This thread is obviously about what video games you guys are playing, doesn’t matter if it’s PS3, Xbox, PC, previous consoles, or a arcade machine. I have just finished the Witcher 2 on xbox. I like the idea of having the liberty to choose whose side should I help, and the story really is effected by my decisions in the game. I am only about 1/3 done with the first Mass Effect. In fact that was the reason why I purchased the xbox earlier this year, I was so impressed by Mass Effect 2 and 3 (not so much by the last game, I am sure many of you know why) that I feel it should experience the whole Mass Effect trilogy and see how my femshep’s story began~ On the PS3 front, I am playing through Dragon’s Dogma in a snail pace. The game play is excellent and fun, but the lack of a interesting story is dampening my reason to progress in the game. There’s Dragon Age Origins too. The story is excellent, but the game play really isn’t designed for console use. If only it could be more like Dragon’s Dogma in that respect…and I found myself spending more time sorting through the inventory than playing itself… Skyrim…I picked up and promptly put it down. Why is it that when I am fighting an enemy, I feel like slicing through thin air? Something about games made by Bethesda that never appealed to me. Done playing with Dark Souls not so long ago. This game should be categorized as a survival horror… Replaying Red Dead Redemption since yesterday. I finished the game two years ago, but since then I had forgotten about most of the plot, it feels like a totally new game to me now~ And I never download Undead Nightmare anyway, I will get to it once I am through with the main plot~ So this is how I am spending my summer~ What are you playing now?

B

I’am currentily plays Kingdoms of Alamur or however it’s spelled. It’s reminds me more of fable if fable didn’t suck. Dark Souls is something I keep playing I don’t know why I can get that into that game.

I

@bob Do you like the PvP element in Dark Souls? I think this is one of the reasons why the game is difficult as hell (one can play offline, but it doesn’t feel right to be disconnected). Some say this game brings back the hardcore element into gaming, but then I don’t remember there were any old games that came close to Dark Souls’ difficulty.

N

The New Super Mario Bros 2 on the 3DS

D

I’m playing Mortal Kombat (PS3), Diablo 3, and Farcry 2. I’m not sure i like Farcry 2 yet.

B

Oh dark souls isn’t so much hard as you have to figure it out and it’s not very forgiving of mistakes. I’ve played for hours and slaughtered through things like they where nothing then got killed by something pathetic which is awesome. The PvP part I ignore cause it almost feels like cheating to me. Man a lot of old games where that difficult. And where they didn’t hold any hands either. I love that sense of discovery when you figure out what something really does. Remember it’s super important to know both timing and have your inventory set up (remember you can move while changing items). It’s saved my guy many times to break out a spear when getting PvPed. It’s actualy easier to game players cause you can trick them more. The best guy I made so far is my deprived class guy who I’ve been leveling up each stat equaly. Which makes it easy to handle anything thrown at him. Not great at anything but capable of doing anything. Can tank, or ninja it or magic out. Works great.

D

Did any Diablo 3 fans see this? https://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/6968517/Introducing\\_the\\_Paragon\\_System-8\\_20\\_2012 I think it’s better than an expansion. Level 60 will no longer be pointless. (Joy!)

N

ace of spades of aceofspades.com a free indie fps

M

On the 3DS I’ve been playing Super Mario 3D Land and Donkey Kong Junior- been wanting to play that for years, nostalgic. Also Arcade Solitaire on the ipod(a tweaked version of TriPeaks). I’ve been wanting to try Skyrim on the PS3, the Diablo series, and I’ve been told to check out Dragon Age.

B

Dragon age is great. It is nice when the combat in a game actualy requires some thinking. God some rpgs might as well just have a button propmt that reads kill enemy like they’re a bug. Though I really hate games with dragons when the dragons are easy to kill. It kind of ruins the magic.

H

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I’m about to go to the Zora temple under the lake. I love this game and have a (probably unhealthy) obsession with Midna.

I

@bob but don’t you think the fighting mechanic feels disjointed?

B

it often does.

M

Anybody like(ed) Gauntlet Legends or Gauntlet Dark Legacy? Is Diablo similar? It’s a top-down action-rpg right?

D

Ps3 Black ops and guitar hero Black ops 2 can’t come soon enough

D

@Mr. O Diablo is kind of like that, but with leveling, customization, and more elements of an RPG than the Gauntlet series. I’ve been playing since Diablo 1, and I have gotten many hundreds of hours out of each version. It was 10 years between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, and Diablo 2 was still on my computer (and played regularly) when 3 came out. It’s a sickness.

I

@Dogwalla It’s a sickness that doesn’t need a cure~~

B

@bob but don’t you think the fighting mechanic feels disjointed?

Which game where you asking this about?

M

Dogwalla- thank’s for the info! It sounds like a good series, I should just go out and start buying them, hopefully I can find copies of all of them. Are there any good old school turn-based style RPG’s on PC that I should check out? That and classic action-RPG’s are among my top 3 fave genres. I confess that I also have a soft spot for any half decent adventure/platformers I can find.

G

I’m oldфаг of Arcanum, Quake II & III, Fallout II. These are on my PC, but not played for a half a year.

B

oh it sounds like it’s been longer then that, considering these games are well over a year old (sorry just teasing).

G

Over decade old…

B

some old games are great some really make you realize how dumb we used to be :).

I

@bob I was referring to Dragon Age

B

oh yeah the combat was a little off in ways. Over all it was pretty great. Though I did get sick of having to tweak the background behavior stats (whatever they’re called) because I got sick of what the fuck are you attacking that guy for? Though I liked how challenging it was and how when you figured out what you’re doing it wasn’t that tough. You just had to really think of the tools at hand.

B

Minecraft on the Xbox 360…thoroughly addicted to it.

R

Diablo 3

D

Playing Fallout 3 right now new Vegas was a bit of a disappointment

B

loved new vegas and found skyrim a bit of a disapointment so I guess not every game for every gamer.

F

Katamari Forever. The creators of this game series must have dreamed this up while on acid.

M

Dragon Hunter Tri, I’m really not much of a gamer. It is doubtful I will ever finish this game, but it’s fun for the time being.

I

@FlippinBird Then he should be on acid more, katamari is a very fun game!

D

@Bob I should clarify I did enjoy the game play but it just seemed like it ended too fast. It took me a few months to get thru fallout 3, thanks to all the underground tunnels and I flew thru new vegas in about a month.

I

Downloading the Leviathan DLC for Mass Effect 3, I will be playing it very soon~~

B

I felt like there was more to do in new vegas but more like diffrent ways to do things and more to find. 3 had a lot more empty space.

H

A rom I downloaded of the original Pokemon Blue…oh hell yes.

F

Currently replaying through Final Fantasy IX. Also playing Rock Band Blitz…freakin’ awesome. And Tsukihime…I’d be shocked if anyone here has ever heard of it.

J

Payday: The Heist and Battlefield 3

P

You guys are going to make me breakout the NES and my copy of Final Fantasy again, are’nt you?

J

@PotPoe now that you have gone and mentioned it, I’m going to have to do the same!! :))

H

I downloaded that first FF for my phone as an app. A lot of old NES games that were big titles are available on the verizon app store, along with some Sega games too, usually for no more than 5 bucks. Definitely worth it if you are a fan of the NES games but get tired of blowing the cartridge, making sure it’s setting just right in the system, moving it back and forth, making sure only red paper clips are holding it in place and the stars are positioned with Saturn in retrograde…

B

morrowind better then skyrim as it’s actualy a game and not a tour of over poweredness. Just my opinion though.

P

I’ve actually lucked out, that cartridge’s battery is still good. I don’t have to play it non stop like my original Zelda. Of course, if someone steps on the floor to hard, i have to pray it dosent start flashing and I start all over(I hate buying 99 heal potions).

I

Morrowind was awesomsauce. No RPG since has come close to beating it imo. Skyrim was almost a good game… Almost

P

I have to agree with those who sing the praises of Morrowind. Probably my favorite game of all time. I pre-ordered the new English-language edition of Inquisitor from GOG.com. It’s supposed to be released tomorrow (September 5). Looks to be a very old-school RPG, somewhat in the style of Baldur’s Gate or Divine Divinity. The original Czech version got decent reviews.

J

@ItsMajick all the glitches pretty much killed the game for me. (Skyrim) I’ve modded the piss out of it though so it’s pretty fun for me.

T

I’m in between playing, Dead island & infamous 2… Really like dead island, infamous 2 is just tiding me over until the new Assasins creed.

B

dead island was awesome. But I got bored with it half way through.

I

I picked up dishonored today. I’m only a few hours into it but I’m liking it a lot.

N

Resident Evil 6 on my PS3

F

The Witcher : Enhanced Edition. Full of adult content and fun as hell.

B

I hate you guys playing the games I wish I was playing now.

D

xcom the new one on the ps3 its a great playing game when you’ve got your head round it, but it eats in to your free time lots…

M

Got hooked on Lumines on the PSP again. I don’t play many puzzlers, but this one stands out for me, I personally prefer it to Tetris etc.

D

I’m still on Diablo 3. I’m currently hunting the final piece to get into Whimsyshire. Nothing will be more satisfying than slaughtering unicorns and teddy bears with my barbarian. One of the pieces took me 8+ hours over the last couple of days to get. Each attempt was 3 - 5 minutes. If I held to a 4 minute average that would be 120+ attempts. Sadly, there are people who were far more unlucky than I was.

B

Got hooked on Lumines on the PSP again. I don’t play many puzzlers, but this one stands out for me, I personally prefer it to Tetris etc.

on the xbox. level 133 is insane

D

Minecraft.

M

bob- I had no idea it was on another system, very cool! I must pick up Lumines 2 as well, dunno if it’s as good though…

B

it is a good game. I love games like that because you don’t play them all day like you might play an rpg or shooter. But they age really well.

J

Borderlands 2. I’m so hooked on this game.

S

Super Mario World on an emulator on my iPad…God I love technology!

M

bob- yeah, I like that kind of stuff to play in bursts…sometimes to kill time or de-stress… I’m probably due to get at a new RPG- got some Final Fantasy’s I haven’t played yet, but not sure if I’m ready to dive into the time commitment…

M

Hey Mr bob, do you have a technique/strategy for Lumines? Such as just deleting everything as soon and quickly as possible, keeping the play field rather empty- or, like me, setting up and knocking down big combos? Just curious…

W

Mount & Blade again for me. Stefan

B

depends on the level. Since some levels you just want to clear it out since the deleting line moves really fast so building combos isn’t as easy. My main strategy is to work left to right and fill in as much as I can while following the line. There is more to it but it is hard to explain before coffee finished.

D

Torchlight 2

M

bob- I gotcha, depends somewhat for me too. But I usually build up the connections unless it gets really near full. Anyhoo, I’ve got to check the local Gamestop for Lumines 2, and gotta look for the Diablo’s and the Dragon Ages- crossing fingers for a good deal or two…

S

@Walrus1985 Glorious game. I’m hooked on dota 2 right now.

W

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky , great atmosphere and history.

