What snuff did you buy in your local store?

P

For me it was 112.5 grams of wilsons sp100 12.5 grams of wilsons sm and a small tin of top mill. They do stock a few others as well and will order what you like although you have to buy quite a lot.

P

Our local guys only stock McC O&G, Taxi, Ntsu, Wilson’s Top Mill Menthol etc., all of them roughneck stuff except for the O&G.

X

Most shops here have nothing. One within walking distance has W.E. Garrett and Navy Sweet. One a little farther away has Tops Sweet, Carhart’s Choice, and Honey Bee. As I’m not keen on the sweet scotches, that gives me little choice. I can get about a dozen others, all scotches, if I go across town. Again its mostly sweets. Three Thistle Strong and Square Scotch are the only ones of those I’d get again. They have Superior, but only in large tubs. I’ve heard an “upscale” tobacconist has a few Pöschls, but I’m not interested in them. Its ones I’ve tried already and am not impressed with. I understand I have it better than most people in the US, which is a sorry state of affairs. I can get no English snuff at all, locally.

C

None, but I am still hunting the local Indian grocerys for snuff.

P

A pocket tin of W.E. Garrett sweet. Not much available locally.

P

It’s such a shame that more stores dont stock snuff. I’m sure that if more news agents stocked snuff they would sell it. In my town we have one shop a small tobacconists that has a small selection of snuff. If that goes i’m doomed. Surly places that sell tobacco could manage to stock a few variaties of snuff.

B

One store in my area has a few Scotches left. I bought at least one of all he had. Two shops carry a few Poschl, but that’s it. If I visit my Mom down south the selection of Scotches improves a bit. I found one shop that used to carry a few Wilsons, but they stopped due to lack of sales.

T

It’s been a while, but locally I have bought Bruton, Honest, WE Garret(regular and sweet), Red Seal, and Carhart’s Choice, these are at the local Kroger grocery. At a cigar shop, I have bought Ozona Spearmint, Packards Club, Gletcher Prise, and at an Indian grocery I got Madras, SS Rose, Himalaya, and IPCO(if that counts).

D

In brick and mortar stores I have acquired: RR Mills plain Navy Sweet Sweet as a Peach Tube Rose Gawaith Apricot WOS Menthol Plus WOS SP2 Some floral one, name escapes me. and while traveling to Wilmington NC: Ozana President Ken

B

Just Scotches here. Square, RR Mills Sweet, Navy Sweet, Society and Tube Rose.

R

only two so far ozona president and poschl silverstone orange+ too bad they stopped making the last one i quite liked it …

W

I can get O&G, Hedges Sp100, Top Mill and Medicated No.99 in a shop about 1 mile from me. Stefan

L

Only six: Gletscher Prise, Poschls MIX, Ozona Spearmint, Ozona Cherry, Ozona Raspberry and Gawith Apricot. Luckily i can get them from any tobacco and alcohol shop. Only tobacco shops are very rare thing here.

E

We can get a good range of WoS and GH snuffs in a shop about 1/2 mile from here. A little further away can be found J&H Wilson’s snuffs in the small blue tins. I guess we’re lucky.

N

My local tobacconist carries many snuffs. I have purchase McChrystals and some Fribourg Treyer from there.

R

oh i forgot to mention Samuel Gawith Apricot which is anything but apricot to my nose but it kinda grew on me lately… @ bipolarbear1968 how did you liked the Society Scotch ? i was thinking to get some with my next order… Ra.

B

@ra- I thought the Society was pretty good. It doesn’t have any of the smokiness that other scotches have. The only aroma I can describe of this is honey/brownsugar, but it’s more complex than that. Cstokes turned me on to it, and glad he did.

D

Great another Scotch on the “to order list” that I haven’t found locally yet. Ken

B

What is strange is the fact that NON of my local tobacconists carry nasal snuff. I can only find these at the local Food Lion (lol)

C

@devillock: I found the large thrift cans of Society in Wilmington, at a Lowe’s food on College Rd, right across from UNCW.

N

I’ve only been able to find McChrystal’s SP and Menthol locally, and I consider myself lucky to have found any snuff locally let alone McChrystals and in X-Large tins at that.

P

It seems that some of you guys have quite a good selection, i was thinking about my tobacconist and i think they stock about 7. Not much when you consider what’s out there. Wouldn’t it be nice if every town had a snuff bar where one could go and sample some snuff with a cup of coffee and then buy a few tins to take home.

D

@cstokes, really, thanks for the tip, next time I am down there, that store will be a mission. Ken

W

I have Society at the food lion in W.VA for $11.36 for the large can. Honey Bee is $12.87, Maryland is higher due to taxes. They have all kinds on small cans, superior, navy, society, peach.

M

I’ve been wanting to ask this even since I got my can of Starr–has anyone ever seen it for sale in a local store, and if so where? For some reason (maybe the graphics), it seems the most archaic of the American snuffs. Starr packs a great nicotine punch, but it’s so plain (almost flavourless) that I wonder if maybe its more of its users use it nasally as opposed to dipping it. Lorillard looks pretty archaic too, but the Lorillard company used to be very big so it probably isn’t AS obscure.

B

I can’t seem to find the Starr locally.

X

@ Mike B.: That’s Starr’s updated look. I have an unopenend vintage 1948 tin in my little collection. I’ll try to get a pic up in the next few days. Its actually “R. Starr & Co.” on the old tin, but the name is not as prominent as “Scotch Snuff 1st Quality.” It was owned by Helme even that far back. I have a feeing this is a very old brand. Sadly, this is one of the handful of scotches I’d like to be permanent members of my collection, but the only one that can’t be found locally. Maybe I can talk a shop into stocking it if they already carry some Helme/Swisher snuffs. I don’t think they mean Ringo and those other dudes.

S

I used to be able to get the non-schmalzler Pöschls, but I think that store is puling them once they run out. Aside from that, all I can get is Madras No 1. This is a three hour trip to make though. I usually just say screw it and order online.

W

I have never found Starr, or W.E. Garrett. Tons of Tube Rose.

G

I have never seen nasal snuff at any of the stores or tobacco shops here in Canada, either in the small towns near me, or in the big cities (I have looked in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal). I haven’t been to every shop of course, but I have visited big tobacconists, and none had nasal snuff. I believe that when I was a child (think early 70’s) in Edmonton, the local drugstore sold nasal snuff. It was likely to appease the many German immigrants living in my area (my parents were also German immigrants). In talking to my father, a significant number of German tradesmen back then used snuff, in addition to smoking a pipe. The people working at the German consulate in Edmonton at the time DEFINITELY used nasal snuff - my father reminded me that I actually saw the Consulate General taking snuff and asking him about it (when I was like 5 or something). That was a long time ago. So - nothing local. No online shops in Canada that I can find who sell snuff. I think shipping tobacco from province to province has been illegal in Canada for several years (like the provision in the new PACT thing in the US) so that really cuts down on online tobacconists. Regards, Geraldo

J

Just a few Poschls but that era is over.

C

Nada.

A

Most places in the UK don’t do a good selection, although you can come across the odd place that does. What we do have though is readily available J and H snuffs, most shops do the SP and 99.

A

Here in Dublin you can get McChrystal’s O&G, S’Nuff and Mild Lemon; Sam Gawith Kendal Brown Menthol, XX Menthol, Apricot and Aniseed; Wilsons SM. No Irish toasts, no SPs, no rappees etc. Sad state of affairs in a country, which was famous for its tobacco industry. Must be Perfidious Albion’s fault!

B

I would have thought that most of you across the pond can find the Toque available.

J

@ AllanH . i dont think there is a irish tobacco compamy left in ireland is there ? carrolls belongs to bat now i used to pick up a pack of carrolls extrasize the odd time ( kinda like a camel wide ) … maybe the peterson pipe tobacco is an irish company still ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carroll's . my local smoke shop has garretts . ozona spearmint and raspberry . 2 types of samuel gawith in the 10g tins with the old yellow labels ?

M

If I drove two hours, I could land some Garrett Sweet. They sell General Sample packs there, too, and Oliver Twists.

A

@jpsks Tobacco factories like Carrol’s and Gallaher’s are still here and produce cigarettes and pipe/smoking tobacco. Snuff and chewing tobacco are gone. Peterson’s and Fox’s of Dublin have their own pipe tobacco range.

M

Had the shock of my life yesterday when my friend who runs a local smoke shop stumbled upon some new old stock of Mc Chrystal’s in the red tap boxes. They were stored well and I got a few for free! No O&G unfortunately, but plenty of Clove, Highland Ice and Mild Lemon. Part of the reason, it seems, is that a few youngsters in my neighbourhood (I’m in my 40’s so 20somethings are kids to me.) have “discovered” Snuff.

K

WE Garrett, Levi Garrett, Dental mild, Red Seal sweet, Gawith Apricot, Packards Club, Gletscher Prise, Samuel Gawith cherry

V

Here in El Paso, Texas, tobacconists don’t know what is nasal snuff. Let me rephrase that: there are tobacco vendors here but no tobacconists.

P

A 1.15oz of Red Seal Sweet. I think that puts me up to 6 unopened cans and three partial- but i had to buy it b/c it was $3.15 and i am a horder of all things tobacco.

S

I can find a few Poschls at two or three local smoke shops, and some Ozona at at least one of those. Nothing special. If I drive into maryland (which I 15 minutes away from, until recently…now it would be a little bit longer) I could get a whole bunch of scotch and sweet snuffs and this one Food Lion. I actually went there once and got pretty much one of everything they had, except for their large tins. The woman at the counter had no idea what they were, and said they had been there since she started working there a few years ago. Ha. That was very exciting. ~Ken

A

Never seen Toque anywhere but online.

B

Speaking of Toque, I wonder how the FDA approval is going…

S

I’d like to see what they come up with for warnings for snuff. Perhaps this will lead them to do more research on it’s health effects? ~Ken

X

Hold your ground, Roderick. It seems as if their eyes are starting to open.

