I just opened a tin of SG Irish D Light for the first time. It’s fantastic. A sweet, smokey fragrance.
What makes some of them smokey? Does it necessarily mean they were fire cured, hence smoke?

They could be roasted like some toasts, I’m fairly sure fire, or Flue curing would have an impact on this. Possibly even the addition of certain essential oils like Birch. I would be interested in hearing from some of the more knowledgably members on this subject.
Toast are toasted .That doesn’t mean the base tobacco was or was not fire cured. Since the manufactures don’t reveal their process. Scotch are scorched and a bit more smoky . Latakia is fire cured over wood fires and is the smokiest . You can make your own smokey snuff with air cured Just add liquid Smoke to hydrate it if your concerned about TSNA levels