B

Lost odessy (or however it is spelled)I wish they had more decent jrpgs on xbox. A lot of the ones they have frankily are tedious repatiions of everything expected with powers that would be awesome if the enemies were not doing their best job to turn the game into toddler fighter. Or to put it another way sure I can summon a meteor storm or I could casualy slap this goofs around. Though lost odessy is not bad.

D

Still Diablo 3 (has been since may). I finally got the pieces so I can open Whimsyshire, the evil unicorn/teddy bear level.

J

@Dogwalla Good luck getting the inferno plans for the staff of herding! I’ve been working on trying to get to act 4 inferno for months now… now that patch 1.0.5 is out the elites are bugged again.

D

@joesnuffer I have bad news for you. The plans for nightmare - inferno are sold by a vendor now. Just go to the appropriate difficulty, set it on the very last quest (the one to kill diablo), and the vendor in the keep (the guy right next to the healer) sells them. The 1.0.5 patch came out yesterday and it doubles the drop rate of set and legendary items. You know…the ones we farmed for dozens of hours to get the pieces we needed to build it in the first place. My buddy got all of the pieces in 4 hours last night. It took me 30+ hours to get everything. The barbarian nerf was uncalled for, but the rest of the patch is pretty awesome.

C

I mostly play roms these days. I also play my SNES every once and again.

N

I think SNES is the funest system around, I’ve spent more hours playing SNES than all other systems combined.

B

I don’t know why but I can play FILLER for hours. Give it a try: http://www.addictinggames.com/puzzle-games/filler.jsp

J

@Dogwalla Oh jesus… a vendor?! So you haven’t run into any bugged elites that can spam arcane? Lucky bastard!

T

The last game I played was MW3, which just pissed me off too much so I put it down, then I went back and started yet another game of Fallout 3, which is probably my favorite game ever. I played Dead Island too but didn’t finish, almost but I got sidetracked and haven’t gone back to it. Awesome game though. Next on the list is Borderlands 2. Never even played the first, but heard it was great and I’ve heard this one is as well.

B

the first borderlands was pretty decent. O.k. it was lots of fun but kind of hollow in certain ways.

N

@TopographicTales I was never a fan of the MW games, when it comes to COD if it ain’t got zombies I ain’t playing it.

T

Yeah, I like playing multiplayer, I get so competitive and addicted. But I’m more of an RPG guy really.

3

Starcraft 2 on the PC I like strategy now as apposed to shooters because I have time to grab a pinch now and then

N

Luigi’s Mansion on 3DS and ZombiU on my WiiU

B

I need to play Dishonored. I love when I know before hand I’ll play a game at least twice. Once as stealth through and once as a fucking total psychopath. Yeah stealth gaming used to not be my strong suit but as I get more patient it becomes more so. Though I think it’s harder to create a good stealth game. For one thing it’s not always easy to know why one time something worked and it didn’t the other. Definatily less clear then I messed up cause I got stabbed too many times :).

D

How is dishonored? I heard good and bad but it does seem like something I have to play.

H

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup Incredible free roguelike game. The dungeons are randomly generated every time, there are hundreds of possible race/class/religion combos that all play very differently. It’s extremely difficult though, the furthest I got was to dungeon level 15 or 16 and I usually die way before then. Some people win virtually every time though, it just demands a high level of skill.

B

How is dishonored? I heard good and bad but it does seem like something I have to play.

What I’ve heard is that if you liked the orginal Deus Ex you’ll love it. That it’s a imprefect game that has an atmosphere that is one of a kind and a play style that is refreshing even though not entireily orginal. Sure the stealth is wonky and the like but… Or in other words definatily play it, might not be as awesome as you hope but still worth the time and money. Then again I could be off since I’ve not played it yet.

M

Stone Soup on PC? Or which system? Just put $15 on my App Store account, used up most of it. The games there are not all gems, but one can find some good stuff for the money- quite a bit more RPG’S than one may expect. I can’t spend $60 every month for new PS3 games as it is…

H

It’s available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

D

@bob thanks. Looks like I’m going to have to find a redbox and rent it. When fallout 3 came out I heard a couple bad reviews but I went out and bought it. Turned out to be one of my all time favorites. Sounds like this one might be similar. I’m sure I will like it.

M

It’s available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Cool! May have to pick it up. IMO we need more old-school RPG’s, a’ la FF. Gimme the ol’ turn-based deals, not played on a grid, no automatic fights, no random dungeons, no timing a button press to get a better/critical attack, doesn’t get it’s difficulty by making navigation difficult, large worlds, I could really ramble on here…

D

Since it’s release, I have played almost nothing but Diablo 3. The new patch will add even greater things.

B

I’ve been going old school cause I have no money (poor student thing, probably helps my grades though). So I’ve been playing Might and Magic 6.

B

No new systems here. probably never will. Regarding my Android tablet, Mini Squadron. a Time Pilot like arcade shooter. A few casual games like Bingo Ball, Slingo and Match 3 games. I still play my slim ps2 with games like College Hoops 2K7, Gods Of War 2, Black, COD3, Gran Turismo 4, Splashdown, Need For Speed Carbon. Racing is my fave genre. I also adore pinball of any type.

F

Lately, it’s been DC Universe Online and Heroes in the Sky. I only have limited “play windows” during the week, so it takes me forever to complete a game.

M

Still may save up for a Vita, to me, if you’re using gaming technology, new is no worse than old. I like my PS3, my iPod touch 5th gen and my 3DS. This coming from a guy who still has a N64, a Dreamcast, a DS, and a PS2 (as well as a Sega Master System and an NES in storage-but maybe only one of them works).

B

Today I installed some custom firmware on my PSP so I can play some retro games through emulators. Played some Super Mario Allstars from the SNES. This evening I finally managed to crack open the latest Tomb Raider game for the PS3. A little too much like a grittier Uncharted to be honest, but it’s still very, very good. It’s made me want to put the original PS1 game on the PSP though!

M

I would like to play all the old “Wonder Boy” and “Alex the Kidd” games, as well as “Zillion” on my PSP. Any SMS+Genesis emulators for it? I know there was one for PC’s…

B

@Mr_O I want a Genesis (yuck, it’s a MEGA DRIVE ) emulator too, the one that most sites recommend seems to be Pico Drive. I’m planning on sorting that today, so I’ll let you know how it is. I’m sure there is a Master System one, but I don’t know any names. I’ll check it out

R

Aces High on the pc. The 15 bucks a month is the only drawback…

J

I get sucked into the bangbang shoot em up zombie killing games. Currently working on Contract Killer zombies 2 on the cell phone. Great for passing time waiting for jerk offs who cant show up on time to their appointments lol.

B

Dishonored & and Battlefield 3 on the 360.

M

@Bizzle - Yeah, I’d be curious what you can find. Several years ago I played Wonderboy(sms) on my pal’s PC sms emulator. Some nice nostalgia goin’ on there. I don’t remember the name of it, though.

B

@Mr_O I sorted out Pico Drive (Mega Drive/Genesis emulator) and it works great. As for a Master System one, Master Boy seems a good bet. It manages to do Master System, Game Gear, Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Not done it yet, so can’t report on how well it works. Hopefully sort it this weekend

M

@Bizzle - so, I lost track, are those for the PSP or the PC? Sounds cool, I should just google them here. I’d really like to get at some classic games…

B

@Mr_O For the PSP

M

@Bizzle Sweet! I should go out and buy a higher capacity memory card, only working with a half-full 1 gig unit atm…

B

@Mr_O Probably wise. However, the ROMs are minute in terms of data size. Sonic for the Genesis is only 224kilobytes. Not mb, kb!

M

Yeah, that is a lot less than new games. In my situation I might still download some new games too, though. So does downloading and running an emulator on a PSP require some sort of “jailbreaking”?

B

@Mr_O Yes it does but it’s very, very simple. I used this step by step guide (and downloaded the files via the link he provides in the comments) on YouTube. http://youtu.be/N1J9YsW93FE Edit: Ah, forgot the forum was clever and embedded the video. Here’s the link to the files http://www.mediafire.com/?uqibubce1oy22wx

M

Thank’s! I’ll check those out during a slower moment. Any issues afterwards with stuff I’ve downloaded from the Playstation Store?

W

X-COM Enemy Unknown (PC), liked the oldie a lot so i´m trying this new version, so far I like it.

B

@Mr_O No idea about that, to be honest (I didn’t have anything on there from the PSN myself). Worth researching first. I’d be surprised if there were issues, but check first!

M

Yeah, some research must be in order. Maybe I should shop for a cheap used 2nd PSP for emulations. So at least the UMD’s will play just fine still, then?

B

UMDs won’t be a problem at all, but there is a slight possibility that any games you’ve downloaded from the PSN won’t work. I’m sure they’d be fine, but worth checking

M

OK, I’ll do some homework then. Thank’s for the info!

B

Just remembered! If you use the hack I linked to above, this is like a ‘soft’ hack. Instead of permanently changing the code in the firmware like previous hacks, this one does…er…something else! What this means is that the official Sony firmware remains on the PSP and you have to re-hack it each time you switch the PSP on (this sounds a pain, but is as simple as selecting a file on the memory card using the PSP itself. It doesn’t lose the hack if you just place it in sleep mode). So, if you find that the PSN games don’t work with the hack running, simply switch the unit off and on again. The hack software stays on the memory card so you can just re-boot that when you want to play your ROMs.

M

Cool! I might have to try it then!

D

Still Diablo 3. I play a bit of Mario Kart with my daughter, but once she’s in bed Diablo starts lurking about.

C

Tetris. But I don’t consider it a video game so much as a lifestyle choice.

V

Fifa 08. Still in 2013.

B

I was playing far cry 3 until my ps3 developed the dreaded YLOD I have ordered the fix it kit off ebay and hopefully this will work…please tell me this works!!

F

i used to have a cfw psp, loved it, went missing though… so annoyed. currently on a trackmania kick.

M

Halo 4 and CoD MW3 on Xbox 360, also Gears of War 2 and 3

F

now ive been hit with minecraft addiction again, im on a survival server and built up a decent home etc. its all pretty much one griefer away from destruction though.

F

Just downloaded “Frozen Synapse” for the iPad. I love these types of tactical strategy games. I can see myself getting addicted to this one.

F

Just finished blood dragon on xbox 360! That was amazing!

B

Animal Crossing Wild World on the DS. Noticed that there’s a 3DS version out, but I don’t have a 3DS. Reminded me how much I used to play it

W

Still have an account for LOTRO, and waiting to see if the new Thief will be worth it’s salt.

N

Donkey Kong Country Returns on my 3DS

M

Donkey Kong Country Returns on my 3DS

Must look for that! Honestly it’s just recently been a bit here and there on the iPod, some good stuff there- if you do some research…

M

Battlefield 3 on Xbox 360

F

Just beat state of decay von 360, for an arcade game, im impressed!

B

gonna be playing max payne 3 and dishonored as soon as they get here. Have been replaying deus ex. Which still holds up on every front but gameplay.

B

Playing through GTA 3 for about the fortieth time. My all time favourite video game

B

I keep playing san andreas. I wish I had vice city. Vice city is my favorite one really. It’s just the most fun over all. 3 not so into only one I didn’t beat. I just didn’t care on the last level.