N

@Geraldo: There is a smoke shop on Granville in Vancouver that sells Polsch snuffs. They did the last time I checked, anyway — it was a few years ago. Other tobacconists said I couldn’t get it in Canada, but they are wrong. You have to look real hard, but it is available OTC in this country. I have only ever seen Polsch/Ozona, and its about $7 for 10g. Bought some in Kelowna once, too. Peace out.

G

@NelsonPipeClub - thanks for the tips! I never even tried in Kelowna. I was at City Cigar in Vancouver this past winter, and while they had an ok selection of pipe tobacco (for pretty big dollars), and an astounding selection of cigars (for even bigger dollars) they didn’t carry snuff. I’ll poke around next time I am in Kelowna. I have heard all kinds of stories from tobacconists about what I “can’t” get in Canada. One shop in Edmonton said I couldn’t buy Kreteks in Canada - - the shop just down the street was selling them, and said there weren’t any issues. At one of those franchise tobacco shops the clerk said I couldn’t buy Perique for blending, because it didn’t exist, and if it still did, it was illegal in Canada. Meanwhile they had blends that claimed to contain it…Ah, sigh. Best Regards, Geraldo

K

There are four newsagents on my road, Green Lanes Harringay (London), that sell snuff, my choices are Wilsons SP1, Wilsons 99, Hedges L260, McChrystals OG, Sughansaha Rose and Jai Hanuman.

A

@Khalid Your local variety is actually quite good, different types of snuff and all!

K

@ AllanH. Yes, not bad, for five minutes walk away. London is still a very good place to buy snuff in stores.

S

crusty WE Garrett sweet & mild crusty McChrystals O&G crusty ozona crusty SM 500 fair Poschl Apricot Reminds me, I think I gotta give some due love to Dave and Tom. THANK YOU!

S

@squarefiend- Are you in the US? That seems like quite a selection, if so…even if they are ‘crusty’. I have never seen O&G ANYWHERE in a brick and mortar shop. ~Ken

A

I stocked my medicated snuffs in town: XL McCrystal’s O&G, large tins of Sam Gawith Kendal Brown Menthol and Menthol XX, and small tin of S’Nuff, which I’m snuffin at Neary’s pub on Chatham street with a pint of Beamish.

S

@Snuffy - Didn’t think much of it myself considering the lots-o-thumbsup from this site, but yeah, Berkeley and Dublin. Got a warning from the young guy at Dublin too, “it’s gonna shoot past the back of your head,” I’m like, as dry as it was. Minor tin by the way, have finished a few XL’s since then.

O

I find poschl apricot in almost every tobacco shop. Often poschl coke and sometimes a few other poschls. I used to get w.e.garett at walmart but they no longer stock it. I have found w.e.garett in several tobacco shops also. I did find a bunch of Dean’s in the tobacco shop in Gurnee but I heard they no longer have them. For anything more than poschl apricot or w.e.garett I’d have to take the trip to downtown chicago to iwan ries. They have a few but not all of several brands. Takes me about an hour and a half to get there so I only go if I have other business in the city.

B

I’am still jealous of you onefor the road. I wish I could get to a store that sold any snuff at all. Used to be a few but now there are none. I’d take an hour and half trip to Chicago find something to do and load up on snuff and pipe tobacco, then the novelity would wear off and I’d need to have another primary reason to go.

N

It is cheaper to buy from Mrsnuff and now he is going to carry pipe tobacco. The best of both worlds, unless you just like Chicago.

O

Just remembered a few others. I bought some mcchrystal’s in the local head shop. Not local for me but in a head shop in SanDiego I bought some Lotzbeck Schmalzer, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen even at the online shops. The prices are quite high in any brick and mortar where I’ve found any snuffs. Not to mention transportation costs to get somewhere plus local taxes. Online is the way to go. The price is right and they have more variety. I think that goes for just about everything these days. Anything from toothpaste to boat anchors. I’m amazed at how much money you can save by buying on ebay or online stores if you can wait a couple days to get it. The other day I bought something on ebay for 99 cents with free shipping. Minimum charge to send someone an empty envelope should be more than that!

A

Another 5g tin of McChrystal’s S’Nuff and 10g tin of O&G. Needed some new tins so why not get them filled with snuff?

B

Good Ideal, AllanH!

A

XL tin of McChrystal’s O&G from Peterson’s.

B

2 cans of Tube Rose, 2 cans of Helme’s Square, 1 can of Helme’s Scociety and 1 can of RR Mills Sweet. I’m getting to the point that I like Tube Rose more than any toast that I’ve tried.

D

I have been using Tube rose cut with some Toque Peppermint on a regular basis lately. Ken

A

I agree on Tube Rose with bipolarbeardo here, it’s really pleasant snuff with real character!

N

Agreed, Tube Rose is an excellent sweet scotch in fact it is my fav. sweet. It use to be Honey Bee but now I find it too sweet to take regularly, I know only take HB when I want something really sweet, otherwise when the sweet tooth hits I reach for Tube Rose

X

I’m thinking Tube Rose and 3 Thistle Sweet are the only two sweet scotches I would buy again. Most of the rest are too sweet for me. Also Tube Rose I can find in the local stores. However, I’m not getting much actual tube rose scent from Tube Rose snuff. I intend to acquire some tube rose essential oil and see what I can do with it.

A

To be honest, I don’t detect any sweetness in Tube Rose at all but kind of musk, which is very nice for me nose.

N

Red Seal is not too sweet.

X

Ok, you are right Nachman. I forgot about Red Seal. I guess there are three sweet scotches that I would’d mind getting again. One from each of the big three US companies. Also Stokers Sweet is not over the top sweet, but I have a lifetime supply of that one.

A

Got XL tin of O&G and Sam Gawith Kendal Brown Menthol plus a small tin of S’Nuff from Peterson’s and Fox’s. I’ve given few tins to pagans lately, so had to stock me supplies.

S

My local tobacconist sells small tins of WoS SP100, SM500, Best SP and Gold Label and sells both the small boxes and large tins of J&H Wilson Top Mill and Medicated 99. A newsagent’s by my parent’s house sells McChrystal’s O&G in small tins and all three J&H Wilson snuffs in the small boxes alongside the cigarettes, unfortunately none of the staff that I have encountered there have a clue what it is when I ask for it so I have to prepare for a pantomime and weird looks from the other customers whenever I go in there.

A

Another XL tin of McChrystal’s O&G from newsagents. I’ve been giving some snuff samples to people and this far they’ve been happy. EDIT Doesn’t anyone else buy locally anymore? I’m kind of repeating myself here.

A

XL tin of McChrystal’s O&G from Fox’s of Dublin this time, they have ladies working there and I was looking for same nice flirt but unfortunately got an old man to serve me. He had a stylish suit though.

T

Around here (Wyoming) the best I can get is a can of Drum ciggarette tobacco, and make it my self. I think thats what really upsets me about the B.S PACT crap.

A

This was kind of temporary local store: got a roll of Grov OP and half rolls of Lucky strike OP and WP each from Arlanda, Stockholm airport.

S

Two Sneeze Boxes, but with very fresh Gawith Hoggarth C.M. inside. From the newsagents only 15 min walk from me. They will be opened, and decanted into one of my airtight containers.

X

Hurry, Snuff Head. They will turn to sneeze powder before you get home! 15 minutes is a long time for those.

P

A can of Red Seal to add to my hoard. That makes 7 unopened.

S

@ Xander it is now past summer, very cool and damp. I should be OK, LOL!

C

Just got some Tube Rose from my local grocery. Not too bad.

X

I found IPCO Creamy Snuff in the Indian market today, so I picked it up. Weird stuff.

S

Just saw this thread, but a few weeks ago I really scored. I stopped by an Indian smokeshop in northern Washington state and they actually had quite a few snuffs. The bonus was getting a big 5.58oz tin on Honest scotch for 4.00 usd.

X

Was it Lil Brown?

O

Friday while about an hour away from home I picked up a couple of cans of buttercup.

G

Lorillard Maccoboy

N

I got some W.E. Garrett at the grocery store the other day, but just today I was in North Austin and stopped at Pipe World. They are carrying Dean Swift snuff. I picked up a tin of the SP and After tasting it in the car, I ran back in and bought a tin of the Bezoar. I can’t believe how smooth the SP is, and the bezoar is a sweet blend of menthol and eucalyptus. I am officially hooked on Snuff. Now if my toque order would hurry up and get here, I would be rolling in it.

H

Not local to me, but I recently picked up WoS ‘Jockey Club’ and Polsch’s Lowen-Prise. Lovin’ 'em both, me hearties. Shub-a-lub. mmmm-mm

S

@Xander: I picked up a tub of creamy snuff (I believe it was a Bangladeshi brand, seeing as I was in a Bangladeshi grocer with almost no Indian stuff) a few months ago, and I don’t think I ever tried it. I just can’t get past the appearance of it. Looks like mud, and I can’t imagine that it tastes very good.

X

@ shikitohno: IPCO tastes something like Dholakia Manjul; a strong mint and clove flavor.

A

Got some more snus from Oslo airport this time: 5 can rolls of Roda Lacket loose and Goat Rape WP. Had forgotten Norway isn’t in EU, so got those tax free, which in Norway means human prices. I visited all Nordic capitals bar Copenhagen in less than a week and going back next week, hope to have some free time then.

X

Even Reykjavik? Don’t forget to look for Neftobak!

M

Mmm, that’s good goat rape!

A

@Xander Forgot that bankrupt island!

R

Just found some Poschl at Cavaliere Tobacco in Charlottesville, VA. I picked up spearmint. They also had raspberry, president, glecheir prise, and apricot. All small 5g tins with the hole on the side, and no ugly overbearing stickers. Must be pre-PACT.

X

Nothing to do with PACT. PACT is about trafficking, not labeling. All US distrubuted Pöschl products I have seen have only fine print health warnings on the reverse.

J

That’s the FSTPC act he’s talkin 'bout.

O

As always Poschl or W.E. This time W.E. Bought a few cans of W.E.Garett at the Jewel/Osco in Woodstock, IL the other day. Including tax I think it came to $4.09 per can. I know a few forum members aren’t too far from there. And at least one member is actually from there.

