1.abraxas cafe 11 2. fribourg and treyer patchouli 3. buzz bubblegum
This will change in 5 minutes, but the first three that come to mind right now are: 1. Sir Walter Scott Moro Moro 2. Toque USA Whiskey and Honey 3. Fribourg and Treyer Santo Domingo
At the moment:
Toque Rose
Toque Lime Toast
WoS SM 500
Currently:
Mullins & Westley Mature Crumbled
Mullins & Westley Jock’s Choice
Fribourg & Treyer Santo Domingo
That’s too cruel for me. I tried to try, though. Sorry…
@conk where does someone find Mullins & Westley? i tried mr.snuff on the search engine and found nothing. also, does that maker have a decent amount of varieties? i love fribourgs but haven’t tried the santo yet…
@volunge that is a great comment bud, i know it was difficult for me also…thats funny people are mentioning CURRENTLY…i guess we have to all go to that statement![]()
@Marc1000 - I buy it from Segar & Snuff, a small tobacconist in Covent Garden, London. The only other place I have seen it advertised is snuffstore.de
I think it’s known as a contract brand, only available to commissioning retailers - and it appears there aren’t many of those…
As far as I’m aware there are only 4 varieties. Mature Crumbled, Jock’s Choice, Particular and Keen Scented. If you go to snuffstore.de and let Google translate (unless your German’s good), it has the descriptions of each of them there.
@volunge me too X_X
i can put up the jock’s choice i really love the neroli smell (bitter orange) in general such a great mix of flower and citric notes
So hard to nail just 3, but as of this moment in time 1. 6 photo No.66 2. Bernard Jubilaums 3. Argh…no I cant nail just one for the third, so 6 photo Anarkali, Kailash, super kailash, no.666, special…take your pick from one of those.
McC O&G
F&T HDT
6P Cheeta
but those are just currently my favorites as well
Ask me again tomorrow and it’ll change, but as of right now:
Samuel Gawith Menthol
McChrystals Original and Genuine
Tied between McChrystals Hops and FUBAR Boss, which have formed my go-to non-mentholated snuffs.
Yes, probably mine with change too - but mostly it is
6P Super Kailash
Dholakia Sparrow Cool
6P Cheeta
NB Madras
Dholakia Kamal
41P WE
…
oh, sorry, I was supposed to stop at 3.
@newbiesnuffer looks like i may have to try the 6 photo line sometime…
@Marc1000 - you must
My all time favorite would have to be old mill kind of blue, followed by pure Virginia toast. There is something so sublime in kind of blue, as well as the rest of his blends. Rest in piece Chef. My third would probably be toque ambrosia.
Toque Quit: Great nicotine fix and smells wonderful.
Viking Thor’s Hammer: Great nicotine fix. Nice when I feel like something more “filling” in my nose than Quit.
SD raspberry: Not too much menthol, and not too sweet Raspberry. Just about perfect. Mixes wonderfully with Toque Quit.
McChrystal’s O&G WoS Tom Buck SG Kendal Brown. But sometimes Super Kailash.
6 photo afghan white
fubar grunt
viking spear
For me still Toque Natural toast mix 5/1 with F&T French Carotte, Toque USA W&H, Toque NT all by itself
F&T Old Paris
McC O&G
SG Black Rappee
F&T HDT
FUBAR Grunt
FUBAR SNAFU
Anything Old Mill especially Kind of Blue and all the toasts
Toque Rustica, stand alone or mixed in anything
Rooster
Yeah, I like nicotine
My top 3 are all from Toque, I haven’t tried much anything else. 1.) Toast an Marmalade 2.) USA Whiskey an Honey 3.) A battle between Original and that funky Cheese an Bacon
Top 3? Tricky; changes by the day and by mood. However, the 3 constants that I would stock up on for the apocalypse. In order
1. Samuel Gawith - Elmo’s Reserve (my “Desert Island” choose)
2. Samuel Gawith - Scotch Black
3. Bernard - Aecht Altbayerischer Old Bavarian Schmalzler
A year ago before so many were discontinued, that really was The Apocalypse and I would have stocked up if I’d known:-((
2. Samuel Gawith - London Brown
- Samuel Gawith - Chocolate (I’m English and brought up on Cadbury/Bournville and this was just like “Bournville Dark Chocolate”).
