What next from Dunhill.

It’s a sad day for me today, I’m now completely out of Early Morning pipe so I’m looking for a replacement, I was thinking either London mix, Navy Rolls or Royal Yatch but I’m open to suggestions as I’m a Dunhill slut. Also I’ve already tried Nightcap which I keep 3 tins at least in a mason at all times and My Mix 965 which I generally dislike as the flavour is thin and watery. PS. Theres a good chance I will just buy everything people suggest so be kind.

London Mixture and Royal Yacht are my favs, seeing as how you like EMP I’d go for London Mixture but Royal Yacht is a must try.

Don’t know if this helps or not @R25 but I have purchased EMP & Nightcap from the following just last month. http://cupojoes.com/cgi-bin/dept?dpt=F&srch=DF&tier2=26

I love Dunhill Flake, FWIW.

pipesandcigars is selling a few bulk Dunhills for ~$33/lb…

Royal Yacht is good. For my money Elizabethan Mixture is the best Dunhill tobacco on the market right now.

A while back, a decade and a half ago or so, 965 was really excellent. I had a tin just recently and it was rubbish. The so-called “clone” by Cornell and Diehl, Tuggle Hall 965, is a far, far better product, I think. Not quite as smooth as the old 965, but vastly more flavour than the new one.

^ Even 4 Noggins Owls Head (another 965 clone) is way better than the new MM965. I don’t know if I just got a bad tin or something but my tin of the new 965 was just plain crap.

Strange both of you post this today as I’m having a bowl if 965 in my new Mario Grandi atm, the pipe is amazing the baccy is just crap. I thought the 25mm bowl would help bring out some more flavour but nope it’s the same watery crap.

Me, I have a pipe where its sole purpose is to smoke their Deluxe Navy Rolls. Which sucks because even on smokingpipes.com, it ain’t cheap… I also love the Flake. I loved London Mixture and just bought the new Elizabethan Mixture. We’ll see how I like it. As to Royal Yacht, I was originally told that people tend to love it or hate it; that it’s a polarizing blend. I was going to be in the Love It category, I thought. Boy, was I wrong. I hated the flavor and the nic hit was unbelievable. After smoking a bowl, I get the shakes and cold sweats something fierce. Only other tobacco that does that is Sillem’s Red. But I like that stuff. Everybody needs to make up their own mind on that, though. Too bad. I love the tin.

Has anybody here tried the new Dunhill Durbar or Apéritif? If so, any impressions you would like to share?

The cigar website I go to sells Deluxe Navy Rolls slightly cheaper. http://www.cigar.com/cigars/viewcigar.asp?brand=1448 .

But, they don’t have bulk discounts.

Ditto Dr. Hanna; I loved the old Apéritif, and the new-ish Durbar of “EU” provenance is okay. Looking forward to impressions of either.

I’m with @perique & @n9inchnails: If your a Dunhill fan then I reckon London is hard to beat. Royal Yacht has also been a firm favourite of mine for many moons; but, as @number _seven points out it tend to be polarising due to the Tonka casing. Elizabethan is nice but availability seems to be patchy. GH Squadron leader is often touted as a ‘classic English’ I personally don’t think too much of it, but hey, a lot of people swear my it. For something a bit different I rate Robert Lewis’s 123 Mixture - Good luck!

Kinda forgot about this thread, ended up getting navy rolls, royal yacht and London mix. Love all of them though the Royal Yacht is “situational” I like a nightcap baccy but the plum casing isn’t what I always want.

Royal Yacht–I have read (but forget where) that the casing is black currant.

Reading this thread has tempted me to get another tin of Dunhill Flake, I think I can hear my wallet crying already…

@jwhiteside91 Likewise; tell me about it. Put in an order yesterday for five tins, I already have 9 open, 3 waiting to open, and many ‘cellared’ tins that I’m hiding from my better half  Need help; I really do!

Not to worry MisterPaul, some of us have dozens of tins open and tens of kilos of tobacco cellared (whistling and looking around aimlessly…)