N

The Legend of Zelda - Oracle of Seasons on my 3DS

F

Currently crushing zombies in Dead Island- rip tide. Pretty good way to spend some time. Just building weapons and smashing through undead hordes.

F

Been going back to battlefield 3 recently

B

dishonoered freakin great game

D

Found my way back to some zombies in black ops 2

J

Haven’t gamed for 10 months, at ALL. AC3 on PS3, then Bioshock Infinite, then Deadspace 3, then Hitman, then Uncharted 3, THEN either DIablo 3, which I have had forever but only played for an hour, or Infamous 2 which I owned since day 1 but never played…

B

Far Cry 3 on the PS3. Picked it up this week so only a few hours in but it’s very, very good’!

N

Mario & Luigi Dream Team on my 3DS

S

The Last of Us PS3, got it on release day and have played very little as I don;t get much time for gaming, still working my way through it but am loving it so far! Also Top Spin 4 on the PS3, love my tennis games

N

The Last of us is a great game! I got it on release day too and could not stop playing it. Called in to work the next day just to finish it lol.

Z

^too bad they didnt make Last of Us for 360 :(. Im playing Assassins Creed 3 which is pretty cool.

J

Just “beat” AC3, it really stalled my gaming. I hated it, but wouldn’t let myself play any new games until I beat it. Took like 5 weeks. Just started Bioshock infinite, and it is definitely better than 2. I am loving it so far.

N

Yeah it could of made tons more money if they had let xbox get in on that. I have no games now I turned all I had over to gamestop to get the preorder paid off on GTA. Not interested in any other games right now anyways. I’m just going to play gta until I can’t stand it anymore (which usually takes 4 or 5 months) then I’m moving on to the ps4!

B

borderlands 2 wow what an awesome loot fest. If you miss games where the weapons were truly part of the fun, then play this one.

D

The walking dead on ps3

J

@distaind, I got the installment game, but no inverted controls is a joke in this day and age.

B

@distaind, I got the installment game, but no inverted controls is a joke in this day and age.

what? That is not right, in fact that’s so wrong. The first thing I have to do in any game is invert the y axis. Otherwise I move like a drunky.

D

Primarily Diablo 3…still…I’ve been playing since release. I think I need an intervention.

M

Currently downloading the World of Tanks Beta on Xbox 360. Should be great.

E

La noire on Xbox

K

Waiting on delivery of our new Alienware Aurora in a couple of weeks. We needed something powerful enough to run CAD programs, 3D rendering etc, but the fact that its one of the best gaming PCs out there is a happy …coincedence. Just bought Total War Rome 2 on Steam aswell.

M

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox 360 and League of Legends on PC

B

Diablo 3 Got bored of it after playing for a while. Might be getting bored again…

D

@bryanikon No! No boredom! Ever! Besides, the expansion was announced so we owe it to ourselves to have a large variety of characters in the upper-levels of paragon.

B

@dogwalla I suppose… the expansion better kick ass though

M

WoW

F

flitting between minecraft, nuclear dawn and GTA san andreas/vice city because i have nothing to play 5 on.

S

Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis 3, don’t own 4 yet

L

Picked up GTA V over the weekend for the 360, haven’t been able to put it down since. Highly recommended.

B

can’t wait to get GTA V

W

Thanks to this thread I am now addicted to Minecraft.

E

Good luck with that Alienware… They are notorious for overheating. Make sure you keep the cooling fans clear of dust and obstructions. Best of luck.

GTA V on PS3

B

Pokémon Black on my DS Lite. I am a big fan of the Pokémon world, and nowadays handheld gaming is the only way to play a bit - I am continuously on the run because my three years old son

E

@b4xter I used to play Pokemon Yellow on my Gameboy Color all day every day like 13 years ago. I had red and blue too, but never played them because I liked having Pikachu with me lol. I kinda miss playing it.

B

@EricJ as I remember Yellow was the third in the series, Blue and Red were the predecessors, and the first appear of Pikachu was in Yellow. In the later issues you can have Pikachu in two ways: by trading them from other players or you can catch them in the wild (maybe not in every issue). Recently I bought a second-hand GB color and a DS Lite on Ebay to re-play those old episodes (the Lite can play the old GB Advance cartridges as well). So theoretically now I can play every issue if I have enough time And I am waiting for the brand new releases on 3DS: X and Y (they will be available in a couple of week).

D

GTA V is the first game to break my Diablo 3 obsession. @b4xter I have X & Y reserved for my wife and me. I think I’ve played just about every version on the Gameboy over the years. I never did play Sapphire though. I was poor at the time and could only afford Ruby. Those were sad times.

I play the same stuff for years but i am happy with it and dont feel to go somewhere else in terms of gaming. Here you go: - Battle For Wesnoth - TripleA /both are available as open-source (means: legal free software) and all OS’s (Win,Mac,Linux). Both games can played online (direct game, lan, play via email). 2 AWESOME games with DEEP gaming - Day Of Defeat: Source (best WW2 co-operation MP-shooter of all times) - lof of emulation: MAME, NES, SNES, NEO-GEO hit me for more infos on that… happy gaming and snuffing

Batman Arkham Origins - Blackgate on my 3DS Pretty good for a handheld Arkham game

M

@n9inchnails I want to AO - Blackgate soon, it looks great, it’s on Vita as well. But first I’m going to get Arkham Origins for the 360. Currently I am playing Batman Arkham Asylum on 360, played it for a while a year or so ago but never finished it, trying to finish it now.

Borderlands2. Have not been playing much games for a while so am catching up on some older titles. Loved the first one to death despite the lame ending, and am even more hooked on the sequel. Good 'ol tongue in cheek ultra-violence!

dungeon crawl stone soup. whatever version the latest trunk is. best. roguelike. ever. digging the new races. liked playing the lava orc as a monk. http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/ or just google ‘crawl’. first hit. also free to play. just sayin’. pc / mac / linux / android or compile your own. I do prefer a keyboard w/ a numpad though. ascii or tiles. (go tiles, you won’t regret it!) also there are online tourneys, although it is a single player game. this is no twitch based shooter, but it is fun as hell, if you take the time to learn, or if you cut your teeth on roguelikes when you were younger. I think the port of ‘larn’ for the amiga was my first. followed by ‘hack’ and then ‘moria’ don’t get me wrong, I appreaciate all current roguelike devs, but the DCSS team has made the most fun RL ever!

Dark Corners of the Earth, PC, Lovercraftian first person shooter (although the first 3 hours of playing you don´t have any weapon) with lots of horror, puzzles & investigation, great immersive feeling. It´s a bit old but if you like Lovecraft mythos universe it´s a must!

Love that game. It’s awesome. It’s more a proto detective game. It’s much more about noticing detail. Loved everything about that game, sadly it never got the attention it deserved. Mainly because it seemed like a shooter when that was just the skeleton. Love the first action scene in it. It’s survival horror. I’ve actually had people hate the game then after explaining it’s not a shooter say it was one of their favorites from that generation.

oh and did I mention Gothic, the COLLECTORS edition? mhm, mhm, you jelly?

R

Watch Dogs, it’s really good.

M

Just purchased Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim last night at 50% off from Gamestop.com. Planning on starting it up this afternoon. I really loved Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and haven’t played any of the series since Oblivion and that was years ago, I’ve heard good things about Skyrim so I’m looking forward to getting into it

B

skyrim is good. It might take you off guard with how different then morrowind it is. It’s too easy to make a power avatar and more fun if you impose the limits yourself. Currently playing Dragons Dogma. Which is a lot more awesome then I thought it would be. The story is a little weak but it’s straight up action roleplaying done well the fun is traveling the countryside slaying things with skill sets that are actually fun to use. Though straight magicusers suck terribly in the game as far as I am concerned.

Personally I was somewhat disappointed by Skyrim… even more after playing shivering isles. Skyrim just felt more empty, like a tin of some great poschl in the mail, but its empty. Best way I can describe it… the gfx are good, dual wielding is awesome, and all the shouts are fun to play with. Gothic 3 is better than skyrim though, definately worth a shot, the biggest downside to Gothic would be hunting wolves, theyre op, much weaker than a large orc with a sword bigger than a horse, capable of tearing buildings down just by leaning on them. Apart from that its great.

If you got it on PC these can help a lot with that ““too big for it’s own good”” feeling. nexusmods.com/skyrim/?

Prison Architect. Which for a game still in the alpha phase of development is fantastic, high-risk inmates will riot at the drop of a hat and make your life hell. I can’t get them to behave for more than a few hours…

F

battlefield 3 xbox 360. i picked it up in a pawn shop, got it home and noticed cracks on the inner ring. i can take it back within 24 hours… unfortunately i actually cant. well, it was £2. i installed it to hard drive and taped the cracks, hopefully itll last till i find it cheap somewhere else.

K

Company of Heroes 2 on my Alienware Aurora, a great game.

B

Thanks to Xbox Lives Games with Gold, Saints Row the Third and as of Last night Dark Souls. I think I died 20 times last night playing Dark Souls, quite an intense game, excited to get into this one.

P

Titanfall xbox 360

M

@bryanikon that’s great I missed those two games with the “Games with Gold” thing because i let my Gold expire a couple months ago. I’ve been mainly on PC with LoL, Hearthstone, etc. Would have liked to get those two free.

B

dark souls is the best game for the 360 in my opinion.

F

cant believe i missed saints row on gold… damn it.

B

@md363‌ Yeah I think the last free one is available June 16th. I believe its Street Fighter, which I’ll also grab probably. I’m mad I missed a bunch of the others, I havent been playing vid games a whole lot till I downloaded these ones for free. @bob‌ It is fantastic! The level of frustration would warrant a rage quit if I had a shorter fuse, but oh the sweet sweet feeling of success when you finally kill a mini-boss/Boss… Too many times have I gotten a little hasty and got killed with a few thousand souls 8-X This one will keep me coming back for more.

B

yeah I love the way you actually have to figure the game out. It’s like nes before we figured out what the booklets that came with games were about. The last boss is insane. Love the save system too. Yeah it didn’t take to long to figure out when lots of souls either spend them or save up to spend them before taking on a boss.

B

oh the sorta cheat when you get the snake that eats items for souls. If you buy certain objects from the merchants near by certain cheap objects then run back and sell them to snake guy you make a small profit.

R

Euro Truck Sim 2, it’s really much better than it sounds.

N

Since my last post in this thread I played gta 5 then south park stick of truth (awesome game) then lately I been playing watch dogs all on ps3. All 3 pretty good games

dark souls too it’s good but not the same level as the first.

C

I’m playing nothing right now but i want to get a ps4 and good steambox dual OS I’m marrying someone who loves games as much as myself, so my game room won’t stop there. Primarily I play horror games or shooters. My favorite thing though is putting on a survival horror game at 1 AM and turning off the lights. Examples are; When I was a kid I enjoyed Doom series quake series, prey etc Nowadays still about the same stuff but I mix it up a bit Dead space Alan wake Silent hill ( open world horror games are amazing, expect " Silent Hills new release in 2016 ) Dead island Left for dead Open world; Fallout series Skyrim PC games; World of Warcraft league of legends Day Z Soon they will release " The evil within " and I’ll be all over that. Check out the trailer through YouTube. I could go on forever but I haven’t played a single game in months ( last was gta 5 ) But soon I’ll probably go on my normal binge and buy a new system to start playing again

C

We dusted off the old Wii today and I am watching my 4 year old play Super Mario World. What a blast! It’s amazing how the young ones pick up on these things.