A

Medium tin of O&G from Fox’s of Dublin. Needed a new tin, so settled for a smaller than usual size. Didn’t get any snus this time from Sweden, almost missed the returning plane at Stockholm Arlanda airport and my plan was to buy more snus there. Luckily, I manage fine with snuff alone. Hope to have some time in Stockholm to visit Brobergs tobacco shop, they at least used to have great selection of snus and also some American dips and chews, well like in 1998 or something.

A

I’ve got good news from Dublin: Fox’s Tobacconist got a range of goodies from Wilsons of Sharrow; snuffs both Wilsons and Fribourg&Treyer, snuff boxes and hankies and everything is properly displayed, snuff tins in rack etc. Got little confused of this and bought me only 10g tins of Lemon Toast, Irish Toast #20, Honey Menthol and Irish Coffee plus customary XL McChrystal’s O&G. My favourites #22 and High Dry Toast were missing but could get those in next order. Should have communicated with staff more earlier but the shop is always quite busy, popular among tourists, so I didn’t push it. Anyway, I’m very happy about this development and going for a degenerate daytime drinking binge enjoying Lemon Toast, which is brilliant! Cheers!

U

Here in Germany only a few Poschls: Gletscherprise, Gawith Apricot, Alpina. How can it be, that they sell 70 or more different brands of cigarettes but only these few mainstream snuffs?

H

Strangely enough, my local SUPERMARKET sells Top Mill N0#1. Whenever I’m in there I’ll grab a box or two as my tobbaconist doesn’t sell it.

S

A scotch and Tom Buck. That was what they carried and prices were higher than what I have seen online.

H

Fat chance of finding snuff anywhere in upstate New York! I’m across the lake from Toronto. They carry spit snuff, but nothing for the nose. I might be able to persuade the owner of “The India House” (just down the street from me) to stock some Indian snuffs, I just need to try them out and tell him which ones I like. I spent a lot of money in that store when I was exploring Indian philosophy.

O

I live in the South and in TN to boot, so I can get most of the US snuffs here but no one carries European snuff or has even heard of it for that matter.

P

I picked up the following: FOOD LION 4.65 Peach Sweet 4.65 Square Scotch 4.65 Dental Scotch 1.15 Society Sweet 1.15 Tube Rose Sweet KROGER 1.15 W.E. Garrett Scotch x2 1.15 W.E. Garrett Sweet and Mild GOODSON’S 4.65 Superior Scotch 1.15 Bruton Scotch I FINALLY made it to Food Lion to scope out their selection. I was hoping to acquire some Rooster, Honest, Three Thistles Strong, RR Mills Maccoboy, Silver Dollar snuffs, and Dark Horse snuffs as well. Hopefully, they will be available in a couple months when I make my next 4-hr. snuff run.

W

Dear God a 4hr trip for snuff! I can’t get my head around the distances in America. 4hrs here you could be, from here anyway, at the Scottish borders, down in deepest darkest Wales, or way down south in England. I’m glad I can buy snuff physically nearly a mile away. I would never make a 4hr journey for snuff. I mean ffs in the UK that is the other end of the country, and you Yanks drive that for fun??? Strange lol. I am pissed at the minute, (Sorry Nigel!), but I don’t think a 4 hr trip for snuff would make sense sober. Definately shows dedication. Stefan

P

2 hrs each way actually. I am willing to drive it every couple months since the thought of buying American tobacco from a foreign source does not sit well with me. The trip time has as much to do with the mountainous and curvy road traveled as the distance involved. The trip is not fun but will probably be hastened once I become more accustomed to the road.

A

I’d definitely travel too for that kind snuff variety as pennangalan and he got those larger containers as well. Worth time and travel expenses IMHO. Anyway, I walked to town and bought me tins of Wilsons of Sharrow Whiskey, Irish DH Toast #20, Honey Menthol, Lemon Toast and Fribourg&Treyer Seville and Princes tubes, slightly more and different snuffs than last week. There were American tourists buying Cuban cigars and they were so happy, it was very amusing to see their excitement. Hope they noticed the snuffs too.

A

I got more Wilsons Honey Menthol, IDHT #20, and F&T Seville and Princes with McChrystal’s S’Nuff and as a new one, tin of Wilsons Sherry, all from Fox’s of Dublin. Very good boozy snuff that sherry, made for winter nights in front of fire.

J

I’ve bought a few tins from my local snuff emporium lately: WoS: Best Dark (x2) Brunswick Burgundy IDHT #20 Sandalwood Jockey Club Strasbourg SP100 Gold Label Kendal Brown Lemon Toast J&H: SP No1 Hedges: L260 And I have some F&T and Dr Rhumney’s on order. Great shop!

A

Good variety you have there, @Jinder!

J

Thanks @AllanH! I’ve got quite a few more that I’ve bought from Mr Snuff (my local store doesn’t stock exotic stuff like 6 Photo or Abraxas, alas), but I like to patronise my local snuff seller when possible…he’s a real character and knows his snuffs, although he’s into his toasts and can’t stand the darker, heavier snuffs that I like…he thought I was odd to ask him to order Santo Domingo and Princes when I told him I wanted some more F&Ts!

S

I am envious as well … all I can get is Bruton, Red Seal and WE Garrett.

O

I can get most American Snuffs here at almost any place but my local Tobacco only store has Ozona for sale, only the 5 gram tap boxes and for $3.99 to boot but I still put down the money just because I could get it locally.

K

@vathek Jayems on Victoria st has a good stock of snuffs and is not so far from the city. They have a full range of F&T; top mill, 99 and sp1 in tins. About twenty or so wilsons falvours in 25g tins, some horns of the elusive Neftobak, the usual range of poschl and many many dusty tappers of GH, as well as good fresh stock of Hedges and O&G.

A

Funny thing happened at my local local shop straight out of soaps; run by eccentric extended family, where I get my stock of McChrystal’s O&G, only snuff they carry; somebody had bought full box of XL tins so had to settle for ‘large’. I asked what kind of people actually buy snuff here and was told, ‘old, like you’. I’m 48. Cool.

D

The only thing I can buy locally is Silver Dollar. Only one store carries it, I’ve bought most of it, and it doesn’t look like they are going to restock. So, so sad.

S

W.E. Garret Scotch Toque Raspberry O&G Silver Dollar: Raspberry, Natural, Original Ozona President

J

The only snuff my local shop carries in the Silver Dollar Original - an excellent sp I have not yet made the 45 min drive to the nearest snus retailer to see what they carry for snuff.

A

I noticed local ethnic shop carries Makla, so decided to buy some. Got tins of Makla Ifrikia, which I was familiar with before and as a new one, Makla Bouhlel Bentchicou aka Rouge. The latter has well-deserved reputation being about the strongest tobacco product in world, I was pretty dazed of effect. Tobacco itself is nice and fresh in both tins, fluffier and moister than last time I had it. Good stuff and price was good too, 2,20€ per tin. Edit. Makla is damp ground tobacco, not snuff if somebody wonders what I’m talking about!

J

Today i brought 2 radford snuffs 25g for £3.00 hmmm and 3 medicated no 99s . they carry 7 different types at the moment red bull, sp no1 etc etc and more different new ones arriving in stock next week

K

Here in Fortaleza, Brazil, there aren’t a lot of snuffers. I sometimes think I’m the only one in the town! Curiously I found in a bus station a shop that sells these wonderful cans. I bough 3 cans from a local brand named “Guarany”, with flavours of Clove+Cinnamon; Eucalyptus; Imburana - a local plant that has a sweed, woody, organic taste and is contains the drug cumarine, and is my favorite at the moment.

X

@Vathek I don’t want to steal Kepler’s thunder, but yes snuff is readily available in Brazil judging from my expericnce with this forum. However, its not widely known there - much like here in the US, though it might be a little bit more understood there than here. Brazil apparantly invented snuff, so I think to some degree its engrained in the culture. Snuff is called “Rapé” there. Which is where we get the anglicization “rappee”. Literally it means it has been grated on a rasp, though that may not necessarily be the case. There are commercially produced snuffs in Brazil. I have tried one myself, and it was good. The grind was medium and not unlike a standard English grind. I have a list, though I cannot attest to its completeness or accuracy. I will post what I have in the FAQ soon, but for now this is what I know: Fumo Paulistão Ltd. Rapé Paulistão Rapé Gaurany Especial (Canela) Rapé Gaurany Eucalypto Rapé Gaurany Cravo Rapé Gaurany Cristal Rapé Gaurany Mentolado Rapé Gaurany Girassol Henriques e Casarin Ltda. Rapé Imburana Rapé Real Rapé Moeda Cravo Rapé Moeda Natural Rapé Moeda Mentolado Rapé Moeda Especial Rapé Moeda Cristal Caratinga Rapé Imburana Rapé Mentolado Rapé Araça Cravo e Canela So basically four companies with various though sometimes similar flavors. I’d appreciate any help in perfecting this list especially from Brazillians who probably have more inormation than me.

S

Massive jar of W.E. Garrett scotch. Not quite sure how many ounces as I tore off the label, but it’s about the size of a one pint mason jar!

H

There is absolutely NOTHING (other than dip) available where I live! Before the Pact Act went into effect I got most of my snuff from Pennsylvania (I live in Upstate New York.) Occasionally getting snuff from Britian or South Africa. These days I have to get it all the way from Ireland. But I can get everything from one spot these days! I have been trying (without success) to get the Indian store down the street from me to start carrying Indian snuff.

B

Local store Ha, Snuff what is that dip ? no not my neck of the wood. My toby shop carries 0 snuff; And yet met any Snuff users in person. Solely relied on the net to get mine. If they stop this I am not going to be a happy camper.

O

My local tobacconists only stocks Poscl and O&G at ridiculously high prices.

S

On a business trip I was passing through Springfield, MO. A local store called Just for Him carried these… Silver Dollar Apricot, Raspberry, Natural and Original Wilsons of Sharrow Aniseed Extra, Irish High Toast 22, Strasbourg and Vanilla I picked up some of each.

