What tin did you Open today?

K

Sorry Xander, I copied you a little but I thought it would be a nice topic.

K

I’ll bite. I opened a tin of WoS Rum & Blackberry about an hour ago.

C

I cracked open a Lime Toast tin earlier.

X

@ kidnapper: no worries. Nothing new opened here though.

O

Great thread idea Just opened a new-to-me snuff (most are of course!) WoS Cinnamon mmmm…, gentle. Good with the morning coffee.

C

Toque SP Extra here… I’m afraid this one isn’t gonna last long!

N

Do samples count? I just opened a sample of Bon Bon that Jaap Bes sent me.

K

Sure samples count, maybe even a tin or can of snus, pipe tobacco, dip, whatever you opened up and enjoyed today : )

S

@ Carol quote:- “I cracked open a Lime Toast tin earlier.”
How can you crack open a tin?

I’ve just opened another large tin of McC’s O&G for my morning sniff.

L

I just opened a new 25g Lime Toast tin and transferred some contents to my TripleTech box and a 10g Lime Toast tin. The flavor of this fresh tin is amazing compared to the old 10g tin I just finished (although it really hadn’t faded too much).

O

Bernards Zwiefacher Another one for the win column for sure

O

Still working through and sampling from my last order. Makes for lots of new tins to open. WoS Royal George

E

A 1 lb box of SG Best Brown Flake

C

Sounds more like a crate!

E

It’ll keep my pipe going for a while, that’s for sure!

R

A sample of Jaap´s Bon Bon and a 1/2 pound drum of WoS´s Tom Buck.

A

Wilsons of Sharrow Royal George, my first of kind. Weird candy shop there!

O

Hey Allan, I tried the Royal George for the 1st time a couple days ago. Saw one comparison to redhots candies on snuffreviews, bout right. This is a fun one to break a routine with!

A

@OTD Yes, must admit Royal George is great fun and pleasure. Had a couple of pinches and smelled dozens of different scents and flavours and my head is spinning. This is what snuff is about.:-S

S

Recieved it a week or so ago, but only opened it today. Toque Cherry. Really great stuff! The cherry is that of actual cherries, not the sort sweet flavour you get.

T

Dr.Rumney’s Mentholyptus Pure Tobacco Snuff - made by Illingworth’s Snuffs Ltd Kendal. (England) - The funny thing is that it still has all of it flavor and kick - from the 1960’s

V

GH Dry Orange and GH Camphor Menthol

O

Toque Berwick Brown As many of you have said, it is a pleasant change up for the Toque line.

O

W

Opened for the first time ever just today (because I managed to forget them before in all my huge order sampling): Navy Plain Ralph’s Square just re-opening and really testing out more that have only barely been opened before (what DIDN’T I open would be easier to answer lol but here’s just a few I can think of but there were plenty more): Rangeeli Babaton Blue Dholakia Sparrow (the green, non menthol one) WoS Irish High Dry Toast #22 WoS Irish High Dry Toast #20 (sampler smashbox) FUBAR shot of Rum Toque Toast & Marmalade Toque Quit Toque Original

M

Opened up my first tin of O&G! Loving it, too!

S

Just the Macouba from my latest order, I’m not going to bother opening the rest just yet as I have quite a few open tins already. I’ve got a bit of F&T Seville which is about 6 months old now and I’m almost choking to death trying to finish it off, but one must take ones medicine

Today I opened the vintage tins I won on ebay a few weeks ago. The JH Wilson ones were described as from the 1960s. The celophane was intact, but was not doing anything to keep them airtight. It was just loosely wrapped around them. These snuffs were well dried out and I can smell no flavors (except a bit in the Rose). They actually don’t seem much dryer than the snuff than the modern tins of this I have! However, two other snuffs from Illingsworth (seller says are from 1970s) in round tins were sealed well. They had tape around their seams and it was still very sticky. Both are moist and seem quite fresh inside with good strong medicated scents. I have tried both so far (Kenglow and K67) and Kenglow I like better, its very moist and has a strong eucalyptus flavor. I’m not a great lover of menthols, but these two were pretty nice. Theya are giving me a case of PMRC (Paradoxical Menthol Rebound Congestion) at the moment though.

J

PMRC (Paradoxical Menthol Rebound Congestion) I’d like to use that if I can remember it. A good scotch works well as a PMRC remedy. There I used it.

X

Ok, I want a nickel everytime someone uses it. Nah, its free for use of all!

O

A small tin each of WoS Rose and Lavender. Nicely done floral scents, not overpowering but not understated either. I don’t really get any tobacco from either of them but they both seem to be good candidates for late night relaxation when calm is desired.

N

Ludwig Sternecker Echt Fresko and Poschl Perlesreuter Waldler Fresco

L

Just opened WoS Camphor&Mild, Toque Lime Toast and WoS Best SP

G

P

Replay Virginia. Not proud of that and VERY very much in two minds!..

S

Five Photo Raja #5! I bought Tom’s last stock (yes, I was that bastard)…

B

SM 500. Maybe the best menthol I’ve had.

M

Gletscher Prise, from my local convenience/cigar shop. I"m not the only person in my town buying this…I only go through 2-3 a year…wonder who else around here likes it…

S

When I bought this tap out box of Packard’s Club from my local store, the lady said its one of the more popular brands that she sells, but the Poschl Gawith Apricot was the most popular, I too am wondering who else uses snuff in my town.

B

WoS Wallflower and Royal George. Royal george is odd but nice (baby powder!?) and Wallflower smells nice, like violets. All in all pleased with my purchases.

J

Best Dark and Camphor Mild just opened, good stuff.

P

Toque rose. Nice stuff. Needs a little airing to calm it down, but can’t argue with the quality

B

Love my Toque rose!

J

A small tin of Toque Raspberry. Old stock, mild. I still have an unopened 25gm tin of this stuff. I’m hoping to put thirty years on it.

J

NTSU Black for me this morning. I’m still not sure if it’s better than Taxi Red, but I do like them both. I have to try the menthol and some other South African Brands now. That Camphor one that I think Venter’s makes looks delicious.

T

The Ventors was not bad, and way way better than NTSU and Taxi menthols, which I thought were rather bad.

G

De Kralingse Oranjesnuif

S

A tin of Altoid smalls. I thought the tin would be nice for a snuffbox, someone mentioned them here. Looking at the ingredients - yuccch. All chemicals and processed junk. Not even a sugar rush. These are going in the trash. The tin’s pretty nice though.

W

A big tin of SP100. Stefan

G

Viking Dark. Maybe not as good as V Brown, but still impressive through its simplicity, lovely grind and moisture level. Black velvet straightforward.

N
