I’m wondering what is your Favorite top 3 De Kralingse snuffs?and why? To me I like 1)Prins Regent 2)Musinotabak 3)Cococream(reg) Peace and Alohas :-c
Pepermunt is incredible but I feel bad after taking it. Something in it doesn’t agree with me. Since anything with peppermint I tried from De Kralingse affects me the same way I guess it’s the peppermint itself. Anyway, it’s fantastic and I’m probably not typical so give it a try.
Aside from that I love
- A/P outstanding dark, smokey pine but can be very throaty. Even if you don’t normally get any in your throat if you do with this you’ll be hurtin’. Badly! Still, I can use this as an every-day all-day snuff and I don’t ever get tired of it.
- 2 and 3 are a toss-up between Jaap’s Oranje which I have loved and used for years and the new Lemon I suggested this year I believe it was. Jaap’s Oranje is a really beautiful, fresh combination of his wonderful dark base and a really fresh shpritz of orange essence of some kind. It tastes very natural and is not cloying. Another all-day, every-day blend I don’t tire of and always try to have on hand.
- Lemon Latakia. Well, I like lemon more than orange and since Jaap’s latakias really agree with me I suggested lemon and I think it has worked out beautifully. If you tried the Oranje and liked it, try this too. It’s superb.
I have tried many of the De Kralingse blends and I don’t think there is a bad one in the bunch. My preferences are for dark and heavy, I’m a traditional plain and KB fan, so while I have enjoyed all his Virginias that I have tried and also the Karotten (have some St. Omer right here) they don’t have the darkness, heaviness and the nose feel I prefer. I get a good cleansing blow from the latakias which hits the spot. After many years I have settled on the latakia blends and the three I mentioned are always in stock or on order.
I would like to see some new latakias with a coarser blend and more moisture. I feel Jaap gets the flavorings just right but for me and possibly others who enjoy the dark flavor and quality of the base they would probably be better moister and coarser.
I haven’t had the pleasure of trying enough to come up with my top three… but I have to throw out one of my favorites…
Chococreme-L is wonderful, and I highly recommend it. It’s like sipping hot chocolate by fireside. Mmmmm
Lemon Latakia sounds awesome! I like the A/P, Chococreme-L, and Peppermunt.
Chococreme, Tobacco De Lorrilard, Prinze Regent… Forgive the spellings. I would add that for those wanting more moisture, try hydrating the snuff as @basement_shaman has suggested. It’s really changed my experience.
Love De Kralingse and their awesome little boxes.
Unfortunately Prins Regent has never been available when I’ve made orders. I’ve purchased 7 or 8 of their products and they are all great, but Oranjesnuif really stands out. It was good when I got it, but it’s only gotten better over the last few months.
Their potpourri #1 is very nice too. I didn’t care much for the potpourri #2…it didn’t have the strong, pleasant spice that #1 has. It’s interesting stuff…it looks nothing like the picture on Mr. Snuff. It looks like someone opened an herbal tea bag. I take a pinch every once and a while. May be TMI, but I have two small children and when I can remember to take a pinch while they are “pinching a loaf” it makes the experience just a little more bearable.
Thats a tough one. I actually like them all. One of my favorites, however, has to be Pompadour. Also Tabac a la Pairs is great. Chocomint too, and of course Mississippi!
I’ll echo the love for A/P as my Number 1. Past that? Depending on the day/season, I’d say Oranje and Musinotobak. (I just find Musino works better for me in colder weather, Oranje in warmer.)
- Musinotabak
2. St. Omers No.1
- Latakia Ao 1860
With honourable mentions to Hollandse Bolongaro, Son de Tonca, and Bon Bon
Has anyone ordered directly from their website yet? If so, did you use the transferwise or some other way?
I just got my first three de Kralingse snuffs last week; musino tobak, Mississippi, and Hermbsted’s Brasil. They are all good but the musino is the best so far. I also like the little boxes they come in. I will be re-using them.