D

I bought Bernhard Fichtennadel today, nice… no mispurchase.

A

Got one of those over-pried mini tins of McChrystal’s O&G in pub, because it was there and wanted to support ‘cause’. Anyway, it’s nice to have some pubs still carrying snuff.

D

I have got 4 various Pöschl snuffs in a northern germany supermarket (“Rewe”) today, … amazing.

D

The local Winn-Dixie carries Dental, Navy Sweet, Bruton, Railroad, and Honeybee. The only one I really enjoy is Dental. Bruton really is “brutal”! As someone has said, it’s like leaving a leather baseball mitt in the hot Nashville sun, then grinding it up. Great for when I want a real strong nic-hit though.

P

I discovered a shop today that stocks Bruton and Honest. It was one of those stores that is half headshop, half “get your cheap cigarette fix here” joints. They even had one of those machines that will automatically roll an entire carton of cigarettes for you (providing you buy the tobacco and the filter tubes, of course). I talked to the clerk about snuff and snus from overseas, but he was just a young guy who obviously thought I was a crazy old coot. He dutifully wrote down the names of a couple of snuff brands I mentioned, but I caught him rolling his eyes at the only other customer in the store.

P

More Red Seal. I must have a full case by now.

D

Went to Denver this weekend, and found a nice little wine/tobacco shop. The young guy in there smoking a pipe looked at me a little odd when I asked for nasal snuff. All they carried was Silver Dollar. Bought a 5g tin for $4.25. Little pricey but good souvenir!

S

I was only able to acquire silver dollar original, peppermint, apricot, raspberry, and cherry. Still looking around though. I’m fortionate enough to live in an area that has atleast 3 tobacconists shops and 10 pipe stores that may sell it in a couple block stretch. Just gonna keep looking.

S

Tube Rose, Garrett Sweet, Dental, Red Seal Sweet, Honey Bee, Silver Dollar Apricot

We don’t have a good selection here.

B

Unfortunately my local stores only carry Scotches. They’re ok if I mix them at about 2.5:1 or 3:1 with WoS cinammon. (that’s 2.5-3 parts Scotch to 1 part Cinammon) Otherwise they’re just too harsh. I save them for emergencies (i.e. I run out or just want to punish myself).

B

I’ve talked to a couple of tabacconists and they’re looking into the possibly stocking some of the premium snuffs. From what they’ve told me thus far, their distributors don’t carry any. Go figure!! I’ll post if I have any luck with them.

T

I guess I’m just lucky, but so far I’ve bought everything locally. Good old Scarborough.

P

Princes Special in a local tobacconist.  Almost 5 quid the the tin!  The simple logic of snuff and baccy forshadows the future collapse of the high street. Many postpersons will be needed; few shop assistants

S

@petersuki - 5 quid is certainly a bit much! The most I paid for a 25g tin from a b&m shop is 4 quid, which is still a lot… but still works out less than 20 cigs, and unless one snuffs like a madman, will last much longer. Other 25grammers have been around 3.30, not that much more than on the net and more convenient.

S

Garrett Scotch today (White Can)

After spending time with Toast the scotch snuffs have gotten easier to take.

B

The only snuffs I’ve ever seen locally are Garrett Sweet & Mild and the Silver Dollar Original.

A

Got a large tin of Samuel Gawith Kendal Brown Menthol, F&T Seville and small tins of Wilsons Whiskey, Vanilla Ice, Lemon Toast and McChrystal’s S’Nuff from Fox’s and Peterson’s of Dublin.

H

Snuff in a LOCAL store??
Fat chance in upstate New York! (Except for American snuffs such as Bruton’s, Railroad, W.E. Garrett, etc.)

T

Top Mill and Gawith Hoggarth CM today.

T

Oh, yea, and a couple of F&Ts tomorrow.

B

dean swift was it then ozona (spelling?). One store had some sam gaiwith but they hid it behind and underneath the counter and wondered why no one bought it. They threw away their stock before I asked if they had any. The guy was really bitchy too about why didn’t I buy any when they had it in stock. Ah cause I forgot to do my tarot reading about their stock I guess.

T

SG Black Rappee 25g and F&T French Carotte.

D

A tin of Wos Vanilla, was definitive not on my order list. and It s pretty good…

A

25g tins of Sam Gawith Gold Mull and Black Coffee and a tin of Makla Bouhlel Bentchicou Verte aka Green. Good tobacco day!

T

F&T Seville and McC S’nuff.

J

I can get a couple scotches locally and a ton of sweet scotches, but not any good sweet scotches.

E

Just picked up a 10g tin of WoS Menthol and a 10g tin of WoS SM 500 from the local shop. It’s time to nail this bad cold once and for all!

J

The only snuff I can find locally are the big containers of Garret Sweet & Mild.

H

Just picked up a 1.15oz of Square, it’s the third type of snuff I’ve tried, and definitely my now favorite of the three. The other two being Tube Rose and Superior…Tube Rose taught me I don’t like sweet scotches…unfortunately besides Superior and Square, the only other plains they have are Bruton and Dental and only in the thrift cans. And I don’t want to get a thrift can of one I might not like.

B

All I can find locally is Ozona orange, W/E Garret and silver dollar.

D

@Harlequin If you like Square, you’ll probably like Dental. It’s similar in the smokiness and grind. Bruton is much more fine, and burns hell of a lot more. But if I had to choose my favourite among the three, it’d be the Bruton.

We have tons of Scotches down here in Alabama. I’ve got Dental, W.E. Garrett, Square, Buttercup, Honey Bee, Bruton, Superior, and Carhart’s Choice.

H

Thanks for the tip! I might try the Dental then. I just can’t do the sweets though, especially if TR is too sweet for me. I have a helluva sweet tooth, just not a sweet nose I guess, lol.

D

Carhart’s Choice (CC) and Honey Bee are the only sweets I’ve been able to stand. CC almost has a cocoa scent, whereas Honey Bee is… well, honey.

S

Garrett’s Scotch, Red Seal and Bruton.

J

@Harlequin I very much like Dental. It’s very plain and besides a little smoky flavor, you really can taste the tobacco. Of the two, I would be so much more likely to get Dental over Bruton in a thrift can. Bruton packs more of a punch, but Dental has a better flavor.

Y

Usually Hedges L620, McChrystal’s. They have to many to choose from, besides those two I try new ones all the time. Or get some online that they don’t stock.

F

As with @Joshua2007  W.E. Garrett Scotch Sweet is the only thing that anyone has around me.

A

The only snuffs I can buy locally are JandH Wilsons medicated 99 and SP. The SP keeps me more than happy.

O

I refuse to buy snuff locally. Swiss prices are outrageously EXTORTIONATE. On offer are crappy poschls, o&g, and more recently a few toques. I do buy makla locally but that habit is going to have to stop. It’s expensive and I go through a 25g tub a day. I’m worried my teeth will fall out, receding gums, and mouth cancer.

K

Teeth look pretty decent in your avatar so far

W

After a bit of searching I found a shop that sells dry snuff.
It is about 16 blocks away so a 5 minute subway hop or a 20 minute walk, not too bad.
I ended up getting W.E. Garrett Sweet Mild, Peach Sweet Snuff, Buttercup, Ralphs, and a Sam Gawith Honey.
They also had Topps, Carhart, McCrystals Mild Lemon, Ozona President, and a few other odds and ends.
I am especially happy to find American Scotches local cause it is a bit retarded to have to get them from overseas.
My wife and son are currently spending a couple weeks at her parents just outside Atlanta so I will try to persuade her to see if she could pick me some different stuff from down there.

O

@willc sounds like your in the northeast somewhere, more specifically the city, but I don’t want to assume. Mind giving more detail as to where you’ve procured these snuffs?

K

There is a tobacco store in Tacoma Washington called the Tinder Box they have a huge cigar room tons of pipe tobacco two walls of pipes loads of snus and chewing tobacco and a vary small display case of nasal snuff , They have most of the Poschl line , Silver Dollar , Wilsons of Sharrow , and a few Samual Gawith including a Bulk Tub of Samuel Gawith Banana that they sell me by the ounce , Every thing is 6.50 they will order any thing you would like. Butt they don’t carry any american snuffs any more but probably would if someone wanted it . Nice place to go if your out . Always smells good like someone has been smokeing in there but that would  be illegal, Wink wink

W

@oilmaster, sorry about that omission, I live in center city Philadelphia and the shop is Chestnut Smoke and gift at 8th and Chestnut.
One of these days I will make a list and try to hit all the local tobacco shops and see who sells snuff and snus.
I would think a city this large should have more than a few places that carry snuff.

S

Only thing available here is Silver Dollar, in 4 flavors.  Unfortunately they are often too long on the shelf.

O

@willc, no need to apologize for the omission, it’s not like anyone else has disclosed, so you’re safe. I just knew it was somewhere in the N.E. corridor with that subway jargon. I wouldn’t jump to the thought that a rather large city should carry a decent variety and inventory of snuff found in the remaining tobacco shops that still stand no matter the region. I’m in NY and have only found one store that carries one kind of snuff, Brutons and the store isn’t even a tobacco shop but just a bodega.

Consider yourself lucky my friend!

There’s been a few other stores in other industries I’ve been meaning to check out in Phila, I guess I should add this to that list.

M

oilmaster, where are you in NY?

A few years back I was visiting my mom in NYC, and it was hard to find any snuff. When I finally found some at a nice tobaccy shop they had maybe 3 of the Poschl’s- a big disappointment. I wonder if it’s any different with the new smoking ban…

O

@Mr. O, I’m in NYC proper. I’m sure since the ban (which took place before I became a more regular user, though I still consider myself quite the occasional snuffer) there hasn’t been much change, being the initial find was so dismal to begin with.

Do you happen to remember the name of this shop? Most stores will carry American snus or chew but no nasal.

L

The only snuff that is for sale at my local newsagent tobacconist is Wilsons of Sharrow Best SP.