N

Last of Us Remastered on my new PS4

R

@R25 what system are you playing it on, a PC? I’ve got a PS4 copy waiting for me at Purolator, will be picking it up tomorrow

Yeah a PC dude, not interested in consoles any more.

B

I’d like to try out DayZ Standalone, need to get myself a pc. Mac’s just don’t cut it for gaming.

E

I don’t know about that @baconpete. My Mac runs everything just great, and I can dual boot Windows for the occasional game that isn’t supported by OSX.

B

Fair enough @El_presidente. I don’t know if its the model I have (late 2013) or there is something faulty with it, every time I try to play any game on it, it overheats like crazy. I’m interested in looking into dual boot like parallels etc. but I don’t know if it would be enough. Although video/graphics/web editing or anything under that spectrum works fine without any issues.

F

@baconpete I’ve tried gaming on my basic early '11 MBP 8gb ram upgraded. Used to run stuff like Portal 2, Left4Dead (1/2), Team Fortress 2, Nuclear Dawn, Minecraft, and a few others but now it doesn’t seem to like them anymore. I get terrible frame rates and the HL2 based stuff I listed seem to take ages through menus and hang like crazy. Virtualisation (even parallels) is a no-go for gaming, and windows in bootcamp didn’t like using the fans properly leading to the already high operating temps to push over the edge. I just need the cash to push into a gaming rig… but I would either go hackintosh or just sink it into another macbook- I love gaming, but not enough to stop using OSX as primary OS.

B

@Firestarter0 do you know of anyone gaming on iMac with good experiences?

F

i used my girlfriends 2011 quad i5 for the games i already owned (and listed above) and it worked great, except for the heat. damn that thing gets hot. its burnt behind the screen in the top left where i think the psu block is, but then again, the imac is basically laptop. for gaming i have to say a purpose built hackintosh or maybe a decent older case style intel macpro if dont want to try hackintosh would be the way to go.

F

gta 5 360. finally got it working.

B

@Firestarter0 Was it a disc? I’m finding digital is the way to go for consoles nowadays.

F

@baconpete first i left the install disc at home, got that sorted. then discovered the play disc was too damaged to install straight to xbox* or play for longer than 10 minutes without blackscreening. so i borrowed a friend’s play disc to install to drive and use my damaged one for DRM verification since the xbox needs the game disc in to verify its not pirated. then my internet had problems with xbox live. then rockstar servers were down for maintenance haha. sorted now though. *xbox 360- i usually prefer digital, but can get discs cheaper. also the 360 version needs an install disc to install to xbox and a play disc for the other half of the data, since the 360 uses DVD rather than higher capacity blu-ray. they advise the play disc not be installed because streaming both lots of data from the hard drive alone causes a bottleneck and lots of graphical glitches. however my 360 is a fat model, and using the disc drive causes lots of noise and heat (remember the red ring of death? that was overheating causing the GPU to unsolder itself). i found the best setup is to install the ‘install’ disc on a fast USB stick and the ‘play’ disc onto the hard drive- minimal disc drive use, and data gets to stream from two places avoiding the bottleneck.

B

@Firestarter0 ah I understand now, atleast your able to put it on a usb I never knew you could do that. How do you even transfer the game onto a usb? still with using the 360? That dreaded ring of death converted me to ps3, I haven’t had to many problems with it but its lens is goddamn sensitive thats for sure. Had to send mine in for a new one. I’m still not ready to buy a ps4 yet mineaswell wait till the price drops eh. I also heard the new consoles life is only a span of five years rather than the usual 10.

F

yeah, the 360 lets you run games and stuff from a fast enough USB, the usb gets formatted to the xbox filesystem and is limited to 32gb but its a great cheap way to increase the amount i can store, optimise dual source games like gta 5 and halo etc. i got an xbox one at home and i use it as a media centre, works really well in that respect, makes up for the slightly lower graphics capacity and using plex i can stream all my media to it easily. i dont mind the projected shorter lifespan, because the last one was ridiculously long, and by the time its outdated i will hopefully afford to build a decent gaming computer/get the next gen and keep the xbox one as a media centre (and though i use mac now, windows 10 looks like it will eventually be able to stream pc games to the xbox one, thus increasing its multiple uses).

N

Majora’s Mask 3DS

V

Geometry Dash on my phone, this game is unbelievably addictive, frustrating, difficult. But boy is it rewarding when you complete a level!

S

I fired up Skyrim again about a year ago (or whenever the update removed the level cap)… I have a Lvl 85 character on there and I’m in the process of doing every quest possible in the game. I still have the DLC to complete yet. Right now I’m working on getting my Blacksmithing up to 100% and my Enchanting at 100% so I can make some insane Dragon Bone Armor.

N

Love my Farsight video pinball. Takes me back to the “old school”.

B

@SeanOCDPx do you have an old windows 95 system just mucking about, Or are you DOS Box-ing it?

S

I’ve played the Civilization franchise since the II and no end in sight. I find Civ 3 (modded to last longer) maybe the best. Now kind of bored of V and waiting for VI. Got no BE and will not have.

I would buy Combat Mission Battle for Normandy (or any of them) if I had the money. I’ve played the old iterations lately, but  the dumbness of AI is really a turn off. I wanted to hook my brother to play with me, but he has a kid now and all that family stuff is taking his time

Also a big fan of Total War series. I have Empire and Napoleon through Steam. Only thing with this game is that they have never repaired the totally messed up fortresses in tactical combat. Really makes me mad.

S

@Bender.  No, can’t use any of those old codes.  I downloaded all of the old Doom games on my PS3.

P

I’m usually really old school when it comes to video games . PAC Man. On occasion I do enjoy the hitman games or mortal kombat. Avid nfl fan, however, in recent years the AI in Madden has made the game more frustrating than fun.

WW2 online. Dated graphics but the subscribers have kept it going 15 years. No matches so some really huge battles. Begins France 1940. Half scale map of Europe, so sometimes you do some walking or driving. Great player community. War Thunder on simulator mode. Dating myself; my brother and I got Atari 2600 for Christmas in 1982.

L

World of Tanks on Xbox.  It’s been my only game for the past two years.  I like that it has a high skill ceiling and almost unlimited knowledge you can learn about the capabilities of the various vehicles.  Very addicting.  And free to play!

J

World War 2 online/Battleground Europe. 1/2 scale map of most of Europe-England, France, Zeelands, Germany. All stuff player controlled with multicrewing on vehicles, ships and aircraft available. Otherwise, you have to shift from, say, driver to gunner in a tank, or pilot to gunner or bombardier in a bomber. I usually play Axis. Game is 15 years old and player supported MMO. If state of the art graphics are not important to you and can stand the learning curve, it is a great game with a very nice player base. Extremely challenging. There is nothing else like it. I had hoped Iron Front would be but not much online with that one. Pride of Nations. What a complex game! I let it sit for a year until I got some evenings open to learn it.

P

I’ve been playing world of warplanes, Armored warfare, and some insurgency. I’ll have to check out WWII online and pride of nations.

Psicko, WW2 Online is a tough game but rewarding. My favorite part is there are no matches. You might have 100 people fighting over a town. Some attacks have five people and never get momentum. There is no limit on participants in attacks or defense. I have spawned in to defend towns under attack. It takes a moment to get your bearings and read the chat bar for what place needs help the most. The biggest disorienting thing is the absolute noise of bombs, air raid sirens, small arms fire, AAA guns, anti tank guns, etc. It really sounds like a war zone. You eventually learn the sound of a allied tanks versus a panzer, or the different types of small arms. If you play, try out aircraft and tanks on offline or on the training server. They take time to master but the guys who are good with them are really good. I usually play infantry hauling a rifle or smg. Pride of Nations is empire management. A lot going on. Takes place from 1850-1920. So.e scenarios feature some fairly obscure but important events in Europe. The main game features the world. Sort of an updated version of Imperialism.

P

@Joseph James thanks for the info. I’ll check it out when I get a chance.

About to check out Defiance on xbox 360. Anybody have opinions on this one?

A

Modern Warfare Remastered (PS4) I don’t like infinite Warfare futuristic one. I like in the now Warfare or the past WW2 etc. glad Modern Warfare Remastered came with Infinite Warfare. As I loath Infinite Warfare. I’d love to see COD World at War released in a upgrade or another WW2 game, battlefield 1 seems kool from what I’ve seen I may get that. Anyone’s view on Battlefield 1? Will I like it being a COD fan?

B

dark souls 2 remastered on the ps4. I liked it better then 3 which was a good game but a little too easy for a dark souls game. Playing it again I beat the original version. This time I am playing as the deprived class (which is just the start with nothing so you can build the guy as you want) and doing a generalist build. Which is takes a while to get up to snuff, but it’s a way fun way to play since you’re equally good at all things so you can change your play style up which is more fun then crushing it in one way or the other.

A

Not playing it just yet but because it’s still downloading (50gb!), But got a deal on PSN for the Witcher 3 and all dlc. Am excited to try it, waiting impatiently. Haven’t played the first two or read the books. Heard it’s a good fantasy style game though. Anyone played it yet? Am I gonna miss out on anything by starting from the 3rd game in the series?

B

Yes the Witcher 3 is amazing one of the best games in recent times. So much good about it. Jealous of your getting to play it for the first time.

B

oh and no not missing anything by not playing the others. It gets you up to speed fast about who is who.

A

I will be playing Battlefield 1 fairly soon. I cant wait!

B

@Aamon that games name in five years is going to make kids say I don’t get why the first one plays newer then the other ones.

J

Axis just won campaign on Battleground Europe. 1940 starts over again. I might go Allied this time and try driving the Char B1s and Churchills. My hat is off to the developers. They just released new mobile spawn systems and continue to clean up the 15 year old code. If anyone tries the game, look for me if you need help. Joe121.

A

The Swapper on PS4 Since I opened it for the first time ~1hr ago, I can’t seem to stop playing it. And the Witcher 3 is waiting unplayed. But I just had to try this indie game I found on sale first… just to see what it’s like…

J

@agentshags A lot of indie games are really good. I bought Verdun through Steam early on and it has been improving over time.

U

I’m really into Warframe right now, but I’m usually playing Destiny.

P

I just downloaded tiger knight from steam before I went to work. Haven’t played it yet. It’s an MMO that takes re-enacts the massive battles from China in 300bc. Looks like it might be fun.

A

Worms Armageddon on PS3. Very nostalgic

A

PoGo + Willie Pete.

P

@agents hags have you played ingress.

A

@AlKindiSnuff I have been playing battlefield 1 quite a bit recently. I’m a big fan of battlefield 1 they have recreated the maps scale for scale of certain battles. I find the main difference is that battlefield tends to steer the franchises to a much more realistic type of gameplay. For example they have realistic bullet drop, game mechanics and a bit more accurate in damage. I loved odern warefare though I love the realism of battlefield 1 especially online gameplay. Single player for battlefield 1 is incredible im not a fan of previous war story modes though battlefield 1 is worth buying just for this. Just be warned if you are used to futuristic technology and weapons you will get none of this in battlefield 1. I see the game as almost a WW1 game simulator.