Sws latakia blend Sws havana toast (best served fresh ) Not sure for the 3rd one maybe sws mull of oa or gletscher prise or lundy foot. But i can t find any snuff as special both in taste and the wow effect as the number 1 and 2
My sad triplet (in no particular order):
Jaap’s Hollandse Bolongaro. Discontinued. Not a pinch left, no substitute.
SG Red Crest (the coarse and scented one, sold mislabeled as plain). Discontinued. Only a few pinches left. No substitute.
SG Blue Crest (plain). Discontinued. Last pinch in the tin. No substitute.
@volunge that is truly heartbreaking! I swear mysmokingshop still do Red Crest, but I might be thinking of the wrong one.
@Conk I’m afraid that’s the plain one. At least it was when I got my last tin from there. They differ like day and night. Red Crest at snuff.me.uk is also plain, unfortunately.
its changing but right now 3 things that are on my desk and get used daily are:
bernard jubi/wiesn/weissblau (those 3 are the same) - my strong menthol favorite with good nicotine choice, also got some smoke aroma in the back which i love
thunder abri cool fine grind - my new all day favorite with almost no menthol i love the instant nicotine and front drip, moderate apricot scent/taste after its out of the nose not much is left but some sweetness, rarely backdrip and should it happens its pleasantly sweet. one of the easiest to sniff of about 100 snuffs i tried. does not irritate or clog nose even after a long day or several days (took it staying up 3 days and nose was all good)
poeschl ozona c-type (cherry) - nice sweet cherry with a lot of menthol it should be lower to not cover the sweet cherry so much but its menthol feels less than other ozonas (except president). when i get these little spin jars i open it and let it sit open for 1-2 days to air out something thats causing a nasty rancid vile type of sensation only slightly but enough to be offputting it dissapears if the can is left open a bit.
Toque Quit is my hands down favorite snuff.( This and Thor’s Hammer helped me quit smoking 31/2 months ago)
Viking Brown
Kendal brown original is so earthy and moist and easy to snuff.
I guess i’m not as fancy as y’all.
If I had to pick a fave menthol it would be MCchrystals Glacier. It’s like pure ice in my nose with none of the weird other smells that other menthols seem to have. (Looking at you Gletscherprise)
Just noticed I already posted in this discussion. Looks like my tastes haven’t changed much since the tenth.
As a newbie snuffer, from what I’ve tried so far…
#1 W.O.S. SP 100
#2 Toque chocolate
#3 Gawith Hoggarth CM
At the moment. 1. WoS Grand Cairo 2. Mcchrystal’s SP 3. WoS Irish 22 On the substitutes bench - Ambrosia, Celtic talisman & O&G. Reserves - Seville, Aztec & mild lemon (Can change depending on new orders) ?
Elmo’s Reserve - My Desert Island snuff
F&T Santo Domingo
WoS Whisky & Honey (While stock lasts - Discontinued:-(()
otherwise: Bernard - Aecht Altbayerischer Old Bavarian Schmalzler
That’s a tough one, but right now I’d say:
F&T Old Paris
Bernard Ficchtenadel
Bernard Brasil Fresco
- anything rose 2. pretty much any toast 3. Gekachelter Virginie
HDT, Golden Horn, & MB Madras, when mixed with something that burns less.
It changes all the time, but the most consistent all-dayers are Bernard Brasil Fresco, Snuffstore Cafe Noire, and SWS Lundy Foot. Maybe the best snuffs are only taken once they’ve been forgotten- if that makes any sense.