M

oilmaster, it was at “de la Concha”.  I think, but I’m not sure, it was in midtown. Anyways, it’s perhaps the best tobacco shop I’ve found in NYC, that is if you’re interested in pipe and cigar smoking. But maybe not as cheap as JR Cigars for some things. Good luck finding some good stuff! Could you give me a heads up if you find anything good out there? I may be out there later in the year.

B

I given up on local ; if you do find any, the stuff is a collector item. The tobacco shop in Pottstown  has just got in silver dollar. not very fresh, probably sat in some depot waiting to be shipped from the first ever batch of SD

S

@basement_shaman I’m in your same boat. I’ve got to drive about 30 miles for 3 flavors of Silver Dollar with a layer of dust on the tin. Definitely not the freshest, but still tastes ok. Thank the lord for Mr. Snuff.

G

Where I live Tobaccos have in their short list,Makla Ifrikia and Président, about three others.Obviously, and because snuff have disappeared of lifestyles, most of them actually don’t use their possibility to give them.

I

I can buy lots of scotches locally. I’m just not a fan of most of them.

O

@Mr. O, that sounds about right, I’ve been going to the Barclay’s downtown for stogies and have been trying to get some pipe stuff from there too, but online at the moment seems to be more economical. Will keep my ears to the ground and give you heads up on what I find.

M

oilmaster-Good, I’d like to know if the shop is as nice as it was. At least it had a lot more than the Barclay’s I visited (is there more than one?) Also the JR Cigar shop is a must (on 5th I believe), they (at least used to) have a decent but modest selection of nicely priced pipe tobacco(in the basement) they had some Sam Gawith, McClellands, Erinmore…but de la Concha has the harder to find stuff…

P

Bought F&T princes special today. Very good tobacconist in nottingham with a good range of WoS, a few toques, etc.

S

TERRIFICALLY JEALOUS!!!.. Cannot buy anything but fairly ‘dusty’ Silver Dollar in like 3 flavors here in Montana,USA.

S

@stogie Same here. I like the SD snuffs, but I would like some variety and not having to wait for such sloooow mail!

S

@Scurvy… Truer words were never spoken!

P

TERRIFICALLY JEALOUS!!!.. Cannot buy anything but fairly ‘dusty’ Silver Dollar in like 3 flavors here in Montana,USA.

you dont do sotch snuff ?? or is it not available around you ?

T

Welp, it sure would be nice to EVEN FIND SOME SCOTCHES HERE!  LET ALONE BRITISH!
I LIVE JUST MILES FROM U.S. SMOKELESS FACTORY!!! You’d think I could atleast find some of THEIR products!  I’ve searched high and low and all I can find is U.S. Smokeless’ BRUTON and RED SEAL.
THAT IS IT IN NASHVILLE TN.  It’s bullshit.

M

Has anyone ever found Starr, Superior or Maccoboy locally?

H

Has anyone ever found Starr, Superior or Maccoboy locally?

I get Superior here. Can’t find Starr or Maccoboy though.

P

Sounds… well… i dont know really. Sucks.

S

Has anyone ever found Starr, Superior or Maccoboy locally?

Not me. I want to try Starr. I may have to get my local store to order a box. I’ll just add it to my bulk supplies…

S

@Prismaster  Unfortunately I seem to live in a snuff desert.  And YES I do like scotches when/where I can get them which at present is ONLY via mail.  BUMMED OUT!

S

Very little, as nobody really carries it, I bought Ozona cherry at my local tobacco shop, one of two snuffs they had and Buttercup Scotch at my local Winn-Dixie who is fazing it out.

W

Has anyone ever found Starr, Superior or Maccoboy locally?

 Starr and Superior

M

@whalen:  where do you live?

W

Maryland, two of those are always available.

X

I can get Superior and quite a few others. Though sadly not Starr or Maccoboy which are two I like to keep on hand. I’m in Delaware, but have bought snuff also in Maryland and New Jersey.

I

Packard’s Club and Gawith Cola.  I’d have secured more but the wife was with me and when I go into a cigar/pipe store that has a smoking room I tend to get a little nuts.

M

Has anyone ever bought Checkerberry locally?

S

Silver Dollar original

K

Sughandsaha rose

J

There are a few places around Milwaukee that I’ve found. I’ve managed to find WoS Apricot, Menthol Plus, Raspberry, Honest Scotch, and a couple Silver Dollars. Anyone else up in my neck of the woods?

W

Most of the local stores where I live in North Carolina stock American Scotches, especially helme snuffs (navy / RR mills), but the closest store I’ve found with British snuffs is about a half hour away - and they occasionally can drudge up a dusty WoS or Hedges L260 tin (still all have the EU cancer warning, haha)

C

Gawith English Rose, Poschl Gawith Apricot, Toque SP Extra and WoS Best Dark. It is actually a HeadShop!!! They only have a few different snuffs in the shop but they have a website with about 30 different snuffs. Since I live just round the corner they let me purchase in person via the shop.

W

@Roderick, I have! And believe it or not… of the about 11 tins I’ve bought with the EU cancer warnings on the bottom, 70-80% of the time, it’s still terrific snuff, a little dry perhaps, but the scent is still spot on!

T

American Snuff Co.'s Honest Scotch and Silver Dollar Spearmint Tobacco shops don’t carry snuff around here. But a couple of cigarette outlets do. Very limited selection, but enough for me to give it a try.

W

Sughandsaha rose! One of my favorites, but not in my stores unfortunately! Congrats on finding that one!

M

F&T KB (I know, but I don’t care it’s not a “real” KB), I had to buy something from a local that could get such stuff these days- costed too much though.

S

My local “head shop” sells Dholakia Snuff, but not enthusiatically. One of the staff warned me off the menthol variety, which I thought hilarious, considering the store sells Magic Mushrooms, miaow-miaow, Ecstasy Substitutes and those “bath salts” that turn you into a flesh-eating zombie. However, apparently the scariest thing in the shop is ultra-strong Indian snuff. Having tried the stuff, I agree with him.

C

Not really my most local shop but I had to go to a meeting in the City of London yesterday so I popped into Smokers Paradise and picked up some F&T French Carotte and WoS Royal George. Were it not for reading reviews here and on ermtony’s site I would never have tried either of those so thanks for the reviews. They are both great.

A

Got some new chema/makla from my makla dealer, namely Malikat Africa and Sante Passe Richesse, which is flavoured with ginger. Didn’t know anything about these before.

M

If you ever had opportunity to see what our local shops here in Czech rep. offer…you would weep your eyes out…just 2 or 3 Poschls…mostly Red Bull, some Ozonas…President…and it´s ALL !!!

P

@mipasma as much as i dislike Poschls, at least its a proper snuff. All i can find is Red Seal. It scatches the itch, leaves a lot to be desired.

S

Silver Dollar Natural. New shipment in. Very nice, moist, satisfying…

E

My local tobacconist has finally got some snuff for sale–Toque USA Citrus. Pricey at $7+, but it’s nice to buy in a B&M store, as others have said. The snuff is tasty, like St. Clements with extra lemon.

D

Corner store has the Swisher and OC offerings. Railroad mills, Dental Sweet Snuff and a few others. I think they’ve been on the shelf for 10 years.

B

My local guy finally got some Toque in stock. Citrus flavor. Twice what it costs to buy it from Roderick, but I still bought 3 tins.

T

Tube Rose Scotch Snuff (not the sweet). Frankly I was surprised they had any at all. But, from now on I’ll be looking around the area whenever I get the chance.

X

@TopographicTales Tube Rose Scotch Snuff is a sweet, though its the least sweet of all the sweet scotches. I went on a scotch run Wednesday, and picked up some as well as 12 others. I’ve noticed Tube Rose has switched to plastic packaging, hopefully it will have more freshness than the old ones.

M

J & H Wilsons SP is the only snuff I have seen in local stores, that’s if they have any snuff at all. Only once I there was something different, a tin of Radford.

T

@Xander I’ve seen the one that I’ve got (Scotch Snuff) and I’ve seen one that is labeled Sweet Scotch, and from what I’ve read it seemed that there was a sweet and a regular. I guess there is just different packaging for the same product then, which I’ve seen before.

W

I live in the snuff wasteland… Barcelona, a city with more than 1.600.000 citizens that only has 2 tobacco shops carrying snuff, and only Gawith apricot and Gletscher Prise! I buy 99% of my nosefood online , Gods bless the internet !!!

H

I live in the snuff wasteland… Barcelona, a city with more than 1.600.000 citizens that only has 2 tobacco shops carrying snuff, and only Gawith apricot and Gletscher Prise! I buy 99% of my nosefood online , Gods bless the internet !!!

same here in the Czech “snuffless” Republic! 8-X

W

Went to my parents this morning and they live about 30 miles south of me in DE and found a shop with about 8 different scotches and the stuff looks pretty new. So I picked up a few 1.15oz cans. I got Square, Navy Sweet, Honey Bee, and Bruton. Pretty stoked cause Bruton is the only one I have tried so far. Things like this can brighten the day.

X

@willc Where was this shop? I need to make sure its one I know about. I have about 4 solid places in DE and 2 or 3 hit or miss ones.

D

There’s a Piggly Wiggly grocery store a town over from me. It’s an American snuff treasure trove. I bought some Checkerberry and Rooster there the other day. They have just about everything there though. The store is in a predominantly black neighborhood. Lots of old black men down here snuff.

X

@dakotas or anyone: Can you find Starr scotch near you?

A

Went to Peterson’s of Dublin to get just another tin of Gold Mull but forgot it and ended with another tin of McChrystal’s O&G and tins Sam Gawith Wild Duck and London Brown. Excited to try classic London Brown, bein about last snuff made using old fermentation in brine method. Of course some makla from my makla. He’s going to ask distributor for Neffa Ifrikia. Good tobacco day!

C

A small grocery store near me had Navy and Buttercup. Go one each.

K

The Tinder Box in Tacoma Washington carries a huge selection now . Way more than just a few months ago , Plus there prices have gone down. And if they dont have it they will get it for you.

J

@ Mike B. Checkerberry is one of the only snuffs available where I live, and I have seen it in multiple stores. I live in Salt Lake City, of all places to see an obscure snuff.