Though if you are still on the fence about buying the game try borrowing the game for a few days to give it a decent tryout. If you cant borrow it by all means buy it, if you’re looking for a WW1 game I wouldnt look any further.

A

@psicko I have it but hadn’t played it much, mostly used it to locate spawn points in PoGo lol

final fantasy XV and if you’ve thought maybe on it just do it. It’s back to form for this one. It’s pretty amazing.

J

Battleground Europe still. Axis (my team) won last campaign. Last night we took several towns. This is unusual. Normally, Allies are a steamroller, but the Americans and Sherman tanks haven’t arrived yet. War Plan Orange. Just bought from Matrix Games. It’s an older game using hexes like the old Avalon Hill board games. Japan vs. US/Britain/China/ANZAC in the 1920s. Sort of a what if with dreadnoughts, other inter war period units. Pride of Nations turned out to be terrible. Great game but it crashes a lot. I’ve tried running as administrator, changing graphics settings but nothing helps. I can play three turns and then it crashes. At least it auto saves.

Z

I play Guild Wars 2. Real computer, no game box for me.

A

All those that play PC which setup do you run? I’m on next gen ps4 at the moment and wondering what kind of price we’re looking at for a decent PC setup?

J

@Aamon I am using a circa 2008 Dell Inspiron 530. I installed a Nvidia video card (2Gig)(Battleground Europe won’t work with integrated video cards) and beefed up the power supply. I manage to play a lot of stuff with no problems even with such an old machine. Buying or building a new machine is low on the priority list for me. Do you know how much snuff I could buy for the price of a new computer?!

Z

@Aamon If you’re capable of building yourself (or know someone who is) you can get a decent setup for $1000-1500. If you depend on the gouging of others, make that more in the range of two to three thousand.

N

Doom 2016 - Love it!

G

Fallout New Vegas, Elder Scrolls Skyrim, Borderlands Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2. Been playing them again and again for the last 2 years on PC. Need to update my rig.

N

@Gokul - You a gamer too?! Me too! I just upgraded my rig a month back. Spent a good sum on it and made the best of the steam winter sale. I love all what you mentioned and I have quite a collection

A

@Zanaspus alittle to pricey for me at the moment.

Does anybody else have a PS4 and play Battlefield 1 or GTAV with a mic?

Dragon ball xenoverse online. If I had something like this 15 years ago, I would definitly give up school and friends. Its tremendously addictive for a DB fan. I can stay in my room playing and snuffing for days. Luckily I had a lot of stuff to do that keep me busy.

P

I’ve been playing a decent amount of player unknown battlegrounds. For those who don’t know what it is, it is a battle royale death match(last man standing). Think of the hunger games, but with modern day guns and attachments. You and up to 99 others parachute onto an island and need to search for weapons and supplies then try to be the last man standing. You can play solo, so and squad(4 people). It is fun but very challenging.

@Konrad_von_Marburg What server do you play ET on? I play it too.

K

@Rogue

Oh cool! I am on Final Assasins, F|A is the symbol you will see on the server list. I am in Beginners 1 (FA has a list of different servers they run) usually because they banned me from the Hardcore server. LOL

I use the nick Emperor in green and black letters. If you get on any of the FA servers just ask them how to get to Beginners 1 and you should be pointed in that direction.

See you there maybe! I usually play a few rounds through the day.

R

@Konrad_Von_Marburg ok, I tried the server, it’s one of the biggest piles I’ve ever tried. What’s with the trickjumping, spamming, and whining players?

K

Which one did you go to? What server do you play on usually? How long have you been playing ET? What is your user name?

B

GTA5 again. It’s the updated newer generation version. And holy shit it’s worth replaying cause if you thought it was beautiful on the last generation wow.

R

@Konrad_Von_Marburg first tried ET in 07, went away for years, currently playing on DS, name there is Xerei

K

@Rogue

Ok, I have never heard of that server. I will try to see if I can find it.

K

@Rogue

It looks like there are many DS servers? Which one are you on? I did the same, played back in early 2000 left for ages, tried to come back few years back couldn’t get it to work, been back now though for about a year.

K

@Rogue

All the DS servers are full of bots and no players.

R

@Konrad_Von_Marburg I was on beginners #2 a few hours ago, but net was unstable, so figured Id call it a day. The bots disappear when people join. For every person that joins, one bot disappears

K

@Rogue does the server ever get busy with people? It seems pretty dead. At least the FA servers are always populated with people.

R

@Konrad_Von_Marburg yeah, it gets pretty busy at times, you’ll find that each server gets filled with people at X times. May have to do with players being from diff countries…server 2 and 3 should be filled with life in a few hours only.

G

Just jumped back on ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) on PS4. If anyone is playing this one let me know. Can get a Snuff guild goin. I play both PvE and PvP.

A

@newbiesnuffer yes after SpyCraft, the Civs are the Greatest Game (bad joke) @baconpete still love 5. I didn’t side with the anti-5 band wagon as not getting hit by a 20-stack is a welcome change sometimes. I bought 6 but haven’t been able to try it yet. Civ 2/FreeCiv is still my favorite though … probably because that’s what I started on 20 years ago and have the most time in. My problem, and so the answer to this thread is Nothing, is that I’m always wasting my rare bits of free time on building computers rather than actually enjoying them :-p I’m working on a half-rack-sized watercool rig with as much radiator as a semi at the moment, AMD threadripper 16 core on a ASUS Zenith Extreme and AMD Vega GPU (all under water including the mobo) with nVMe storage

@SunnyDay I play Hearthstone too once in awhile. I got a mighty Murlock deck I play around with and if I don’t win fast enough I will lose late game 100% the time. I love the Murlocks though. Diablo was a pretty fun game its what got me into games and I always wanted Enigma armor but never got it. I liked the PvP. Poe was a fun game too. My wife was a huge world of warcraft player, I bought an account to play with her and I immediately drowned in the water trying to meet up with her. I was probably the only lvl 90+ who didn’t know how to swim.

N

Shadow of the Tomb Raider on PS4

B

@n9inchnails A friend of mine just finished that, said it was fantastic

A

Recently finally “finished” fallout4 including dlcs. Only took a couple years

B

I love that game but have never finished it. Got over 100 hours logged on my PS4 character and 15 or so on my melee build on the Xbox.

B

I’ve been craving fallout4 again. One of the few games I recommend playing on the hardest setting. Not because it’s too easy but it changes the game in ways that make it more interesting. You have to take combat in a more strategic trying and scope it out first kind of way and not the typical I’ve got enough stim packs to charge through these sons of bitches. Cover becomes important. Currently replaying Skyrim this time with a fast travel ban. Broken once because getting caught in the scenery when you’re practically there is a good reason to break a fast travel ban.

Edit almost forget I recommend playing without fast travel. Some of the best things happen between places the quests feel more epic, and you get a better idea of the layout of the map which is one of the stars of the game in the first place.

B

Missile Command.

S

Original Nintendo Dr. Mario. Maybe this should go in the Feeling Nostalgic thread!

R

Pac man world 3 on game cube.

A

@bob and @bizzle you jerks talking about FO4 right after I uninstall it … now I’ve gone and installed it again! My first (only) playthrough was a light armor suppressed sneak. Went Minutemen after a little time poking around the Railroad and Institute. Removed the raiders from Nuka and sided with synths in Far harbor. In the end went to war with the Brotherhood. Did some quick leveling through a lot of crafting and the 4x sneak along with Deliverer were a big part of the build’s viability. But rarely challenged So this time I’m going to rush to the brotherhood and see how a power armor + heavy plays. Brotherhood in fo1, 2 & tactics were a lot easier to like than in the Bethesda games in my experience so far but I don’t want to miss that whole branch of the game. Will skip the robot dlc and paying close attention to settlements this time and far harbor as well doesn’t have a lot of replayability. After playing that last build up to level 84 it’s fun to be happy to find some leather armor again

B

@ar47 @bob All the factions in FO4 are jerks except probably the Minutemen but Preston is so damn annoying that it makes me dislike them too! I’ve never completed the story in either of my play-throughs but I think I’m going to side with the Institute on the most advanced of my two characters. I think it’s probably what I would do in real life if I was in that position (make of that what you will!!) Forza Horizon 4 is amazing, if anyone’s interested. Played for about four hours last night and the graphics have really blown me away on the One X

R

Gran Turismo 4. Great game.

M

@Bizzle I’m also playing Horizon 4 on Xbone.  Is it just me, or is it a bit easier than Horizon 3?  I’m having to play with more difficult settings than last time or I win every race.

B

@ar47 and @Bizzle never played the DLC I take it that it’s worth getting. I tried to play once through with all the factions but I did the brotherhood and the minutemen only. I don’t know why but the railroad bored me and the institute is so far down the story line. I should pick the game up again especially if it’s one of those game of the year additions.

B

@moemojo I’m doing the same, although I’m putting it down to my superior skill and extensive knowledge of Britain’s roads…Nah, it does seem easier this year @bob @ar47 I like Far Harbor a lot, Nuka World I’ve not done much with. You play as a Raider and I’m not really into being a bad guy. Automatron was pretty good

A

@bob @Bizzle there are a handful of DLCs Robo: adds ability to modify and upgrade robots. Takes place in commonwealth. Quest is fairly short and single threaded, but some good close quarters high volume combat. Skipping this time Far harbor: new map area. Interesting quests, fair amount of content. Not much replayability though as you can play all sides in one go Nuka world: new large map area. Lots of high quality content, could almost be an expansion. This is the best one IME @Bizzle I found lots to do here while still crossing the raiders, but will consider working with them this time for new content Vault 88: short. Turns a vault into a settlement. Not replayable

C

Here’s my recent gaming … LOL:

V

I love simple old games. Not sure if they qualify as video games, though. Yatzy (dice) is one of my favourites:

http://famholen.com/download.html (works on Win7, too; my MaxiYatzi highscore is 558).

I had wasted tons of time playing Minesweeper and Solitaire (was really addicted to them).

C

Sword of mana on the gameboy micro

C

@volunge … forgot about Minesweeper and spent tons of time playing that!

J

Anyone else played any of the old Infinity Engine games? I’ve recently had a bit of a nostalgic wander through Baldur’s Gate 1, 2, and the expansion Throne of Bhaal. I just completed the first Icewind Dale game and have just begun the expansion Heart of Winter. The Icewind Dale soundtrack is breathtaking.

A

@JDU44 yes … far too much/little time in Baldur’s Gate. I did a full playthrough of Big World a few years ago, which is a megamod that ports BG1 and ToSC onto BG2 engine and combines them with BG2 and ToB to make one big game. Also optionally adds tens or hundreds of other mods as well. I still have the original CDs and boxes from when the games originally came out. Really special games those. Played through so many times over the years - they did a great job with Shadows of Amn ensuring replay value with the different class-specific quests and alignments. I’m sure there is still content I’ve yet to find after all these years. When you finish IWD it starts to get tough to find content of the same quality and quantity in my experience. IWD2 is dramatically more linear with lots of pre-scripted battles. Neverwinter Nights (1) is much more about dungeon crawling and missed the magic of NPC personalities. NWN2 did much better but still no BG. Dragon Age Origins is OK first playthrough but only superficial replay value in my experience. The one I never played is Planescape Torment. Have you?