So hard to pick 3 but … 1. Toque Ambrosia, 2. WOS crumbs of comfort 3 Toque sp extra
Ive only been using snuff for around 1 month but out of my stash my three favorites have become 1. Sam Gawith Elmo’s Reserve 2. Hedges L260 “The Snuff” 3. Wilsons Of Sharrow Tom Buck
If I could pick four I’d be in decent shape. three is way tougher.
J&H #99
F&T HDT
Santo domingo/best SP
It’s the struggle between dat briney coarse kendal snuff or a sharp piquant SP… who knows!!! but I could pick four, at least.
Fubar grunt
Gekachelter Virginnie
6 Photo Madras
I’m a newbie to this, so it will change.
My top 3 changes according to the time of year. Right now, at the end of a long, brutal winter I’m into McC’s OandG, NTSU green and black, and Santo Domingo.
Toque Berwick Brown SG SP Scotch WoS Brunswick That’s my answer today. On any other day, it might be different.
Changes month to month, but currently:
SWS Field of Junipers
White Elephant
Wilsons Rum and Blackberry
This week it’s: SWS Havana Toast Snuffstore Cafe Noire Dholakia Mighty Eagle But it will change next week I’m sure!
Toque Natural
Bernard Amostrinha
Fubar Grunt.
They’ll change by the end of this weekend.
Toque quit. (helped me quit smoking)
W of S Irish no 22
the third varies… at the moment i like Toque Toast and Marmalade, Toque Peanut butter and Irish D…it will change
with the changing seasons and my changing tastes.
I’m not very good at consistency, but this is my current 3 (no particular order):
Toque Berwick Brown
F&T Princes
Toque Raspberry Menthol
My desert island 3 would be something sweet and strong, a moist plain snuff and a toast. Current picks would be: bernard smaltzerfranzl f&t old paris toque almond toast
In no particular order:
Neftobak/Taxi Red/my own homemade (interchangeable)
6 Photo MG Madras
Toque USA Whiskey & Honey
Toque Wild Berry
6 Photo Cheeta
ToqueUSA Whiskey and Honey
Im still a newb but so far these are the ones i have tried that stand out from the rest but subject to change any time since we can only pick 3 snuffs. 1. 6 Photo Super Kailash- got the sampler pack and am currently waiting on a larger 45g since this stuff is so good. 2. Paul Gottard Mixed Fruit- has a slight minty menthol effect and the tap box is good quality as well. 3. Janta Punjabi- this one i have been using more and more each day, mixes perfectly with Polschl Schmalzer SF. Although it is decent by itself and has a unique scent.
F&T Old Paris
Viking Spear
Poschl Schmalzer SF
At the moment and always subject to change. There are just too many good ones out there.
Plains I have used daily for the past year or more: MG Madras Cheetah Chapp Gul 6 Photo Natural Flavored: SG Fire Dance SG Elmos SWS Figue
It’s a horrendously difficult question, but at the moment mine would probably be:
1.) 6 Photo Cheeta
2.) 41 Photo White Elephant
3.) Toque USA Whisky and Honey
Runners-up would include Toque Ambrosia, Toque Almond Toast, Hedges L260, and 6 Photo Begum Green.
So far all 3 of mine are from toque. 1. SP Extra 2. Spanish Gem 3. Quit
F and T High Dry Toast
Wilons Crumbs of Comfort
- J Wilson Top Mill
Ntsu Black
Toque Whiskey & Honey USA
Dholakia White
I would definetly put Toque Cheese and Bacon on my top 3 snuffs if it was super stronger in nicotine and aroma!
Top 3
Taxi Red
Toque Ambrosia
Wilsons Grand Cairo
Alternate Top 3
Gekachelter Virginie
FandT Old Paris
Toque SP Extra
Plain fine, plain coarse, and scented: 1. Neffa Ifrikia 2. Viking Dark 3. Toque W&H USA
As a newbie to snuff…my 3 early day faves are:
Toque - Berwick Brown
Whiskey & Honey
Sam Gawith - KB Original
This may change when my current order arrives with a selection of 6 Photo, F&T Carotte, Dholakia Black, and Wilsons Bee M.