M

@Xander: Whalen said Starr could be found in Maryland. I think I’ve heard of it being sold in North Carolina. It’s definitely one of the more regional snuffs.

J

Toque USA Spanish Brandy!

M

Wanna hear something scary? Poschl Packards Club and Bayern Prise- over $10 a piece in Minneapolis!

W

Got a 4.65oz of Superior Scotch and some 1.15’s of Honey Bee, RR Mills, Bruton, and Navy Sweet.

X

^And I think I know where you got it

A

Got a 4.65oz of Superior Scotch and some 1.15’s of Honey Bee, RR Mills, Bruton, and Navy Sweet.

That keeps you going for a while! Superior is a great snuff, must say.

S

Wanna hear something scary? Poschl Packards Club and Bayern Prise- over $10 a piece in Minneapolis!

I bought both of those in Cologne last month for 1 euro 20 cent a piece at a tobacco shop in a train station!

S

All I can fin in NY state is Navy scotch and me and a buddy each bought one of the last 2 in the shop , and the owner was so shocked , he probly had them for years before we walked in , im looking to try the peach is around NY somewhere , tube rose i think

B

I found one can of Honest and one can of garret sweet , I got Honest I don’t care for sweet Funny the can lies; it reads not a safe alteranative to cigerettes. It should state this product is the best alternatives to all other forms of tobacco consumption

P

Bought more Red Seal, pretty close to full case by now. Its my $5 insurance policy for Snuffpocalypse.

C

This past Friday I went to a tobacco store in Muncie and they had W.E. Garrett Scotch and Sweet. I got a can of each. The sweet is growing on me but the scotch is my favorite. I love the smokiness. I took a snuff of the sweet earlier and coughed my butt off they had a decent array of pipe and chewing tobacco as well (for a town like muncie at least) but Indiana doesn’t really have a lot of tobacco stores. Most tobacco is sold in gas stations here. There are some decent tobacco stores in Indy though. The place I got the Garrett’s also had some tobacco plugs that piqued my interest which I’ll get next time I’m there.

S

Silver Dollar Raspberry

J

@claydonious Pretty sure I liked pictures of those purchases on Instagram…

C

@jakebrugger indeed you did sir. It seems my instagram has been solely dedicated to my tobacco habit as of late. I might need to diversify. Although I meet more people who are interesting through snuff or snus photos which is nice.

C

And I’m rocking Toque SP Extra at the moment.

M

Apparently, here in rural Northeastern Pennsylvania, I live in a snuff wasteland because I’ve never been able to buy any snuff! Just today I went to Ithaca NY which is a college town and came up short! Thank God for the Internet and Mr Snuff.

F

Snuff is pretty much nonexistent here in Sweden. Tobacco-shops used to stock Kensington, which was the first snuff i ever tried some twenty years ago, but i doubt they still do.

X

@FaapOaid, how about Atherthons?

F

@FaapOaid, how about Atherthons?

@Xander, As far as i remember Kensington is the only snuff i have seen in a store. On the other hand, i grew up in a rather small town and maybe the bigger cities had a better range of products.

N

W. E. Gerrett Scotch and their Sweet

S

I got lucky and found some snuff in one of our local tobacco shops here in Colorado. I picked up some Silverdollar Spearmint, Toque Lime, and Toque Whiskey and Honey. Buying good snuff here is a hit or miss venture to say the least.

S

so i went on a mission to find some general snus, i ended up finding the snus as well as ozona orange, cherry and raspberry, then tins were left in the cigar humidor ( the whole shop) and started to rust on the outside , i decided to not take the ozona , but i did pick up Poschls gletscher prise

_

Two Togue 'Mercans (expresso and Citrus) and two Silver Dollars (Nat. & Ape red cot). Enjoying them all immensely.

N

W.E.Garrett Scotch and Sweet

Z

WE Garrett Scotch and a good selection of Silver Dollar. Silver Dollar… Hhhmmmm. Got me this far but can’t shake a stick at my bottle of Abraxas Dragun, my WoS, my Gawiths, or my Bernard’s. I feel like such a whore but so long as mail order exists I doubt I’ll ever finish either can of Silver Dollar I have.

A

Out here in the High Desert of Cali all the shops are owned by Indians…and only one of the has ever heared of snuff that was because his grandmother did it back in india when he was a kid…the guy had to be atleast 60. I dont understnad if something has been around for 500 years why is it so damn hard to find here in the states. though I forsee a incline of snuff use here in the next few years. due to the high pressure to not smoke.

X

@Armymedic604 I get the same response from the Indian shopkeeps here. They know it from their mothers in India. None sell it.

F

I finally found one store nearby that sells a small selection of scotch snuffs. It’s a tobacco store owned by Jordanian Americans, and I picked up a can of Peach Sweet and a can of Ralph’s Dry.

A

SP No 1 - conveniently available in most small shops in the UK.

A

Got some chema/makla from local shop. Another new brand!

A

oh… Somehow managed to get my foxes and weird nightvision image of my last Makla, which is actually called Sultana and is very good. It is one of smaller Algerian chema brands.

M

We have our Food Lion and it stocks only USA scotch snuff

T

I buy my American Scotches at my local tobacco store such as Rooster, Bruton, Dental & Levi, other wise its Mrsunff.

S

Just bought Silver Dollar Vanilla and a Cherry. Asked them to look into Toque USA. We’ll see. These two were new offerings though so maybe…

L

local store only sells gawith apricot and gletcherprise and rarely lowenprise. He gets them illegally because there is no snuff distrubutor in Turkey. There are new regulations about not to smoke indoors so i hope some companies may think to import snuffs.

M

I bought a can of Honey Bee but I haven’t opened it yet

H

They only sell dip in my neck of the woods.

A

Bought small tins of Wilsons of Sharrow Whiskey and Aniseed&Eucalyptus, S’Nuff by McChrystal’s and a tube of Fribourg&Treyer Seville from Fox’s of Dublin. Good stuff all of them.

F

Grabbed a can of Navy Sweet at the tobacco store.

C

Not exactly local but a real, old fashioned tobacconist that I get my pipe tobacco from when I get a chance to get out to the countryside. I was stocking up earlier this week and noticed a small display of snuff so I picked up some WoS Best SP and some Poschl President. I think I got the President more for the shiny box but it is actually quite good and it certainly clears the head. I don’t think I would use if more than once a day unless I had a cold. Still to try the WoS Best SP.

T

I can (or use to be able to) get J&H Wilsons SP No.1 from the newsagent about 5 minutes away, but today I travelled into Covent Garden in the centre of London to the Segar & Snuff Parlour to buy a few tins and tubs. That’s where Mullins & Westley snuffs come from, and now they hold the recipes/patents for all the G Smith & Sons varieties. I got Citrus Delight (M&W) Covent Strawberry, Attar of Roses and Covent Golden, which used to be called Golden Cardinal (GS&S). The M&W snuffs are apparently made at Sharrow Mills and the GS&S’s are Gawith Hoggarth; they come in the same 25g tubs as GH own brand. The manager told me that very soon their full range of snuffs should be available for sale online. Not sure if he ships to the US, I forgot to ask.

H

I bought some Brutons Scotch near Chicago, IL USA.

H

I bought 5 tins of Garrett’s, 1 of Bruton’s, and 1 of Tube Rose at an Indian reservation between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. All very fresh. I asked the clerk whether she saw many people buying them and she said “yes and no”, so some people definitely do still use it besides me.

D

Got some Grad [Caffe] Snuff today…not bad…

I am heading to London today and checked to see that Segar & Snuff would be open before I make the visit to Covent Garden…planning to pick up some Cafe Royale and Golden Cardinal. It looks like all the snuffs are now available to order online. I will ask about US shipping when I am in there and update.

C

@TheBoggart Enjoy your shopping expedition. I have both the Covent Cafe Royale and the Covent Golden and they are both very good. If they are exact duplicates of the old G Smith snuffs then they are significantly cheaper now than they were at G Smiths.

T

I asked the youngish guy behind the counter about shipping to the USA and he said it would be no problem. The Cafe Royale is excellent, although the Golden Cardinal I am not so sure about…says on the back of the tub 18206…I almost wonder if that means it was packed on 18th Feb 2006. It sure seems dry and not massively flavoursome. I have put a few grams in a smash box and am rehumidifying it a little, so I will reserve judgement for the timebeing.

T

@TheBoggart: do you mean the Covent Golden? Mine was fine, don’t have the tub to hand so can’t check the date on the back right now.

T

@TheBoggart: do you mean the Covent Golden? Mine was fine, don’t have the rib to hand do can’t check the date on the back right now.

Yeah, that is what I mean. I would think that given the time that these blends have been at Davy’s it must be newer than 2006! I am a bit wary though because in the past I have had a tub of GH Kendal Brown that was like sand. I think sometimes the lids don’t seal properly on those GH tubs. Interested to know if you Covent Golden has a ‘date’ sticker on it…if that is what they are!

T

@TheBoggart: My tub also has 18 206 on a sticker, as does the Covent Strawberry. I don’t think it’s a date, maybe a batch number? The snuff inside is fresh enough, I find the tubs are pretty good.

3

I just found some WE Garrett at a grocery store local to work, in New Castle PA the plastic can doesn’t look like it was on the shelf for 10 yrs like some of my local finds do. It’s pretty good, first time I’d ever tried it. Much better than the Garrett sweet

T

I don’t think it’s a date, maybe a batch number? The snuff inside is fresh enough, I find the tubs are pretty good.

Ah yes. That sounds more likely. My tentative opinion on the Covent Golden is that it isn’t one for me, but I just sampled the King George, which I also bought as I think you had recommended it somewhere. Wow. Mazipan in my nose! Not sure I would use it as an all day snuff, but it would certainly make a nice desert snuff!

O

Recenly got some Honest Scotch, Three thistle regular and sweet and Navy Sweet. In East Liverpool Ohio. $2.99 each.

S

Thunder Frosted Chew. I buy a couple of tins a month just to support my local baccy store even though the prices here are three to four times that of online.