N

The Evil Within 2 on PS4

B

@JDU44 actually playing Baldurs gate 2 again. And finding it much easier then the first time. For one thing playing as a cleric and with one druid and one mage/cleric as followers. Really helps a lot to have the healing spells.

M

I have Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-ordered.

I can’t wait for tomorrow.

N

The waiting game… waiting for my Red Dead Redemption 2 to show up… its on vehicle for delivery, should be here ANY minute

P

Yeah , I got mine …90 minutes to install , I think 4.5Gig to download as a Day 1 patch .

Still not out of the training missions yet and I haven’t been instantly grabbed by it but it’s early days .

A

I bought a used xbox one once just to play RDR1. Will RDR2 ever come out for PC?

B

currently playing dead space 3 would actually be playing it now but the girlfriend is in the way at the moment. Which is cool. Actually bored the game from the library. And man I did not like Dead Space, it didn’t live up to the hype. 3 actually feels like I was told the first one would. It is scary it’s tough and creepy. The first one just never got to me for whatever reason. Also borrowed 188whatever the order. From what I hear that’s perfect for one good session of gameplay.

B

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Be3pTAO0P18

B

the above video answers the Skyrim mystery of the bug jars. And it’s with info confirmed offically by the developers.

C

I always prefered deaf space 1 and 2 over 3. Still enjoyed it but the co op/companion made it feel less spooky to me. If i ever get time i will continue playing god of war

B

I didn’t like 1 and 3 so far the first half was awesome. But it’s too repetitive and the enemies stop being scary most of the time. On 1 I only died on those weird levels with asteroids or something like that. It just didn’t hit for me is all. Have not tried 2 I hear 2 is the best of the three.

N

If you guys want a scary game you should try The Evil Within. The enemies are right creepy especially the bosses and its full of jump scares and fucked up shit just randomly happens throughout the game. Evil Within 2 is way easier, less scary and way less creepy than the original.

A

Only thing I’ve been playing is a little BF1 here and there while putting in extra work late nights If I had the time I think I’d do Wasteland 2 again. Played when it very first came out and I understand there have been a lot of revisions since then. I got to the second area and then stopped playing when I hit a bug that essentially corrupted my save. With talk of Baldur’s Gate and playing Fallout recently it’s a good open-ish world, isometric, turn-based combat, non-linear(ish) RPG middle ground. I also have Civ 6 which I haven’t tried and BF5 on preorder coming out in a couple weeks though so lots of competition for very little time

B

played the evil within I felt it kind of petered out like a lot of games of the sort do. It got way easier after a few upgrades.

N

The whole point of upgrading is to make the game easier, this is true for literally every game that has upgrades. If you dont want it easier then dont upgrade.

B

not quite true. The upgrades should be part of the balance of the game. You should need to level up so that you can take on things that are harder. A good example of that would be Dark Souls where yes you upgrade and it makes it easier but it never puts you at a point where you feel invincible enough that you don’t really have to engage in the game anymore to progress. I don’t mind a game being easier I mind it becoming so easy that the immersion is lost because the enemies and obstacles feel secondary (a good story or amazing setting can eliminate that. GTA isn’t a hard series but it’s still fun). The early resident evil games all had either upgrades or better weapons but you needed them and the game still had enough challenge to feel engaging. The early parts of the Evil with In for example the upgrades felt needed and the enemies kept the game engrossing because the felt dangerous near the end the whole sense of danger was gone and in a survival horror game that’s the whole point. You know a survival horror game is good when you always feel a sense of tension a sense that you might not have enough ammo or life. I also approve of games that let you develop into a God of destruction but it should feel earned. Example Fallout New Vegas when you have the best items and you’ve maxed out there is something that just feels right about being able to take out a pack of deathclaws after having spent most of the game thinking “oh shit” when you see one. Balance is the industry term that describes this.

J

@ar47- I really wish there had been more Infinity Engine games. BG1&2 and IWD were a huge part of my youth, and I don’t really get the same feeling at all from any of the NWN or DA games. I liked mucking about with NWN mostly for the level editor and I really enjoyed DA (in part because it wasn’t afraid to get a bit more adult with the violence, and I felt that BG/IWD kind of brushed over the psychological toll cutting short so many lives would take. I know it’s a part of your character’s heritage in BG, but you know what I mean!). I agree that none of the post IWD games came close to the replayability of their predecessors.

I have played PS:T but haven’t got very far in it. I was playing a few other games at the time and quickly realised that the sheer depth of the setting and storytelling (the number of dialogue options in some conversations were ludicrous) meant that I should stop until I could focus on PS:T exclusively, but that time never came. I know that places like gog.com have PS:T remastered and the sequel, so when I’m done with IWD HoW and another play through Pillars of Eternity I might give PS:T another go.

Have you played any of the newer stuff like Pillars of Eternity1&2, Tyranny, or the newly-released Pathfinder: Kingmaker? I’ve only gone through PoE once so far but it’s a lot of fun.

@Bob- Yes it really helps to have some serious healing power in BG2! I ran through as a solo Fighter/Thief, and I had to stockpile health potions like they were going out of fashion. Having Aerie and Cernd are good bets (especially Aerie at higher levels).

Glad I’m not the only one here with an abiding love of these classics

B

yeah most of the time when you play old games you realize the past is the past for a reason, but everyone once in a while you find a classic and all of the old school nonsense doesn’t take away from it. Sure the design is overly complicated sure the graphics are cheap, but damn the game still kicks ass.

A

@JDU44 nice to have another friend in a separate vice on the same forum I did the kickstarter for Pillars. It’s a goodish game in my opinion. I found some great side quest content. But frankly and plainly I have little compulsion to play it again. The big optional dungeon there was … boring. It’s a good gesture but the one from Throne of Bhaal was just beyond comparison. I also havent played it since they came out with the major patches though. Very curious to hear about PoE2 with open mind

J

@ar47- Likewise! Snuffers are people of good taste, after all

I know what you mean about Pillars. I think my biggest gripe with it is that it’s too well-balanced. I like the fact that a bit of knowledge about the way BG works goes a long way in getting past hard battles early on, and I love that some of the stuff you can obtain is almost game-breaking in power (Ring of Gaxx, Staff of the Magi, Robe of Vecna et al). It’s cool to have those options, even if you don’t use them; but Pillars feels more linear and almost ‘plodding’ in terms of progression. Could just be my relative lack of familiarity with it though.

PoE2 sounds nuts: apparently there’s pirating elements that play almost like Civ!

J

@bob- Those old Infinity Engine games absolutely nail the voice-talent (David Warner as Irenicus and Tony Jay as Kresselack!). I admit I don’t play a lot of newer stuff, and it could be my inner fogey talking; but modern games don’t seem to be of the same calibre (Sean Bean should be ashamed of his performance as Martin Septim in Oblivion!).

EDIT- Irenicus… er… David Warner in Time Bandits:

https://youtu.be/R6OKLgLZHFk

A

The Illithid lair under Athkatla The realm traveling wizard orb and bard fireplace The guy who makes suits from human skin The Keep The Dragons in SoA … Just scratching the surface of such good stuff!! I also really enjoy the first Deus Ex game. And Curse of Monkey Island (Monkey3). These are timeless. First xcom was pretty good too

B

@JDU44 there are some amazing games that have come out recently. Some just as good as any of the older classics. The Witcher 3 is one often cited. Even though it’s last gen Resonance of Fate did something interesting with the Role playing Genre and is either a hit or miss. And The Dark Souls games are some of my favorite games of any generation. If you haven’t tried those they are kind of the peak of action role playing. If you don’t check any new games out please check out the Dark Souls series.

J

@bob- I think I over-generalised a bit there. You’re right about The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls/Bloodborne. The Witcher 3 makes me want to take long walks in the countryside thanks to the gorgeous graphics, and I’m frankly in awe of the depth of storytelling/lore (and the way that the game mechanics play into same) in Dark Souls/Bloodborne. Another thing I love about Dark Souls is the that player skill is such a massive part of the game (which is shown in some of the frankly mind-boggling speedruns I’ve seen!)

@ar47- What’s the Bard Fireplace? Do you mean the Haer’Dalis sidequest? Is there some special content if your PC is a Bard? I’ve never run through BG as a Bard before.

A

@JDU44 yep Haer’Dalis’ quest. I believe there was some extra content there if a bard. I did all classes and believe each had it’s own content. Except Sorcerer (my fav playthrough) which I believe you have to have ToB installed to play, that just mirrors Mage if I recall correctly

J

@ar47 Sorcerers were amazing! I don’t think I ever played a (single-class) mage again after they were introduced in BG2.

And I loved the original Deus Ex too. Also a big fan of all the old-school Lucasarts stuff. Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle and the first three Monkey Island games were all incredible, I get such a sense of nostalgia when I see them being played today.

B

Bought Red Dead Redemption 2. It looks amazing on the Xbox One X and it IS a good game but, I don’t know…I just don’t get the urge to play it. It hasn’t grabbed me in the same way that say Fallout 4 or Forza Horizon 4 did/have. Think I’m going to trade it in while it’s still worth something. Saw all the controversy about the BIG NEW DIABLO ANNOUNCEMENT being a bloody pay to win mobile game and it made me disappointed and itching to play Diablo 3 again all at the same time, so that’s what I’m doing this week. I’ve got it for the PS4 but picked it up cheaply on the Xbox as well to play with friends online. I love that the Xbox version tracks how many monsters you’ve killed!

A

Got a little Civ6 time in recently. Playing as Australians on a standard Earth map where all the civs start in their appropriate areas. Ghandi declared war on me of course. The game is very similar to Civ5 but that’s OK in my book. Anyone do the Fallout beta? Hear about it from a friend. He was very positive about it but I’m concerned about the game being a Fallout version of Elder Scrolls Online, which was more WoW than Elder Scrolls in my opinion.

N

Playing Breath of the Wild and Smash Bros on the Switch

M

I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 since it came out.

I first did a mad-dash through the main story line.  It’s an extremely in-depth story.  I loved it.

Now I’m doing a slow meander through the game and basically avoiding the main story line so I can have freedom from bounty hunters and Pinkertons as I explore the map.  This game is HUGE, and it’s filled with the unexpected.

I found a Sawsquach (Samsquanch to yall Trailer Park Boys fans.) skeleton on top of a mountain.

I was mauled (and killed) by the biggest Grizzly I’ve ever seen while poking around in a poets cabin.

I broke into a cabin that had two dessicated corpses of children in it with a note from their mom saying she would be back in a couple of days.

Some creepy swamp rat invited me into his shack for a meal and he hit me in the back of the head with a club, and I’m pretty sure he molested me based on the sounds while I was blacked out.  I came to in a field a ways from his shack.  I went right back and used Dead-Eye to slo-mo empty both of my pistols into his face.  Sixteen rounds to the face left it hamburger.

I drank some mysterious brew from a witches cauldren and had another black-out.  (I don’t think anything disturbing happened that time.)