How does the 6 Photo Cheeta and the Toque Whiskey & Honey compare? Nose burn with the Cheeta?
41P White Elephant Toque SP Extra SG Kendal Brown Special I could probably retire to a desert island with these, but would undoubtedly start craving something a little perfumed to ring the changes. Not on a desert island, though, so not a problem.
@Ben_MacM Cheeta has a nose burn, it’s finer grind than Whiskey&Honey, seems to have a lot more nicotine and a nice kinda lemony aroma. You have to try Cheeta for sure.
Yeah, Cheetah is good. I would think of it as a scented white snuff, I believe that is about how 6photo described it themselves. To me the scent is floral, more or less. Worth a shot imo.
- Prins Regent. Delightful stuff. Easy to take, wonderful aroma, no. mess. Rationing my limited supply. 2. Wilson’s Strasbourg. To me, it’s the scent of Earl Grey. 3. O&G. Complex and refreshing, but too much leads To burnout for me. One that should be mentioned but will only be spoken of in passing is Old Paris. While still very, very good, it’s quite simply no longer Old Paris. It has clearly changed and the captivating alcoholic figginess from the date liqueur has gone and left the snuff poorer for the change. Closer to Santo Domingo in flavor now.
Thanks @ALLex and @Mr_O for the feedback on Cheeta. Being new to snuff I am still a bit intimidated by these stronger offerings. That being said, I am a gamer! I had assumed something with a strong scent, very floral and sandalwood-esque. This will be fine with me, especially the sandalwood part of it.
I’ll add my two penneth worth on 6Photo Cheeta. I find it quite bland and pretty hard to take and I’ve been “snuffing” for 10 years or more. If you want an equally potent Nic hit, without the tears, try 41 Photo’s Yellow Lilly Perfumed it’s one of the few none medicated Indians and is mildly floral rather than the usual incense/perfume character. Still take with caution like any fine toast.
Toque’s Whisky & Honey is good, but a poor substitute for WoS’s that has been discontinued:-((. Maybe Toque’s US version might be closer but it only comes in those ridiculous small 10gr tins.
My all time favorite #1 is Toque USA Whiskey and Honey. Then #2 be SWS Field of Juniper. #3 is Silver Dollar Medicated but I’m all out and been using 6 Photo #666 in its place. @JeffParr you can get Whiskey and Honey USA in 50-400 gram economy bags from Toquesnuffdotcom
Is there anyone’s out here in the world who’s top three are Fubar Bohica, Toque Cheese an Bacon, and Snuffy Weiss? Was just wondering nothing wrong with those tho.
@Stoke_About_Toque Thanks for that, I may invest in 100+gr bag once I’ve sampled it. That’s how I buy thier Kentuck Bourbon (USA) and Chocolate (US), which are both great and a good Nic hit. I’ll add it to my order when I need to restock.
I tried the Toque Cheese an Bacon as one of their buy 10 * 10gr selection special offers. I thought it would be a bit of fun and it was, I still have 9.9gr left after 2 yrs, enough said:-)
I better keep on topic I guess and update my top 3:
- SG Elmos Reserve (no change here)
2. WoS Africa - New flavour by WoS last year - Mild Chocolate and kind of grassy, in a dark and really good tobacco base, good hit.
- SG K B Plain - Just a great mature tobacco scent and v. easy to take with SG’s fluffy grind. (How do they do that??)
Thanks @JeffParr for the suggestion. I have added 41 Photo Yellow Lilly Perfumed to my next list for order.