V

Few years ago, in my city I could buy only some Poschles, WoSes ans SGs in two shops, if somewhere were Packards it was great. But now I know arouns 9 places where I can buy WoS, PG in some shops, Poschles in around 20 points, and even Bernards, Dholakia and JK started to appear. It’s very good as for city in Poland.

F

ive had poschl and WoS from my local in york (choice select). however, when i previously went in asking if they sold snuff spoons, a woman very snappily replied ‘we dont sell that sort of thing here’ while glaring at me. i was in a good mind to turn round and say ‘excuse me?’ but my english streak of politeness made me leave kicking myself.

V

@lunecat My greatgrandfather was fighting somewhere in UK during the II WW. He returned to stalinist Poland in 1946. Unfortunatelly, I have no idea in which unit he served. Maybe even he was in this one which exercised in your neighbourhood? He is believed to serve in 24th Polish Lancer Regiment. For what I know it was the only lancer regiment in "english"Polish Armed Forces in the West, and it was part of the 1st Polish Armoured Division. Two others were in Iraq, Italy and France, but Franciszek (so he was called) was in England. For sure. But my grandma could have mistaken it with his pre-war serving in military. We had 16th Greater Poland Lancer Regiment in our city, where he served, and my other grandpa served. I just don’t really know, but you can ask some people who remember war in your neighbourhood if they remember any lancers I don’t know if he had any troubles when returned Poland ruled by soviets, but he probably received some award in half '70es from PRL government. My grandpa is already dead, so he can’t tell me anything about his father, and my grandma remember not too much about him. I also love history, history of II WW, local history, and history of my family. I’ve been making my family tree for some months… I went back to times of Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. In straight line. The eldest person in my tree was born around 1710. He is my great, great, great…grandmother. Or rather mother of my great, great, great…grandfather, if it has to be in straight line (it counts only men). And now, time for snuff.

S

There’s no store near me to buy snuff,i guess i could drive to mchrystals only 2.0hrs away.always buy online.

T

The closest store to my place that stocks 1 kind of snuff is about 4000km (2485 miles ) east. So I usually order online.

P

W.E. Garrett Scotch from a small grocery that also carries Redman loose leaf & Plug

B

Toque Silver Dollar, about 3 to 4 different flavors, and WE Garrett.

L

Depends on what you call local. Just travelled 5 miles each way on a bus to pick up NTSU black for 1.50 GBP (about 2.25 USD) for a 15g tin (they are plastic but who cares?) Tried one in the shop. Beautifully fresh, damp and stinking of ammonia, so bought two sticks of twelve. This is my favourite snuff but so hard to get.

F

£1.50? people really need to stop buying from mrsnuff. its $4.45 there, about £2.70.

F&t hdt is cheaper from mr snuff than it is direct from the mill where its made.just a thought…

I just got F&T Bordeaux for £3.50, after watching wicked uncle squinty’s review on YouTube last night. I just took a hefty dose and can confirm that it is a beautiful, complex creation.

S

Snuffstore around £3.72,and stays the same if your logged in or not…

F

hmm. @mrsnuff , why these differences?

H

Giant tin of Honey Bee and one of Superior. Loving the honey bee as a dip. Superior is good but really pretty indistinguishable from Square to me, not that that’s a bad thing.

P

W.E. Garrett Scotch

M

Tube Rose recently, and hopefully next week I will try some Bruton and Navy Sweet because I think I saw it last time I was at Bi-Lo.

Z

Local Smoker’s Haven has Dental Sweet and three flavors of Toque (Whiskey and Honey, Bourbon, Menthol). At Tobacco International I think they had large tubs of some 6 photo for a very short period of time. Thats about it that I know of.

K

@mrsnuff Your store is about as local as I can get

I

Here in Albuquerque, New Mexico (which is part of the USA, though many Americans don’t seem aware of this fact…) at Stag Tobacco they offer a small collection of nasal snuff, ironically none of it is of the traditional American type, I have purchased: WoS Crumbs of Comfort & SM Brown, Dean Swift Bezoar, SP & Doctor Johnson, they also offer a small smattering of fruit flavoured WoS, Toque & Silver Dollar that I passed up. In the past I have bought WoS Lemon Grove, Aniseed Extra, Irish Coffee and Menthol Plus there and they have some F&T Saville & HDT which they sell by the scoop. The going rate for all the brands is about $3.50 USD for 5 grams. Also many of the Head Shops around here carry Poschl President & Ozona fruit flavours on occasion.

K

@Ivan Albuquerque? I lived in El Paso for 5 years I know what you mean. And I’m kickin myself in the butt because I just drove up through Albuquerque. Never thought to check the place for snuff!

G

Honey Bee Sweet Dry Snuff

D

FINALLY a local store brought in some USA toque snuffs. So I picked up citrus, black cherry, and rum and cola.

W

The only place I found here in southeastern Wi, was WE Garrett scotch. The plain and the mild sweet. They also have 4 or 5 flavors of silver dollar. They charge 5 bucks for a 10g tin of the silver dollar

M

I found a few tins of silver dollar; original, natural, cherry and apricot at a smoke shop the next town over. The funny thing was the woman working.there didnt even know she had any.there … i had to find it myself and explain what it was.

_

My shop has silver dollar, garret and sons, toque. Not much. I’ve only gone to one that I can get to in town, duluth, mn.

P

W.E. Garrett

V

I’m going for Brasil Doppelt-Fermenteirt this weekend.

I

@13bitgrizz What shop in Duluth had snuff?? I use to live there and, I only saw Poschl snuff at Last Place on Earth. I also hear Last Place was shut down.

J

I’m lucky enough to live about 30 minutes away from MySmokingShop. Got Wilson’s Best SP from there and my first tin of Samuel Gawith’s Black Coffee, obviously a minuscule sample of what they have to offer but no doubt I’ll be ordering from them again.

P

Picked up a small tin of SM blue and a medium McChrystals o&g after work today. Trying to get rid of a headache.

R

My local and most used shop is around 250miles away in Preston, there is nothing worth going to near me which is a royal shame.

I

250 miles? Does most used mean once a year @R25?

R

250 miles? Does most used mean once a year @R25?

Online orders dude, there are no decent places near Guildford to go to outside of London and even then.

I

@R25 Ahh. I didn’t know what country you were from so, that would have helped. Being American, I’m not use to people being able to order snuff with in my own country. Stupid laws and, stuff.

S

Magnet menthol, taxi and singletons super menthol. Battling to find others.

B

I can only buy brazilian snuffs around here. I got tired of them, always same flavors and brands.

R

Online orders dude, there are no decent places near Guildford to go to outside of London and even then.

@R25, if you are ever passing by Windsor, you can drop into the shopping archade & visit the Havana Cigar shop, they carry Frederick Tranter snuff & a few others.

It’s still a half hour drive for me dude but I see they have a online shop so whats the Fredrick snuff like, never heard of them before.

S

To date the only in-store Snuff I have found here in Japan is Gawith Apricot and Poschil’s Gletscher Prise. From time to time they have café, but not often. Thank goodness for online ordering.

5

@lunecat Quick question on the Tranter/WoS mapping … As we now know thatTom Buck = QES, how certain are we that Tranter’s Regency and Dr Johnson are identical … seems unlikely. I’m asking you as I know you’ve sampled a good range of the Tranter’s whereas I’ve only dabbled with the M&W

5

I’m sure there was an “admission” somewhere from Wilsons that said that Tom Buck was Queens Extra Strong rebadged for markets where calling it Queens would be detrimental to sales … hence my confusion about the Dr Johnson and Regency being equivalents of the same snuff. Maybe Dave put the list together before that admission had come out. Probably a good excuse to do my own investigations and comparisons one day Won’t be any time soon though, as I currently totted up I already have over 50 snuffs (some of which I’ve had for ages) that are still waiting for me to spend some quality time with them So far I’ve only done “side by side” comparisons of a couple of M&W, and pretty certain that Jock’s Choice is WoS Tangerine. Not 100% I’ve pinned Emerald Mocha down yet, but thinking it’s probably Coffee Cream

X

Helme: Square, W.E. Garreit & Sons: Sweet Snuff, W.E. Garreit & Sons:Scotch, Checkerberry @ Jeannie’s Smoke Shop & Smoke Break, Salt Lake City Utah. All say “Sale only allowed in the United States”.

G

I see Nashville, Tennessee praised as a decent place to find snuff.  I haven’t been too pro-active, but whenever walking through stores I peer through the glass behind the counter and have never seen any American snuffs

Maybe I’ll start asking places just to see, but I almost dread seeing these kids just give a blank stare.  I think I’ll try Wal-Mart first, since it’s a mile up the road.  There are tobacco outlets but they’re in other areas from where I live, which is like at least 20 miles away and I just don’t feel like it

Food Lion is supposed to have it.  I don’t remember seeing it, but that store is 30 miles away and is the nearest one to me

H

McChrystal’s Original and Genuine. All I can get here.

D

None.  I’ve never been able to find any in a local store.

G

I’m all excited to see a place downtown called Snuff House, but I find out it’s rightly titled Olde Snuff House.  It’s a Copenhagen museum

I’m so tired of people calling dip snuff

J

Ozona O-type. Way overpriced tho

C

Bruton and Garett scotches…tuberose, all in the cardboard cans so very old. SD rasberry. None of these I like so i buy from m.r snuff.

H

Well… here in Bavaria you can buy most of the Poschls somewhere. And most of the Bernards are also available, but less widely than the Poschls.

On some stores there also can be some McCs be bought. Like Aztec, Sicilian Burst or O&G.

Even L260 can be bought.

But due to the corona virus restrictions I doubt this will all be for long available anymore.

I almost stored about 10 of the 25 gramm packs of Gawith Original. They are sealed and will keep fresh for ages.

B

There is no chance of purchasing SNUS or Snuff here in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. It is definitely frustrating. I order everything on line from Mr. Snuff and Northerner.com

H

I can get snuff, but I cant get to the store that sells it, and I own it. Strange times.