I found a UFO cult that committed suicide (Like the Heaven’s Gate cult).

Currently I’m in the process of exploring every building on the map.  I’m about 2/3rds done.  I no longer ride my horse, but I do take it with me everywhere to carry animal skins and pelts.  Walking everywhere and regular use of eagle-eye has opened up the world to me.

RDR 2 is the best game I’ve played since Fallout 4.

S

From october to last days, I have been playing AC Odyssey, RDR2 and Marvel spiderman Have you tried it? Do you like it?

S

edit

B

persona 5 right now and it’s pretty awesome if you like that type of thing. It’s a hybrid of visual novel and rpg with a little more strategy then usual in jrpgs. When you go into a dungeon if you leave you have to go the next day and it’s super linear and you have so many days (more then enough to do it safely) so each run you want to actually be preped for so it’s not wasted.

N

Bioshock 1

B

Bioshock the game that proved beyond any doubt that you can make a shooter more interesting with a story and weird mechanics.

A

Once in a while I get a little time to play BFV (PC). Great game

B

I tried playing Pillars of Eternity but I have to download a patch and that’s a pain in the ass with one phone line in the apartment. I liked the game so far but I hate broken games that need a patch to play. Oh ps4 version cause I don’t play games on the computer as much cause of the interruptions from the girlfriend needed to use the computer or not having anything to do while I play games.

N

Super Mario Odyssey on the Switch

B

downloaded the Patch for Pillars and if you get the complete edition on PS4 and it’s much better once it’s fixed. Now the one issue is that they have little nods to the backers and one can’t help but wonder if they’ll be able to figure out if they can figure out which ones are for backers they know ;).

A

@bob what like mine? that reminds me I should do a revisit of Wasteland 2. Also I will trade the still-shrink wrapped collector kickstarter game box for SNUFFS I’m still sneaking in 10-20 minutes a day of BF4 where I can, but most times it’s 2 minutes of play, followed by a phone call, and then returning to a screen that says I’ve been disconnected for being idle too long

B

Wasteland 2 until I got a really annoying game ending bug. Right at the damn end of the game. Though dug the first one

B

Ive been playing a lot of wargroove with some buddys lately

W

The original Mass Effect.  I got about halfway through a couple years ago, but got distracted by other games.  I’m fuzzy on the story, so I decided to start over as a female Shepard.  Just as fun as I remember!

N

Breath of the Wild - Master Mode

R

Currently geekin the heck out of divinity 2…I like to revisit these old classics.

K

Whatever my bad hands allow me to play. Today it’s Steep and Rust, both Steam and PC.

A

Insurgency Sandstorm but I only get a chance to play every couple weekends

R

Beat divinity 2 and the expansion, now going for Two worlds and/or Gothic 2.

A

@Rogue I liked Gothic 2 quite a bit. It’s clunky all around by today’s standards but I liked it enough to get the first and third ones afterward

R

@ar47 same. I got the entire series.

S

I’ve been really into Anthem.

B

So SnuffyT7 you’re saying don’t listen to the noise of the average gamer who complains online. that is actually good advice

S

Warzone on the Iphone- more of a strategy than a video game. This game is tailor-made for anyone wanting to hone their strategic thinking- very engrossing and constructive.

A

Been really enjoying Deus Ex Mankind Divided when I can sneak in an hour here and over the last few weeks

N

Replaying Ocarina of Time on the WiiU

A

@n9inchnails I’m jealous! I can’t find my N64 cartridge or I’d be playing that with the kids

N

If you have a Wii or a WiiU you can download it from the eshop. Its not on the Switch eshop yet.

B

Red Dead 2 and man I hated the first one the second one is awesome. Even if I spend most of my in game time hunting animals and plants and just digging the landscape.

H

Rome Total War Counter Strike 1.6

K

The first Prinny game for the PSP, I’m shitting myself over the last boss but it’s fun anyway. It’s like a quirky game with anime tiddies and a high difficulty, like Megaman.

T

I’m playing through Eviternity, a mod for the original Doom. That’s my fix for now.

R

Beat all campaigns as both sides with expansions for battlefield 1942. Took a trip down a nostalgic lane. Now playing battlefield 2.

N

Links Awakening on the Switch

A

Deus Ex Mankind Divided still, and loving it. 1440p and all the settings cranked to the max, it’s both fun And beautiful it used to be that the cut scenes were the best graphics in a game, now they’re the worst!

A

Mount and Blade warband with the litdum diplomacy mod. When I first started warband back in june laid up with an injury it was like falling in love with video games as a ten year old again. Fantastic. been playing it all summer but could use a new video game mistress at some point.

A

@aguineapig such an awesome game, and Diplomacy mod is a pure improvement. I also strongly suggest Brytenwalda mod, which is a mega-mod (total game replacement) set in what’s now the UK a couple hundred years after the Roman’s left

A

It’s one of the best games I’ve played for sure. Up there with morrowind, but I enjoy warband’s low fantasy setting.

If anyone has any suggestions for inexpensive, low system requirement RPGs in a similar sort of setting, I would be forever in your debt. I’d like to get a better system to run games on now that I remember how much fun it is, but right now I’m still stuck with a HP stream. Morrowind runs good on it, and warband.

B

https://www.gog.com/ worth checking out for older games. I think you might dig this @aguineapig

A

Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II. There are “enhanced editions” (rip offs of free community mods released for profit) but if you’re up for a chore you can get the originals and mod them much better. With the Big Mod you can combine both games and expansions into one contiguous 1000 hours of enjoyment

N

@aguineapig - many low system req games available! Just check YouTube. I would recommend Deux Ex (the original one). You won’t forget me for that recommendation. I’m playing PUBG mobile now. Being one of the first multiplayer games I’m playing, it’s pretty much fun, despite I die a lot.

A

Does any of yiz know much about external CD roms? They just plug into the usb input I guess. I still have all my games from childhood that I’m sure would run on this budget laptop, if the external drive worked.

A

@aguineapig read up on DosBox. I believe I got MadDog Mcree to work on a USB CDROM. I even programmed a Motec computer on a racecar with it using USB to serial emulation. Regarding the original Deus Ex - OH HECK YES! But make sure to use the Shifter mod and DX9/10 mod

R

@aguineapig I have I cheap $20 one from ebay, I can post some pictures if you want but its nothing special.

you are right though, it just plugs into the usb input, put your disc in and your computer loads it up. no real setup or anything, just plug in, insert disc and you’re good to go. I think at most there may have been a driver installed. You just want to have it on a flat surface and not move it around a lot while its in use, mine has stopped reading the disc a few times when I have gotten up to move my laptop for example. A more expensive one might not have that problem though, mine is old and cheap

H

Sometimes I play Solitaire and sometimes I play Chess.

Nothing that serious anymore…

Zero-K, a great free multiplayer RTS on Steam

H

I dont play no video games anymore.

I let my son learn how to play chess. We are still at the basic moves of the figures until now. But he is doing fine so far.

M

Axiom Verge and a modest assortment of retro platformers that I downloaded.

J

I have been playing The Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall the unity version NON stop for the past few weeks. With some oblivion and morrowind here and there. I love elder scrolls so much.

N

Last of Us 2 on PS4

A

@JustinWizard707 what in the world do you mean, Unity version of Daggerfall? … ?!? … Well there goes my summer nights! (replayed TES II a few years ago, held up but would love a modern engine) Been playing Raft with my son and we’re having a blast. It’s a survival building game where you’re stranded on a raft in the ocean

M

I’ve downloaded the updated AC4: Black Flag for xbox one.

Hands down it’s the best pirate game I’ve ever played.  I’m not so interested in doing the missions, though they are well thought out and fun.  I’m just drinking whiskey and sailing around looking for ships to plunder whilst singing sea chanteys with my sailors.

Yep, learning ancient chanteys is a definite plus for me, but my wife doesn’t see it that way so I play the game when she isn’t around.

Fallout New Vegas. I preordered and did a 3 play through completionist marathon when it came out 10 years ago. Replaying it now for the first time since then. A few hours into Euro Truck Simulator 2 and I’m pretty sure I’m hooked.  Why is driving the speed limit to Dusseldorf with a trailer full of sheep stomachs appealing?  I don’t know, but I recommend it, particularly with wheel/pedals/shifter.

T

Playing Blood Fresh Supply. A great retro shooter/horror game that pioneered the genre. Worth the $10 on Steam.

S

Genshin impact mobile

W

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 on PC.

Great plataformer in the vein of the old Castlevania but with a twist, very fun if you like 8bit NES plataformers, very well measured difficulty, various characters, retro graphics & music.

It is produced by Koji Igarashi that previously produced various Castlevania games for Konami so the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

N

LoZ Skyward Sword HD on the switch, motion controls arent nearly as smooth as on the Wii version. You have to reset the gyro constantly.

S

Work buddy talked me into starting an MMO, Guild Wars 2. (Free to play, came out in 2012) I didn’t think I had another ‘collect 10’ type of game in me, but I’m playing it through an IV drip lately.

Counter Strike

B

I’ve put a few dozen hours into Lord of the Rings Return to Moria. Very fun survival game, plays similar to Conan Exiles if anyone is familiar. I really like building my bases but it can be hard sometimes because it’s not like minecraft where you can build midair, everything has to be grounded or it will fall apart, and the system doesn’t always seem to be logical with how it grounds your objects.

Another game I play for fun is HyperBox, very gory indie shooter game, but if you’re someone like me that enjoys shooting physics it’s very fun.

I love playing older games, too. Been playing Counter Strike Condition Zero for fun, seeing if I can be all the maps with bots. Also trying out the Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition for the first time. I usually like playing Morrowind but after beating it like 4 times in a row a few months ago I got kind of burnt out.

C

I’ve just been back through Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, because I hate myself.
I might revisit Fallout New Vegas next - although I keep meaning to get stuck in to some RPGs I’ve not played before: Divinity 2, Tales of Arise or Horizon Forbidden West.

B

@Clem Ah man, Souls games… I always get the itch to start one, then I end up getting frustrated and putting them away until the itch returns. The only one I ever made progress with was Dark Souls, never could get deep into the others for some reason.

C

Elden Ring is perhaps the most accessible - tried and tested Souls formula but it doesn’t lock you in to quite the repetitive grind of its predecessors - arguably closer to Skyrim than Dark Souls.
Dark Souls 3 is perhaps the most accessible of the actual Souls games for similar reasons (though still quite linear).
Furthering the anxiety thread, playing the Souls games helped me gain a lot of patience lol

P

Being playing The Finals, must admit it’s being the most fun I’ve had in a multiplayer game in a very long time!

S

I just beat Windwaker again, possibly might play Twilight Princess next. Not too sure what I’m going to start on next.

N

Just beat Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on PS5. Its a broken piece of crap, cut scenes in missions dont start half the time and you have to reset the game to get it working and do the mission again and hope the cut scene starts up at the end. I have wasted so much time running around wondering what I’m supposed to do next when I have already done everything and the damn cut scene didnt start up like it was supposed to. I still have 3 side missions I cant complete because the broken game wont let me.