Well just got some new snuff to me in mail today and it’s shaken up what I thought were my top 3. #1 Otto Chancellor #2 Otto Schmalzler maybe USA Whiskey and Honey #3 Otto Glacier I don’t know if this cuz they are the new kids on block but nothing ever replaced USA W and H. I have tried allot of snuff and this Otto line is majestic! I doubt Roderick made these, had to been unicorns and leprechauns!
@Stoke_About_Toque I’ve see allot of fond affections for these Scmalzler snuffs. I understand they are quite a wet snuff and popular in Germany. Are they messy to use? Do they have a medium or high nic hit? Is there a place on the forum where I can learn about the different types of snuff available? Not so much brands, but styles.
@Ben_Macm actually schmalzlers I’m fairly new to. I over looked them for since I started. Toque schmalzler first I tried and it very moist and take extra force to get in nose. A little more messy then usual and gets my nose running. There allot of stuff on forum but I use Google to search em. Just ordered some poschl schmalzler sf sudfrucht to compare. I like em but I like the feeling of a finer grind in nose but schmalzlers are fun too almost out my ten gram tin in two days. So easy to pinch.
Schmalzlers are not moist in the real sence, being from greese (originaly butter) rather than water, which I find makes it easier to take. I have a Dutch freind that orders it by the Kg, due to the copious amounts he literaly thumbs up his nose and seems to stay there quite well. It’s the traditional Baverian way of taking it apparently, as is the quantity of beer he can down, in that, I’m a big fan of tradition too.
I’ve seen some old photos/paintings??? of Germam pubs with a large jar of Schmalzler on the table. These have what looks like fethers sprouting from the cork, I assume used to dust off the excess from lip or mustach?
Bernard’s - Aecht Altbayerischer Old Bavarian Schmalzler would be in my top 3 if it wasn’t so expensive, I save it as a treat:-))
In no particular order… SP Extra Hedges Toque Lavender
Toque Quit
McChrystals O&G
NTSU Black
Toque Quit
Toque Natural Toast
Wilsons of Sharrow Grand Cairo
F&T HDT Otto Chancellor Rosinski Frankfurter
F&T HDT Togue Whiskey and Honey Toque Original
At the moment it is
Samuel Gawith Silky Dark
Wullebelz from Allgäuer Schnupftabakmanufaktur and
F&T Santo Domingo
followed by some others like Samuel Gawith KB Plain and Elmos Reserve
A provisional list only but: 1) Toque - USA Whiskey and Honey 2) Mullins & Westley - Particular 3) Wilson’s of Sharrow - Tom Buck
Hi guys, new member here.
my top 3 snuffs so far are…
Samuel Gawith celtic talisman
WoS kendal brown
Toque Rose
These will most certainly change on a weekly basis !!
Silky Dark Toque Quit Santo Domingo
At the moment and for some time it’s been: 1. Bernard Aecht Altbayerischer Schmalzler 2. Otto Schmalzler 3. Toque Whiskey & Honey USA Other notable mentions are: Sir Walter Scott Havana Toast Fubar Grunt Bernard Gekachelter Virginie Viking Dark I guess it’s obvious from all those that I love nicotine.
- Sir Walter Scott Lundy Foote 2. Mullins and Westley Jock’s Choice 3. Bernard’s Klostermischung With an honorable mention for 6 Photo Green Dragon, which is the only menthol snuff so far that has really grabbed me.
My big order of about 20 tin from toque arrived 3 days ago. Right now I have 3 tin open and in rotation. Love all of it and it will be my top 3 at this moment. Might change in weeks to come. 1. Samuel Gawith Firedance. 2. Mc Chrystal’s Sunset. 3. Bernard’s Klostermischung
Hmmm… :-? Changes all the time, a truly movable feast this question.
1) A rappee = Selection du jour Viking Dark Rappee
- A toast = Current favourite is SWS Golden Horn
3) A medicated one = I’m really digging Mullins & Westley’s Keen Scented right now
I’m going to have a second bite of the cherry after a six months or so: 1) Grand Cairo 2) Old Paris 3) High Dry Toast
