25 tin order … Totaling 30 tins…HERE IS a pic of 27 remaining ( put in storage ) categorized by similar flavors ( all close flavors together… All toasts together, plains or naturals together, etc) I tighten each can real well, than put them in the 4 old English black plastic top candy store jars, tighten top of glass jars ( jars are as tall as a 2 liter bottle of coke) those 4 go in that wicker basket, cover it up with a black cloth and into a dark closet… Waiting upon 2 mrsnuff orders… More yummy snuff…

100g of Spanish Gem and 25g of Grapefruit (both direct from Toque). Bought the grapefruit on a bit of a whim, but initial impression is it’s very good. Reminds me of St Clements, a little finer and drier than some of the other Toques in my collection. Scent is very pleasant

@Abraxas, I’ve been looking at those as well. For any of the taller guys I asked them about making them in longer lengths. (I inquired about 38"-40") They replied they could not due to the strength ratios (or something like that) but the could make it 37". Just have to add a comment on the order form. For me 37" is better than 36" so I will probably order one Abraxas did you get the BlackSwift or the Raven?

Interesting indeed. The only swift black sticks named after birds around here are called Super Blackhawks. They also come in stainless. B-)

@Slide - I got the Blackswift; I’m only 5’9 and whilst it suits me perfectly (actually the only cane I’ve ever found that is 100% right for my height) it would be too short for a taller person. I was quite surprised as nothing ever comes in the right size for us vertically challenged types. You might find the Cold Steel sticks better for you: I have the slim stick which is a fair bit longer. It’s a touch heavier but still very light compared to the usual ‘tactical’ canes - the CS faux blackthorn is more like a trench club.

@Hamlet - the stick is the closest you can get to one of those in the UK. Or a Buckmark: on balance I would rather put my faith in a club and save myself the hassle :))