S

Gletscher-Prise for 1.75 EUR a piece. (Hungary)

J

1 x Viking Thors Hammer 2 x Neffa Ifrikia 3 x Konigsprice Great shop, decent prices and wide selection! tmp-cam-2101151266940372370

V

WOW, what a selection! But wait a minute, is there a vac tin of J&H Top Mill in the very front, between a sachet of Dholakia Sparrow and 6 Photo Med.!!! You’ll definitely need to procure that one next time, @Johano! Even if it’s SP No. 1 or Medicated No. 99. If properly sealed, I can bet it’s still in a better shape than any currently made of that house either in 5 g boxes (all and any types - square box, round WoS-type tin or that nasty tap tin) or large 20 g WoS-type tins. What a rare find!.. These were made according to old recipe, which was much better than current J&H Ws.

And if they still have a 50 g carton of Bernard Feiner Offenbacher Cardinal, it’s a must to obtain as well. This one: https://imged.pl/tabaka-bernard-offenbacher-cardinal-50g-2761120.html

Even some Molens there, in the lower right corner. Beautiful…

J

This guy? This is medicated one right?
  Ad

I got some more pics @volunge. I am really curious about every single one, but my budget is limited and I have already bought plenty of snuffs that were dissapointment (most notably TAXI dead lol). So, yes any thoughts on what REALLY is worth buying is appreciated! :D

V

SP No.1 is not medicated, it’s a great menthol-free SP-type snuff (when fresh). Last time I had it in vacuum tin 10 years ago… I can’t tell the year when J&H Wilson (to be more precise, Imperial Tobacco) discontinued their vac tins, but they did it somewhen between 2013/14 - 2015 (roughly). They still were around for a good while at some retailers’. Buying such tin would be a risky step, vacuum tins ensure 4 year shelf life. But these are some of the very last anywhere on sale now. When fresh, SP No. 1 is moist (moister than fresh Neffa - moisture content is about 18-20%) and reeking with ammonia, solid medium nicotine. It’s slightly scented with bergamot.

Your shop carries some snuffs which you won’t get anywhere online now (outside of Germany/Switzerland). For some strange reason snuffstore.co.uk/mrsnuff.com does not restock Scandinavian Tobacco snuffs - Kensington, the red tap box beneath GH CM tin in the bottom of the last photo, next to it - Rumney’s Export; Edelprise - green/yellow tap box between Dholakia Black and Dholakia White. If you like menthols, give Kensington a try someday. It’s fine, paraffin-free, very invigorating, even if not at its freshest. It has a background note of lavender and is more interesting than Hedges, menthol and eucalyptus level is on a par with H, nicotine level is a tad higher. My favourite menthol.

I’ll edit this post later this evening, add some more notes.

J

@volunge hmm… maybe I could ask them to open one of the tins and check it next time I be there. Never tried any SP. This intrigues me a lot, didnt realised I am dealing here with snuff time travel phenomena!!

V

Yes, have a talk with tobacconist. Tell him that these cans are long discontinued and now are past their expiration date. It’s not indicated on the tin, but actual 4 years shelf life of vacuum tins was disclosed by ex worker of J&H Wilson snuff mills. Worth noting, that old (dried-out) snuff, which originally comes moist, is not enjoyable after the moisture is lost. Moreover, some decades ago UK tobacconists returned old snuff stock to the manufacturer for reprocessing. This practice is now defunct/abandoned. So, you would like to check the state of the snuff, if it’s still moist/not musty/still has some ammonia and bergamot scent or at least to check if the vacuum seal isn’t broken (just try opening that J&H W SPcan - if it’s still sealed, you won’t open it without a coin).

Also, before buying anything, check the manufacturing date code of tins which have it. Wilsons of Sharrow/F&T/Wilsons’s of Sharrow Dr. Rumney’s tins have a date code on the bottom sticker - XXX XXA, last two digits indicate the year of manufacture. I wouldn’t buy anything older than two years (or even made pre-2019)… With the exception of Dr. Rumney’s BROWN, which is originally dryish (like older Neffa).

You already know how to decipher the mfg date code of Samuel Gawith / Gawith Hoggarth/ Viking snuffs.

Poschl and Bernard codes can be cracked only by manufacturers and it would be a hassle to do - you would need to send an inquiry by email… I did it once both with P and B and got the reply on the same or next day. Be careful with P and B, less popular snuffs might be stale. Steer clear of Poschl Gletsherprise GOLD, it’s stale, at least 3 or 4 years old (now it’s sold with different label - Gletscherprise EXTRA). Beautiful snuff with the shortest shelf life, unfortunately. I think they got both Gold and Extra there, if you are curious about this snuff, opt for Extra, should be safe to go.

41 Photo Himtaj tins (Brown/Golden and Black) most probably are stale (especially moister Black). Yellow Lilly is one of the blandest snuffs ever made on Earth. Honestly, I wouldn’t buy any Indian snuff there, with the exception of the White Elephant (order them from snuffstore.co.uk, expecting them more fresh).

Another super rare snuff, discontinued in 2018 years ago - THUNDER (tapbox). Interestingly, made by Swedish snus company V2. It came in awful tap boxes, always dried-out (imagine dried out Poschl…), but loaded with nicotine. Was sold pretty cheap at most places. Don’t expect quality, just massive nic.

Red Bull aromatic snuff sachet is nice snuff, very different from the RB in tap box. Way less menthol. Recommended!

Wilsons of Sharrow Dr. Rumney’s Brown is good plain snuff, you might enjoy it. It’s a mix of toast and plain snuff, very easy to take, grind is a tad coarser than that of most toasts, it’s not smoky or burned (not like a Madras which you are not too fond of), but nutty/biscuity. Worth trying, one of the best snuffs there, imho.

J

Will do thnx for all of the tips. Didnt know about reprocessing, I wonder how did they do that. You convinced me into trying some of them next time. Ive bought Thunder few months ago (in different shop) and indeed, it was dry as sand but not much nic as far as I remember. I tried Red Bull Aromatic but not a big fan of it. Im afraid of buying WoS here, wouldnt risk it second time if there wasnt mfg date… but its cheap after all. Will update soon.

J
S

Just went to local newsagent for a cople of tin of McCrystals original. Very nice too.

J

Konigsprise. Cheap snuff is good, because its cheap and good

J

Redbull. Someone: How much menthol do you add? Poschl CEO: Yes.

H

I went to Landshut this morning, due work.

When I went back home I took a visit at Poschl factory in Geisenhausen and bought myself two tap boxes of Gletscher Prise. Really fresh and a nice treat.

Geisenhausen is just about 60 kilometres from my doorstep.

J

@Humppa lucky you! Do they sell some kind of posters or cool Poschl gadgets for fans by any chance there?

H

@johano There were no posters when I was there the last few times I was there, They had some of their flasks for sale. But I find the Bernard flasks cooler somehow. Maybe at Poschl they would sell stuff like merchandise like posters, shirts or whatsoever if someone asks. If I dont forget, I will ask the next time I be there.

S

On the way home from a trip to Maryland I stopped at a Food Line in Virginia a little North of Bristol, Tn.

Picked up a few American snuffs I have not tried.  Unfortunately for me they were well stocked with sweets and not so well with plain snuffs.

I tried to post a picture but no luck for me.   Picked up Superior, Square, Society, Navy Sweet and Lorillard Sweet Scotch

The only snuffs I have managed to find at local stores in Mumbai, India are - Sugandha Sagar Rose, SVS Madras, Swastik snuff, 5 photo himalaya black snuff. I had found NB Madras too, but its not available anywhere. Brick and mortar stores selling snuff are rare where I live and are reducing in numbers.

Red Bull Purchased in newly opened tobacco store near my city. Lot of snuffs from Poschl, 41p White Elephant, Andrechs - even my fav Neffa Ifrikia!! But the prices are pretty steep, like double the price. At least now I know where to head at in case of zombie apocalypse…

V

@Johano, could you recommend a tobacco store in Warsaw with good snuff selection? I’m considering going on a snuff trip someday, once this turmoil is over. Couch fares are ridiculously cheap.

J

@volunge here you go my friend https://m.facebook.com/sherlocktrafika/?locale2=pl\\_PL Probably the biggest selection in Poland, quite reasonable prices, comparable to MrS. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind, you can sample as much pinches as you want Just PM me if you got any more questions.

V

Oh, dzieki! Bardzo massive snuff assortment there! Online stores aside, probably the largest in continental Europe, if not the whole world. And if I get it right, it’s located really close to Warszawa Centralna. Yee-haw!

J

It could be! Actually, its right under Warsaw City Centre, -1 floor. Please @volunge, just make sure u have fixed budget for the snuffs before you stomp in, or buy a two way ticket before snuff tour. Its hypnotic place… probably worse than gambling :-SS

M

Ten years old this thread. The only snuff I can get here in NW Colorado is Mc Chrystal’s O and G, aniseed, lemon and Violet. Every other must be ordered from the UK or now IOM!

P

i moved to the south in the US about a year ago and i love the fact i can get scotches! I’ve already picked up many. unfortunately i haven’t found my favorites like star and rooster. I’ve also seen O&G out in the wild but only small tins. i go through too much of O&G for it to be worth buying local. i have to pick up a 200 g tub online

J

Just some Red Bull on the train station. Noticed that they started selling ZYN nic pouches as well here

J

Red Bull Aromatic x 2 Viking Thors Hammer Viking Brown New batch of Vikings appeared here. Vac tins looked way more cool and solid imo.

V

How do you like the new Vikings, @Johano?

A

@Johano how is the Viking Brown compared to the beloved Viking Dark? I am waiting for my 100g tub order of Brown

J

@volunge @ALLex first of all, those new 24g tins are unpractical. As soon as I opened Viking Brown, some of it fall out of it. Its filled to the top, too easy to open. Won’t hold the freshness for long I am afraid Brown is much finer than Dark, but taste is similar. I think I prefer Dark, makes less backdrip. Havent checked new Thors yet.

J

Two snuffs I found in Rome - tabaccheria near main train station Ozona English Type 5g Poschl President 5g
