Is there anything that can be done with stale scotch snuff? I bought a giant tube of Bruton’s from Food Lion but the seal was bad and it is very very stale. I’m thinking of doing some scenting experiments with it if nothing else, but is there any possible way of bringing it back to life without that? I love Scotch snuff just the way it is honestly. When my fancy shmancy British snuffs get a little stale usually a couple of drops of water livens them up but I don’t know if there’s anything I can do with something that’s bone-dry as it is.
Regrinding with a little distilled water can help. A little at a time is best to avoid mold. A rosewood mortar and pestle would be awesome. Olive wood or other fragrant woods will work too.

Thanks, I’ll try that tomorrow or the day after (trying to finish off this Toque Blueberry before it loses what’s left of its scent). I’ll let you know how it goes!
If you have a cigar humidor, it would work. If not, put a moist sponge in a tupperware dish (with lid) and have your snuff in a separate open container inside. Put this in the fridge and see how fast it hydrates
If you like it smokey you can hydrate with liquid smoke ,By direct contact or osmosis .Same stuff used to make jerky
Just rehydrate with pure water.
Good evening, @Basement_shaman What exactly is meant with ‘osmosis’. The type with semipermeable memranes (as in vegetable cells) or just storing the substances closely together (as in hydrating in tupperware with wet sponge). Or a third method, as in distributing the snuff in a circle on blotting paper, leaving the center of the circle free. Then apply essential oil to the center, without making direct contact with snuff. Dissipation through the paper will scent the snuff without mixing it with carrier substances. I have used perfumes in this manner with interesting results. Thanks for your information and best regards Patrick B. Ludwig

Good evening, @ Matthefox Thank you for uploading the video. I will check it out, as soon as I have access to a decent computer. My iPad simply refuses to play it … I am close to grinding the apple into snuff Best regards Patrick B. Ludwig
My iPad plays it…
It could just be the browser being used Just a thought
I ran some through a coffee grinder with a small amount of distilled water. It helped but this snuff is definitely just past its prime. I think I’ll end up using much of it for scenting experiments.

That’s a possibility. I use Photon, rather than the Safari browser that came with the IPad, and it plays videos just fine.
add a drop booze to it. That’s what I would suggest.
I am new to snuff have some ozona in the mail but the only snuff that was available where I live is WE Garret&sons sweet. anyone had any experience with this… example every time I take a sniff I end up exhaling a puff of brown stuff. haha … have tried the tips and suggestions like boxcar tecnique. adams apple drop etc… I tried water but it ruined the taste and wonderfull smell. you would all have laughed your asses off watching a beginer experiment with scotch im positive I had to laugh at myself. I will try the tupperware and sponge sounds logical. any particular kind of booze work better?
Good morning, Gentlefolk The Video does work on Google Chrome. It seems, that I will just have seek alternatives, and send the Apple on a Safari of no return … Great Video, thanks a lot. Regards Patrick B. Ludwig

Blowing out a cloud of brown is typical IME with scotches, or really anything fine cut. Usually after inhaling the snuff I pinch my nose to try to press as much snuff as possible onto the sides, then hold up my handkerchief and exhale slowly to get rid of any excess, then wipe my face of any smudges. Glad you like Garret, I haven’t tried the sweet, does it have that cocoa/chocolatey undertone that the scotch does? Garrett Scotch is definitely one of my all-time favorites.
yes I agree that it has a cocoa taste to it. I have been like a kid experimenting… chocolate toffe with a sniff, black coffee and a sniff, beer with a sniff. I must say that it has made all experiences a little tastier. would like to try some good coffee and humidify a bit. ideals keep coming lol