B

I’ve bought Skyrim again for probably the 7th time…

I was modding it on PC, but kept running into issues, so I gave up and bought it on my PS5 since it was on sale and the Creation Club has lots of mods now.

I’m satisfied with it so far. The main draw is the performance on the PS5; buttery smooth, even in areas like Riften which are notoriously low FPS and crash-heavy.

The creation club mods are fun as well, I never liked heavily modding my games, just some survival mods and maybe a couple houses or armor replacers, and the Creation Club has all that. I got the Tundra Homestead outside Whiterun which is a very cool and cozy home. And of course I’m playing on Survival Mode which is how the game should have originally released!

U

Dragon Throne : Battle of red cliffs

B

I beat Cyberpunk 2077 last night. Took about 16 hours from start to finish, I didn’t do a ton of side quests.

I would rate the game as solidly good. It’s not amazing, it’s certainly not bad, just a good game to play. The world is done very well and feels very dystopian. The gunplay is fun (especially if you blast people with a double barrel shotgun like I did) and there is enough variety of dialogue options to give you very different playthroughs which helps with replayability.

I’m going to do another playthrough of the game but play very differently to see how different it feels.

B

After beating Cyberpunk for the third or fourth time it’s made me want to revisit Mass Effect. I started the Legendary Edition last night and it’s so much fun.

R

Enlisted, but on xbox… I imagine it being way better on PC.

N

Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5

C

Helldivers 2 - I’m not normally entertained by shooters but this is a lot of fun!

C

I shall have to give Cyberpunk a go soon - I bought it ages ago, started the tutorial and then got distracted.

B

@Clem It’s a pretty fun game. Story isn’t too long, if you just focus on the main missions it’ll take around 10-12 hours to complete. Strong adult themes throughout the game so fair warning if you don’t like that sort of thing.

I mostly replayed to try out the different playstyles and endings. Story’s good, though.

C

Pokemon TCG. Its not bad – trying to learn so I can play in person.

C

I went to visit friends last night - I set Cyberpunk to download before I left so I could start again when I got home.
On my return, I found that the kids had swapped out my PS5 for the Xbox (I need an HDMI hub), so I started Starfield.

B

@Clem lol nice. No xbox for me and I still have to upgrade my PC so haven’t gotten into Starfield yet. Did play a little at the in-laws a year ago or so.

C

I’ve got a pretty decent PC, but no GPU and no funds to get a GPU which won’t choke my Ryzen 7 7700X As yet, but it’s mostly a PC for digital audio work, so it’s not a bad thing. I have a laptop which plays Elite Dangerous just fine, so that takes care of those needs lol

It’s only an Xbox One, so I’m cloud streaming Starfield using that - which might be an option for your PC maybe?
I don’t want to get in to anything too deep right now as I’m waiting for the Elden Ring DLC so I can start a fresh build and try the new stuff.

B

Been playing a few new (to me) games:

Stellaris. Haven’t played many Grand Strategy games but loving this one when I have time to play. It seems complicated to get into but when you actually start everything is pretty straightforward.

Vampire Survivors. This one’s a bit of a sleeper hit. I’d never heard of it before, but wanted a roguelike/roguelite game to play for fun. This one is simple, but very addictive. Hordes of enemies swarming you, and gaining more passive abilities and weapons to take them out. Once you get to the end of a stage there are thousands of enemies around you and you’re just a circle of death that they can’t touch. Unlockable ability upgrades, dozens of unlockable characters, different game modes and stages… So simple but so fun, and it’s only like $4. I bought it yesterday and already have about 10 hours on it (sorry wife).

C

The Dark Picture supermassive games. Beautifully rendered environments spooky plots, very good writing. They are choose-your-own-adventure kind of games (like “Life is Strange”, but with some real teeth).

Good games, You should try the quarry. I’m currently playing through Resident Evil,MK1 & Street Fighter 6. Just waiting for Alone in the dark for series x xbox. Can’t beat some horror or beat’em up’s

My Favourites to name a few.

Resident Evils
Metal Gears
Dino Crisis 1,2
Onimusha
Silent Hills
Mortal Kombats
Street Fighters
Cods
Battlefields
Assasins Creeds
Fallouts
Skyrim

We should get some game pictures posts up. I sold a lot of my stuff only xbox360 - xbox xgames now. Retro I use to have many nes, dreamcast, megadrive, master system and so on. Love games from many platforms

Fallout 4. Too.

W

Days Gone on PC, Nice mix in open world style of The Walking Dead & Sons of Anarchy.

Biting my nails off waiting for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 to come out, I have been waiting it for a looooooooong time.

B

@Wulfensteinsson LOVE Days Gone, great game. You may also like Mad Max (2015) if you haven’t played it already, a definite sleeper title.

W

I have read good things about that Mad Max game, when I have some time I will try to give it a go.
Thanks for the recommendation @BarlimanButtersnuff !

C

I’ve been taking a break from AAA games in favour of smaller and/or indie games: I jumped in to Dredge after finishing Dave the Diver and I found both games to be excellent.

I had been holding out for the Elden Ring DLC, but found my appetite somewhat waning after getting the platinum trophy, all endings and some bonus challenges.

I’m not entirely sure what to play next - title or genre: do I go for survival/building titles like Frostpunk and Terraforming Mars, return to the Horizon saga with Forbidden West or something else entirely?

B

@Clem You could play Factorio and forget that time exists… I’ve been wanting to pick up that game, just waiting for a sale

C

That has been suggested before - time I listened!

C

@115 Love me some Silent Hill and Skyrim. And dark pictures is coming out with a space themed game I think later this year. Just got done with The Quarry – it was excellent.

If you or anybody else has suggestions for choose-your-own-adventure (like the cinematic button tapping ones, if you know what I mean) titles or series, I’m all ears!

You could try. As dusk falls good game. Can’t think of any others but you might want to look out for Untill Dawn is was on the ps4 but it’s coming to xbox series x and one.

I’m waiting for some silent hills to come out. SH2 and the new ones and hopefully some more resident evil remasters, Maybe Code Veronica or 0 and hopefully one day Dino Crisis 1 & 2.

B

@clsmoothie did you ever play the Telltale’s Walking Dead series a few years back?

C

Just bought it! Thanks. …and yes i still buy games from used bookstores sometimes…

B

Excited about the new Traveller’s Rest update that just came out!

If anyone likes Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, then Traveller’s Rest is right up your alley. It’s the same cozy-sim genre but you play as a tavern keeper; running the bar, waiting tables, lodgings, while also exploring the world to mine, fish, etc… Great fun and the game just had its City update which adds a whole new city area with characters, vendors and a mail system.

Just installing the new Alone in the dark. Hopefully it’s good. Itching for the Silent Hill 2 remake and F, I need to go back there, Mary is waiting there, in our special place…

The Traveller’s Rest update was quite fun and definitely was a big step in catching the game up to others in the genre.

Lately I’ve been playing Runescape 3 quite a bit. Seems odd to say, how long ago I used to play it, but I’ve been needing an MMO I can work at on my own pace. The questing is fun, the skilling is easy to do while I listen to youtube videos, and I’m able to get up and help with whatever dad-chores are needed.

I also bought The Stanley Parable. If anyone’s looking for a humorous, easy-to-play game where you walk through an ever-changing workplace and everything you do is narrated by a snarky British man, then I highly recommend it!

P

I played snake on my phone while on the john the other day.

N

Snake got me through boring high school classes, back then it was the only game on phones.

If anyone enjoyed the Gameboy Advance SP, the emulator handheld company Anbernic released a Gameboy Advance SP handheld this year that plays everything from Atari to Playstation 1.

I’ve been playing around with it the past few days and it’s very good. They’ve improved their software to the point where the system is just power-on-and-play. Comes with a library of about 4,000 games and the thing is built very well and looks practically identical to the original SP.

I’ve been playing Pokemon Pinball on the john and having a blast

C

I’ve been rocking one of these for a little while (I have the faux wood style Gameboy model).
On top of the excellent retro game collection, it also runs a Linux distribution which can be used as a low spec computer - I’vd connected a Teensy board to mine and can run it as a full fledged DIY edition of a tracker/sequencer called the M8.

Additionally, you.can connect controllers to it and relive some glorious games from yesteryear!

P

Nokia 110, brochacho. Call, text, snake.

C

Sea of Thieves.
So far, utter shite - but my son seems to love it and not many ways of spending engaging time with his teenage self.

C

Tekken 8. Pretty interesting beat-'em-up with a story.

T

Cards of the undead on youtube, strangely addictive.

B

Abiotic Factor. Imagine Half Life 1 but it’s a survival game. Pretty fun game, very imaginative

N

Cult of the Lamb on the Switch, its 50% off so gave it a try

C

Sinking City. Another HP Lovecraft inspired game. Much, much better than Call of Cthulu.

Mystery, fetch quest, and guns – kind of GTA style.

B

Cyberpunk 2077 (friggin masterpiece now)

, and 7 days to die (new console versionFINALLY!. A zombie survival game. Like Minecraft meets walking dead lol)

C

Hellblade 1 & 2.

Both amazing psych horrors set in the Ancient Nordic world.

I have yet to still play these have both. I will get round to them at some point

Space Marine 2. Very fun game, though not a lot of content currently. Singleplayer is good (though the “recommended” difficulty is not well balanced at the moment).

Multiplayer is a lot of fun but also needs some serious balancing patches, the multiplayer reminds me of the days of Halo 3, casual multiplayer that’s easy to play a match or two without having to sweat. But some of the class balance is very off so that gets frustrating. Also frustrating when you join a game where your team is losing 10-190… Also there’s only three multiplayer maps right now. Three Maps??

Co-op is the main replayable piece of the game. Co-op is a great time, all of the classes feel interesting, executions are awesome, customization is very thorough. Though like I mentioned earlier about content being dry, there’s only six co-op missions. So even though this is what most players will be doing, they’re just going to be running the same six maps over and over again.

There’s also quite a few bugs, especially around matchmaking. Your game will soft-crash or get stuck in loading screens quite often. And the parry mechanics are… interesting. The small enemies you can parry instantly as soon as your screen flashes, but the bigger enemies require a flash of the screen and a timing of their animations to successfully parry. Not sure if that’s a bug or intentional, but it’s very jarring and incredibly annoying to learn when you first start the game. You’d think the parry system would operate the same way for all enemies.

It’s a very fun game, but may be worth waiting half a year for some more content to release and patches to balance things. I bought the game before release so I’m committed at this point, but I’m waiting for their end-of-month balance patch to come out before putting more hours into it.

In its first month of release, I’d give it a 6.5 / 10. It’s currently an above-average game that will be great once they iron out the bugs, balance some of the mechanics and release more content. I almost want to give it a 7 but the issues do hold it back.

@115 The first one (even though some of the puzzles are maddening and you might have to go to youtube for some of the solutions) might be one of the best games I’ve played in a long time. Love the concept and the theme.

Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC - So far a very good game, very detailed world, mountains, beaches, forests, roads, you name it… the graphics are stunning!

The combat mechanics are greatly influenced by Assassin’s Creed (push combinations of buttons in a given moment of the combat) and several combat styles to upgrade and master.

The world has plenty of stories and places to discover so it seems that I will be residing in feudal Japan for a long time…
